Own a boat or 2 but love stopping and bank fishing. Just did it today on way home from work. Saw a striper boil but couldn't get to them. Delta is the greatest playground on earth to me but access is so limited without a boat. Wish it wasn't so. Keep up the good work!
Great video, Steve. Another great perspective added to your rapidly growing channel. Keep it up. Boat fisherman can learn a lot from bank anglers, like to remain stealthy and grind out a fishing location before quickly moving on.
Mr cooper tanks for your time and your reports congrats on your fishing adventure tanks for posting your videos I’ll like them all have a great evening or night
It seems like every bank I look at has signs "Private property, no fishing". I read that most of the delta banks are, in fact, private, so I tend to stay off the bank. I'd like to try it sometime. For the next time with Kenny, I'd like to know how he knows what's actually allowed? Does he run into trouble or get chased off? Or are the signs just for show? What's his experience like? Thanks, Steve and Kenny!
I don't know where you're coming from of course, but you can fish the bank on Whiskey Slough and Turner Cut. There are a few miles or bank and it is all public access.
@@carlkubicek9630Thank you. Been looking at Google maps trying to figure out where to go. Guess I'll start from whiskey slough since I'm coming from Elk Grove.
I’m really glad I came across this video I live in Stockton CA and have been having a rough time bank fishing the delta im definitely looking forward to going fishing this weekend
Hi Josh. Check out your map, there is a public road that crosses bever slough outside of Thornton. Good bank ass around the bride and have seen anglers catch Bass, Crappie and sunfish. I have also heard stripers also can be caught. Thanks for watching-let me know how you do. I will do another video with Kenny this summer.
Sure thing rad. Glad you enjoyed and if there is interest we will keep doing bank tips. My son bank fishes about 4 to 5 days a week and has a ton of striper information.
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 Early August I drove along 160 from Rio Vista to Walnut Grove looking for places to get down to the river to fish for stripers but found very few spots. @@radiantcarpets Try driving the Delta Loop road off of Hwy 12. I think you will find so nice bank access for both bass and striper. Let me know if you have troble finding it. If you are around Vallejo my son knows lots of bank acc. for stripers around the Napa river.
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997Thanks for the suggestion, will check out the Delta Loop next time I hit the delta. I don't get up to Vallejo much but maybe you can get your son on an episode for bank fishing.
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 Slow start on finesse, but noticed they were hitting my dropshot while I was retrieving/moving quickly. Switched to the megabass jerkbait and caught a couple 1-2 pounders. Nothing crazy, but i wasn't out there long.
Also was out at the Delta with a buddy today we fished mostly Victoria canal did okay on Senco's on outgoing tide also clean rock walls throwing jerkbaits was producing a good number of fish but mostly small biggest fish today on jerkbait was 3 lb
Since I do not have a boat, I have caught just one single bass from a levee. I have caught a few bass on a pier. But, I wish I could fish from a levee without falling head first into the rocks below... It is dangerous for me.. Steve can you do more videos with actual fishing from the bank, with Kenny? I am willing to give it a try from bank, but I really need to be careful. I know a gal, Glitter n Gills, who fishes from the Levee on top of the road, with a slip sinker on a T-rig senko as her go to. She has caught some big bass lately.
I am a boat owner, 7 years now, But my biggest fish was off the bank, before boat, Was 11.6 on a senko, in white slough. Never felt the bite, just slow swim off.
He emphasized making as little noise as possible and approaching that area in a stealth mode. Remember bass can see your shadows in shallow and clear water conditions. He has success because he has researched the terrain and is familiar with the bass favorite covers and ambush areas. He's constantly on the move and doesn't want to waste time at those unproductive areas. I'll bet he has lots of favorite secret spots at the lakes too. His secret? Having persistent and patience.
If you have a boat start around Franks Track or Sherman Island. No boat try from the bank around Decker Island on the Sac. Good luck and let me know how you do

I think there are a lot more anglers without boats than anglers that have boats. Unfortunately the delta is not kind to bank anglers.
Bank fishing is awesome. I don't think there is a better way to learn to fish slow. Does Kenny have a channel?
Kenny does not have a channel. He is a very good fisherman and deserves a ton of credit.
