I like the column lifts over a 4 post because they’re portable... Silent Mike has been an awesome addition to the channel.
pro tip: you can watch movies at flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Bridger Houston yea, have been using flixzone} for years myself :D
Just waitin for the 18 inch shifter extension and the seat aired all the way down now that she’s bolt action! Haha
We have had several auto adjust clutches fail and stop adjusting up, we only run manual adjust in our fleet now for that reason, but our trucks work in the patch and are far from fair weather rides, hopefully it works out for you!
Kudos Fitzgerald 👍👍☝️
5:52 I guarantee this guy bathes in breaklean before leaving for home everyday lol
Liquid wrench/wd40 works better I think
All these Big rig videos bring back memories I grew up in an 18 wheeler my dad used to drive long distance went with them every summer vacation great memories love these videos 👍👍👍👍
Them cats have some tricks get a marine cam and bigger injectors
My ISX started like that when the fuel pump was on its way out. Might want to look into that...
You know hell end up putting an air dog on it
My 3406 does the same thing
Exactly, lack of fuel pressure in the FIP governor section.
When you build your big truck pole barn just dig a pit, you don’t need a lift. Thank you for for showing what it takes to make a flat top 18 speed truck❤️
Pretty cool to replace the trans when ya have right tools for semis
I love CAT ET.. I use it daily as a technician J1939 is life.
I thought they where gonna use a fancy tool to take off the u joints and yokes... saw them use the 2x6’s and a jack n I said ahh these are my people lol
🙋♂️😂😂😂
That extension will wear out your synchros with the quickness. Had one on mine when I bought it and threw it out quick, could feel how loose the house got from the extra weight
Thats why you see super long extensions so you don’t rest your hand on them!
@@duramaxklem1491 the extension does more damage than resting your hand. Especially if you re cruising in a gear up against the dash the extra weight pulling down will wear out the synchros quick.
Semis don't have synchros. Except for the splitter and high low range selectors
Wears out the shift forks
Greg, if you ever had to install a new clutch. Stack the clutch on the input shaft and then stab the trans. After the trans is in place, bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel. Makes things a lot quicker and easier.
I was going to suggest this as well. It saves so much time and frustration with trying to get input to line up with everything!
Now it’s a real deal large car! Great job Fitzgerald
Awesome job, you need that lift in your new shop.
They make portable lifts for trucks, that can lift a truck just as high or even higher than that four post. They’re nice since you don’t have to dedicate a bay just for a lift.
Pete hitting a lick 😎👍👍
Great video. Can't wait until its done. Good looking truck!
Have them to chop those stacks down a little
Nah leave em how it is. Full send brother
@@bobloe1 yeah till you fold one in half going under and overpass
@parkerbethke yea that’s true. I just think he should keep em how he likes them but that’s a valid point about bridges and overpasses. Wouldn’t be a good day if that happened
@@drewl4762 I mean he isn't using it for over the road work and he made the trip to Fitzgerald without an issue. They aren't excessively over height
As they drove up on the lift I litterally thought to my self "a 30klb 4 post would be neat to have"🤣
That will be Greg's next purchase for the new shop.
Isnt this who bruce was filming with when he got in trouble for being out florida? Lol
He went put of florida a ton but pretty sure whistlin deisel was who did him in
@@jackwagonsusa like just being with Whistlin diesel? Or Whistlin diesel ratted him out?
Time to polish those wheels Mr Greg and Mechelle 😂😳🤙
The pete is looking good! Used to work with steve there, he's a good dude
Have them make the stacks a little taller
Didn't you have to install a clutch pedal as well or was it originally a manual?
Thank you Greg for getting a standard back in her not that auto
Super stoked. Awesome man.
Greg, I really dislike those solo clutches! They are always trouble, seizing up and such. Just make sure you actually use you clutch hard some weeks with that solo in there. We ordered about 10 western stars with them and we have changed about 8 to manuals within 3 years.
Can’t wait to hear that thing sing😀
I would have left the worn out easy pedal clutch in before putting that junk self adjusting clutch in. Good luck with it if it sets around alot it will freeze up.
I wouldn't want to anywhere near that transmission if it should start going for the floor lmao
Nice Pete did you happen to get some low riding Quarter fenders while you were there That pete will look even better with some👍✌
i hope they changed out that one peace clutch brake out because they suck to cut off when you have to cut them off under the truck with a air hammer
Being here pretty late for some one from The Netherlands..
I’m curious what this costs because a lot of trucks I see have a 10 speed and I’m looking to buy a truck but I hate 10 speeds. Trying to figure out if it would be worth buying a truck with a 10 speed and swapping it to an 18 speed
You should ge a big rig lift for your shop. Have a dedicated bay for the Pete
He probably has one ordered already
@GREG_ALBERALLA Do you have a part number for that brace that goes across the top of the trans. I have 98 Pete with a 10 spd and i already bought an 18. Now just need time to get it installed.
05-15138 channel
05-15145 plate
05-02657 bolt spring..you need two.
Need that laptop to turn them horse puppies up. Can't have a stock diesel at Greg A's place. Magical Mexico trips
What is the best model of 18 speed transmission is there one better than the others?
I wish they would have gone with a manual adjust clutch, the auto adjust always fails to auto adjust after getting excessive grime/crap in the clutch
I’ve removed these hundreds of times after failing to get them to adjust and finding clutch plate life still good but clutch not operating properly.
A good manual adjust easy pedal is the way to go by far 👍🏻 hope it all works out for ya though
Easy pedal FTW!
I bet they put a one piece clutch brake in too 🤢
@@aricolson5524 always put a one piece in on a new clutch install. 2 piece is junk.
@@aricolson5524 haha you almost made me puke thinking about a one piece clutch brake
@@Tombomb1816 two piece is only junk if you don’t know how to drive. Push the clutch to the floor while rolling and it will spit it out. But it is still easy to change. Push the clutch down to the floor while rolling with a one piece and the tits are gone and you are getting the torch out
13 is all you need
I’d put an 18 in too because you can run the 18 like a 13, but you can’t run a 13 like an 18. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
He went with the 18 because that's what was available. Greg really wanted a 15.
I only watch his videos if it has peterbilts in them lol
Why no Lipe? Auto adjust will not continue to adjust well as much as she sits on gravel
Hey Greg hows the 68rfe holding up on the 18, also are there any tunes for aisin tran, and do you think its worth it to do an allison swap on your Cummins
Of course 18 speed going to be longer than 10 speed automated. Sorry but 10 speed had 2 speed sensor one for trans installed by Eaton and one for engine install at the time pete put truck together. How did you get it to start since automated trans controlled relays for starter or did they run new wire.
the turck is cool love it
Mine would start up like that it was the fuel was bleeding back down the line so the motor wasn't getting enough fuel on start up
You’d probably get better fuel mileage if you cut them 10 mile stacks down a little
Replace cam and crank sensor issue will go away. Work for a cat dealer
What a great shop
Are you going to address the pinion seal leak while you're there?
That transmission looks a little small to me. That's crazy I imagined them much bigger!
Thank God it's getting an 18spd!! That was too good looking of a truck to be wussing around with an automatic!!
Smart choice to install a auto adjust clutch.
What stacks are you running on that truck
Yes use it!!!!
Get the Almost Chrome guys out of Nashville to polish her up!!
Oh man she will be roll some coll now
Not a hater , but auto adjust clutch was a big mistake. I’ll I’m going to say is I hope it doesn’t get stuck and not adjust for you. Been doing clutches for 10 years and I have never seen a good auto adjust clutch.
Easy pedal for the win!
I was here to say the same, auto adjust always gets stuck and you do nothing but fight them. A manual adjust is the way to go!!
So do they help other owner operators to do work? Or only fancy RUclips'rs
They help anybody.my buddy bought 9 freightliners from them
@@DieselAddict-vs9fc that doesn't mean you can pull them on the lift and do work with help. Read the question. Not how much money you have spent
@@brandonflores1905 its not unheard of for a shop to allow this for recognition plus i think he knows the owner, it would be literal torture to have every single pain in the ass trucker hovering over you every time you did a repair on their vehicle.
@@keith2860 no one said every time "they did a repair". Again "read the comment". I would love the chance to have access to a shop that had these capabilities to fix or "update" the truck I feed my family with. I followed him for a long time. It's gone from instructional to "let me show you what I got."
@@brandonflores1905 100%
How much did it cost about for them to convert it
Enhance, Enhance, Enhance 😆😆
Caja de 18 👍🏽
Save the stick
Always from 10 spd to 13 or 18
You have to cut the drive line 3 inch shorter
Part 2: the reveal of the transmission and the satisfaction of the owner (Greg A)
Do em on the floor all the time but man this looks nice. (Get some wheel lifts)
So cool 😎
Rite on Buddy
That’s my dream truck
the shifter better be TALL!!
Stretch that content as far as you can, you know your going to finishes the swap today, but probably make 3 videos over it
I could tell at first glance the new one was way longer
Too good
What is the name these guys business?
And where in TN, ?
👍👍
i want that lift....lol
😎👍
I really wish they made it that simple for pick ups lol
18 is good for heavy haul but 80k 13 is all you will use
Nice!!
Freakin awesome video !
Just gonna wait and see that driveshaft twist off because it wasn’t built for a 2050 clutch
Is it possible to make it an automatic 😂
Hell my Pete bleeds all the air a couple hours after shutdown.
I liked the 10 speed auto 🤷♂️
Dope username, love it
It's a truck not a pickup ....
"Sissy stick"transmissions are for city buses & steering wheel holders ..... They have no place in a over the road 18 wheel truck .
There is no need for a lift to remove a transmission. Leave truck on ground and have a transmission jack.
As a diesel mechanic I cringed the whole video. No way in hell I’m doing all that work and not replacing the rear main seal or the input shaft/bearing on that trans. Not to mention the solo clutch. I just pulled one out a couple weeks ago cause it wouldn’t adjust but still had plenty of life. They’re garbage
I agree solos are garbage. They will leave you stranded. Rear main is a must and a suitcase kit is sub $200 at my parts house.
@@coryayers9214 yea suitcase is cheap insurance, only time I won’t replace it is if the trucks under warranty cause they won’t pay for it lol
I was looking and hoping this comment was here, 100% agree with everything you've said. Wouldn't put a solo in for anyone, not a truck shop around here that even stocks them.
Should check high pressure fuel pump and/or quantity control valve for the starting issue. Catch it early before metal gets sent through the fuel system
Im sure they're great and work perfect. But i dont trust that lift. 18wheelers are heavy af and its only a 4 Post
"Helpeen"
Better off getting a 30,000 lbs lift so that you can use it for what ever you want.
Talk less
Work more 😎
A automatic in a 379 Pete is worst than a Tennessee person eating instant grits, just pitiful,I'm glad you're getting rid of it.
You won’t know how to act with the 18 speed.......👍......lol
TOP 👏🇧🇷✌️🎱😎
hey Greg you look like you are get a bit of a full face {welcome to the thick side}😁😁😁😁😁😁
you up 10lbs are so hun ????
Not auto it's a automated manual
Get rid of the long azz stacks, they look stupid.
According to you
