Hey *JohnnyNerdOut* thanks for the review. Install goes smoother in these steps: 1. Install one bead of the tire 2. Install one bead of the Tannus Armour insert. 3. Install your inner tube. 4. Finish installing bead of the insert then the tire and boom! Good go! Cheers
I just did mine using those steps and both were done in a little over 20 minutes. Super easy! The thing that took the most time was using my road bike pump to pump up 4.6 inch fat tires 😂
When using tannus armor inserts, you're supposed to use smaller tubes to account for the extra space the foam inserts take up inside the tire. If your bike is a 24x2.6, then you need a tube that is 24x1.5-2.0
Other people have pointed out that the instructions say to put the liner in first, and then the tube. Also I found it much, much easier to cut some of the thin part of the liner, ie the sidewall part. That made it much easier to install. Also, Flat Out is much better than the slime stuff and it can be used with or without Tannus Armour liners. Flat Out helps if something makes it through the liner to the tube. Good luck!
I've had mine installed since Apr 2020 on my Electra Townie Go - no punctures for 15 months! Used to get a puncture every 6 months with tube sealant. My bike shop installed for me 😉
@@jerryx2000 you still use a tube with lower than usual pressure, the foam piece goes inbetween the tube and outer tyre to protect the tube - see the #shorts Tannus Armour video on my channel
Made a bickepacking trip to Kirgyzstan few years ago... Thorns were a nightmare. Flatted my wheel 5 times in a single day once. Really looking forward for some solutions
Want to go with tannus on my 50cc motorized bike. These bikes maximize tire problems, and minimize your ability to pedal back. I usually just dump the bike in the weeds and walk back after I get a snakebite. 700 38... which tubes go in there the 700 23 ?
I fitted a pair of these liners to 20" x 2.125" tyres....it took me an hour on each one.....I hope I never get a puncture, it could take a long time to repair it.
They took me forever at first too. I think the last one took about 5 mins. It was a 20”x 1.75 I believe on a trailer. Practice makes perfect, but hopefully you don’t have to have much practice😀
There's thrones were I am but they don't penitrat my new tires on my ebike. After a tire has about a year of wear the rubber gets a lot softer and easy to puncher.
Live in Bentonville Arkansas. Been riding Cush core for 2 years, zero issues. Got a new Canyon and they had a 27.5 tannus at the ship so I went for it. Not even 45 minutes into my ride bam pinged the rim, dented the rim, tore the tires beef and I’m flat. Same trail i ride didn’t almost daily (loam wolf) and according to strava 57 times in just the last year. Needless to say I’ll never buy another Tannus insert!
Installed mine in June, didn't ride for 3 months during the winter months. Caught a flat on my Lectric XP yesterday, March 21st (wood screw) despite having "armour" installed. And no, I couldn't ride on it flat. The tire became unsealed. I used to get a flat about once or twice per month before I installed them, so I guess it helped a little.
i got told you have to let all the air out and let the armour 'rebound' back to its normal size for a couple of days every 6 months or so - as it gets flattened and thinned out as you use it. just installed mine in one tire - was pretty tiring but got there in the end - hope it helps me too.
1:42 Inner tube being too big for the Tannus Armour. When you use Tannus Armour with an inner tube you need to use a slightly smaller tube than the size listed on the side of your tyre. See the 'Tannus Armour Size Guide' on homepage
I bought tannus armour, I have the smaller inner tubes on the way, what presser do I go by? Should I stick with the recommended presser for my tire or for the tire size that the smaller tube is meant for?
is your bbshd tuned down to accomodate that sturmey archer IGH? im putting an alfine 8 on my surly with bbshd and worried it will rip it up if not altered correctly. ive got an eggrider so have the capability to tune things but you seem to have had this bike for a while so i was just hoping for a little insight to the practice of its longevity . love all your videos btw youre great.
Throw these things don't even weigh anything. Serious when you buy a box with this and it it totally feels like an empty box. Hey wait this box is empty I want my money back
I hope by now you realize you are supposed to use a inner tube that is smaller then what you normally use. I run a 26x1.75 rear tire on my two wheeled recumbent. And its a bugger to change a tire on that thing. So I am having one of the Armour inserts installed. The tube that will be used is a actual 26x1.5 inch tube. So the tube needs to be smaller then normal. Hope this helps.
Goat heads are the devil to us Utah riders. My Strava friends call me Sir Flatcelot. I just spent 1k on tubeless rims and tires for my road bike and bought my first fat bike yesterday which I'm converting with a Bafang BBSHD, which is what has me binge-watching your channel.. I was bummed that you were out of stock on everything I needed, going to your website and hoping to buy from you. Good to have you in Utah Johnny!
I got a flat once on a biking trip and as I was changing the tire in the tall grass on the side of the hwy, I realized I was standing on an ant mound. Not pleasant
Super helpful thanks !! It is too bad that you sped up your vídeo so much. I tuned in because I want to see how to install these, but missed out on a lot of details because it was 4x faster than real time.
I don't deal with Goat Heads. I would be concerned that eventually they will migrate through that foam the same way small pieces of glass do without a liner. Staying out of the gutter and taking my lane, I have not had a flat in four years of never less than 3500 year round commuting miles.

@@JohnnyNerdOut Thank you man for your feedback, I will really consider.

Put those on my Specialized tricross. 100% satisfied. I run over goatsheads on purpose.

None yet 😀👍

which size of inner tube do you use with this tyre size ?

Once you get them in and they are in for a wile it’s a breeze to change once they are settled on being round.
Installing mine this weekend, definitely trimming the edges!
really good video. Thank you. Now i know how to fit mine. well but mine is 28 x 1 3/8 x 1 5/8. so it is going to be tough. i know.

I had Flat Out in mine for a month and the back tire is flat again. I’m definitely gonna put the Tannus Armour in.

I mean a wood screw is pretty hard-core compared to rubber

You run the tyres at a lower pressure with Tannus armour, maybe 25 psi instead of 50, may need a bit of trial and error.
Take your time no rush, it takes time to put the thing in there you know so this is your first time using it.
