Mon Dieu, Sylvie, I have loved you since I was young. Now I am 50 and I still think you are the most outstanding dancer of all time. You are exquisite. Your tone is unsurpassed. I can watch you perform until my dying days. Bless you for displaying enormously fantastic performces. I wish I was the lucky man in your life.
Fanstastic!!!!!!! Perfect synchronization between movement and music. I loved it when in the end her hands and feet would cross the light beams and make them seem like moving torches.
I woke up in the morning dancing this movement after watching it through the night on my computer. I realized that The gift I have should never be ignored as long as I am alive. I am glad that this video brought that revelation to light

I admire her for not being afraid to evolve and push herself to try something outside her comfort zone. She loves to dance, to perform and the process - she honors the dance world with her presence
went to see her last night at the Sydney Opera House with Russell Maliphant. This piece was my preferred. How can I say it simply ... Dance does not get better than this
I also saw this at the London Coliseum on Saturday night, for the first time, and it is truly spellbinding. The video can't do it justice, but it's a nice reminder of something very special indeed.
Such souplesse, fine movements shown with grace. When the music builds up you see her prepare for what's to come, she straightens the body and show her force. Then goes back into her organic movements... love this! I'd like to dance like this...
Bravo! I have seen Sylvie Guillem perform in London - but that was ballet - this is contemporary dance. Now, she is breaking down the sorts barriers that Martha Graham demolished - stunning.
I saw Sylvie perform this at Sadlers Wells that always sold out when she was in town, born in 1965 it's amazing how she has changed dance throughout her life.
I found this last night and was so excited I have seen it performed on stage three times as part of Guillem and Maliphant's PUSH. I will never tire of seeing Guillem's incredible movement coupled with Michael Hull's innovatibe lighting. A triumph. Wish I had booked up for the Colliseum now. Thanks for posting this.
How many dancers can dance this with this effect? Even when she was doing Juliet there was a physicality about her; a steely quality that suggested that she had absolute control over very muscle in her body that set her apart from other prima ballerinas. You never saw her legs shake whether she was doing one pirouette or 20. The evolution of Guillem is something to marvel at. As is her dedication to her craft.
it's a pity that this amazing clip has been posted with the wrong form factor, horizontally squeezed. With a minimum of care is possible to instruct RUclips for the proper appearance.
open another tab . go to youtube(just follow me here). look up soul cry by misty edwards . let it play as you go back to this video in first tab but put this video on mute so you see this but hear the outher music
first remembered me to the childhood, i found between that and when he starts to dance passionately there is a gap, in someway like energy it should be there and after it seems be showed or not. not a bad critic in anysense, just a thought.
Awesome work! I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on a video inspired by the freedom of dance, where the performers used talcum powder, powdered paint and fireworks; check out FLOURISH on my channel!

The most powerful and sensuous piece of dance that I have ever seen. I consider myself most fortunate to have seen her perform this live..
Such expression without words. Mesmerising from beginning to end.
Fanstastic!!!!!!! Perfect synchronization between movement and music. I loved it when in the end her hands and feet would cross the light beams and make them seem like moving torches.
I'm absolutely speechless...Only one thing to say: Guillem is a godess on a perfect body.
...........quel bonheur.....

Man that was Deep I was thinking the same thing when I saw it
Michael Hulls is the lighting designer. He has been collaborating with the choreographer Russell Maliphant (who did this piece) for nearly 15 years.

The movements become a kind of vocabulary. SO smart, and proof that not all art has "been done".
Staggeringly brilliant; can watch her forever. Genius choreography too.
Sylvie Guillem est une gran ballerina, ma surtout une grande artiste. Fantastique, je vous adore Sylvie !!!

than her.
she is absolutely amazing...love her in ballet but in contemporary dance she is out of this world...je t'aime sylvie..

Simply fantastic!
Mystical..
Sylvie Guillem was (still is!) for me the true rebel within the dance world.
She was knowed as THE NOTORIOUS madame NON, and she was SOO RIGHT!

ものに驚嘆する。最高です
had seen this in kalamata in 2002, with dana fouras dancing: my first, utterly mesmerising, contact with maliphant's work...
Beautiful!

I have no words..
She is sooo badass.
Just awesome as always xx
Majestic!
She's raven-like. Her arms become wings. She's fierce, fluid ... possessed.
The 10 people that dislike this video obviously don't know magnificent dancing when they see it.
Hand jive. Hand jive.
Doin' that crazy hand jive.
i loved it, beautiful!

Thanks for pointing this out. It used to be correct and I'm unsure when or how it changed. Should be fixed to correct aspect ratio now.
@motherginsling
Totally agree. Guillem is an absolute godess on a prefect body...
Quando il movimento diventa energia dell'essenza
Now that's a Body! Guillem is something else.
She is so Michealangelic.

@Toushkasam
I believe you are completely right. I haven' seen anything equal to her performances.

Hi. Who knows the difference between ballet and classic dance? It is the same?
