The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via Paramount+, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. Every night, viewers can expect: Comedy, humor, funny moments, witty interviews, celebrities, famous people, movie stars, bits, humorous celebrities doing bits, funny celebs, big group photos of every star from Hollywood, even the reclusive ones, plus also jokes.

Yeah it blows my mind every time. I was really nervous for him but holy shit did he nail it.
Yup, he's been doing this over 11 years now so he's totally relaxed and on top of it. I want to see him live.
I actually know him personally, he's been in the US for a while now actually, but not to take away from his talent. Still blows my mind every time I see one of his shows!!

I almost couldn't watch, I was cringing inside so much for the guy. But a few minutes later I'm looking up his site, to find out if he's touring the US or just popping into NY for a show or two. Sadly, it's the latter.

I always love when the audience starts cheering when they recognize he's done rapping about one topic and has just made the connection to the other.

There's a ton of his videos online. He's been doing this and touring in the US for a very long time now.

How can he possibly do this that quickly off the cuff without even pausing to think, absurdly random topics, setting up whole lines in advance just to deliver the rhyme word at the end, on national TV, all literally without missing a beat??! That has to be the quickest wit I’ve ever seen, hands down. Insane real-time processing power, the way he pulls deep cuts from historical knowledge jesus how is that possible?
His knowledge is incredible. I've never seen him stumped by a topic.
The multitasking involved in creating jokes (and rhymes) for one subject while asking the audience for the next (then repeating, and hopefully creating a narrative that works to link the subjects together) is astounding.

Well, it's a thinker's joke, so... Half the audience probably didn't even get it.

@@rogersmith434 interesting. I guess I'm valuing intellectual superiority and quick-thinking wit and how he seamlessly links two completely different topics with such ease (which is often mind-blowing) over cadence, flow and switch up bars, etc.
I would also hazard a guess and say that these "most" that you speak of are American and are, in general, more bias towards their own than a geeky pom!
Saying all that I would call myself impartial and, if anything, would lean more towards my American cousins than my British cousins as I am 100% Irish and we all know about the history between ourselves and the Brits.
*They first invaded 800yrs ago and STILL lay claim to 6 counties in the North of my country!
As a side note Chris would have grown up listening to the latest form of rap(esque music) in the UK known as grime. If you've not heard of it I suggest you check it out it's some of the slickest rap you'll hear and a lot of it is off the cuff battles.

*edit* I also think that to enjoy Chris to the fullest one must have an above average intelligence to appreciate and 'get' his subtle jokes and clever word play. This may explain why most value Mack more than Chris but that doesn't make Mack better than Chris.
I guess one could say this is subjective and beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder!
Can't say I'm a great rap fan but to watch this guy pull the ideas from the audience and do it blew my mind.

Less than ten years ago I was watching Chris in a small tent in Perth with an audience of 12 people.
The next year I bumped into him and he's one of the nicest, humblest entertainers I've ever met.
Now he's on The Late Show. I'm so happy for him

In his stand-up he often adds to this joke by pointing out that there aren’t many rappers that make reference to Roman numerals, followed by “I is one”. 😄
Sooo cool, been following Chris' RUclips channel for well over a year. Seeing him on a late night show is so cool, hope he gets the recognition and broader audience that he deserves... great rap by the way (as always)

Hes great, BUT you know theres going to be the envious ones that are going nowhere but are of the gun violence type and will try to dissuade him in his greatness. Hope he rocketshipts to stardom. Get that man a contract & I mean a good one.

unfortunatly, the uk uses miles. It is the rest of Europe that uses kms! That did not impress, the rest, wow!

The jokes at the beginning weren't lame at all, they only seemed that way because he milked the pauses instead of steaming right ahead.
