  • 2024 marks the 100th Anniversary of the completion of the Bob Julian Roundhouse at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer. To celebrate the occasion, we visit NCTM during the annual Historic Spencer Shops Train Show!
    We'll see some of the layouts and models on display, before switching focus to the real trains outside - with day and night action!
    If you'd like to visit NCTM or volunteer to help them continue their preservation efforts, please visit: www.nctransportationmuseum.org!
    Thanks for Watching and Keep On Steaming!

    Part of this video that surprised me was seeing the Thomas replica models by North Western Modelers at 3:13.

      Glad you enjoyed the video, Larry! I added some extra sound effects to the night photo shoot sequence to sell the shots of 542. 😉
      NCTM has a beautiful collection of equipment and definitely worth a visit!

    I thought the 542 was still able to run, is it not? I know it's just on display for now, and I wanted to be there that day/night but our daughter was sick so had to miss it. Would have been glorious to see her rollin' down the track in person :) Thank you so much for making this video so I can see her in motion vicariously through this lol

      This was the first time that NCTM moved 542 past the switch heading North out of the property and she rolled very smoothly for an engine that mostly sits on display. 😎👍🏼

      @@trainmaster844 That being in no small part due to the efforts of plenty of Rail Ops volunteers and to get it lubricated and slightly polished up.

    Very fun times that day! Really hope Brian puts on another show just like this, and maybe I can stick around to see the grand finale LOL! But where did the secondary audio for 542's runby come from? Sounds oddly like 734's more modern IC 3-chime, but that might be me mislabeling longbells :P

    • @trainmaster844
      @trainmaster844  Месяц назад +1

      The audio was from Wilmington & Western 0-6-0 #58, with a Hancock 3-Chime from the Lehigh Valley Railroad.
      I wanted to add some extra ambience to sell the idea of 542 running by under power 😉

    Gotta ask about SOU 542s whistle was that edited in or they were actually able to be blowing it somehow

    • @trainmaster844
      @trainmaster844  Месяц назад +1

      It was edited in. The sound is an archive from my video of Wilmington & Western 0-6-0 #58 from 2021.
