Folks, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of this. I think it's something we can all be proud of. My only gripe was that there was one man who was pivotal to all of this happening, we never see him in the film, his name isn't written down anywhere, but he was the most important man in every scene. From organising venues and the actors to be there, garda clearance to fire guns, wardrobe and props, does all of the filming and (a first for me this morning) makeup. Joe Murphy, ye little legend 👏👏👏 Now, let's see what happens in Kildare after the treaty is signed...tbc..

I really enjoyed this production, well done to all involved ! I'll be sure to share it with a few folks that I think will appreciate it. One point - the RIC Constable at about 4:40 who put his hands on the muzzle of his rifle - don't ever do that ! That can go very badly, even with blanks. It's a terrible habit even if many people get away with it, and bad habits with weapons can get you hurt. I've seen a muzzle blast injury from a blank up close. That guy still has reduced function in his hand 30 years later.
Delighted you enjoyed it and just to let you know...that Constable has been reprimanded and arrested and he is away to desk duty for a while!! 😉😅 Thanks again.

My poor Dad told me when he was going to school he used to have to jump into the ditches because of the Black and Tans. They were bad and evil people.Tina Ireland.
The brutal and savage British soldiers standing with their loaded guns pointed against the people of all of Ireland, The savage and brutal treatment dished out by the British government with its army of convicts was similar in most ways to how Putin and his invasion Russian army have and are behaving with the great people of Ukraine, The Irish never gave in no matter how much they suffered and how bad or hard things would get. As an old soldier I have and am always on the side of the freedom fighters all over our world, they possess power and strength that none of the greatest armies of this world did or will ever possess
The English are lucky beyond imagining that the Irish are decent, patient, Christian people who have not sought revenge--REAL, SUSTAINED, EYE-FOR-AN-EYE REVENGE--for all of the wrong that has been committed against them. Had the Irish done so, there would be no England, nor even a U.K. today.
It's great to just highlight local history in forgotten places. So many families and communities were affected and involved in things they knew nothing about but still were willing to risk their lives. Inspirational!
You are obviously ignoring the atrocities commited by the IRA against civilians in both Northern Ireland and in the UK. They were not decent people...evil murderers would be my opinion.

May surprise you to know that one third of the 'Auxies' were Irish, Australiens,New Zealanders, and Canadians were also to be found among them, even a few Americans as well as Scots(The recruiting office in Glasgow for the R I C was in Bath St as a kid I remember it as the Abbey National Office) and Welsh, there were even some English. You had to have been an officer to join, so forget any drivel about jailbirds. They were not afraid of the I R A either, being accustomed to battle with the Gernans, Austrians,or Turks. They hunted the I R A,fighting to the death on occasions. It is worth also noting that there were over six Irish Regiments in the British Army at this time some of whose men became I R A men like Tom Barry an ex British N C O who fought the Turks, and whose father was an R I C inspector. All is not what it seems, The Irish War is complex and has many nuances.

What do people make of the swastika on the truck at 1.00mins into the video. Is it a Kelso laundry lorry?
