I got into Anime in 2002. Manga in 1999. I read mostly shoujo (and do to this day).
We had enough food in shoujo manga back then.
But K-ON happened. And about three years later I stepped away from Anime because all it had to offer was CGDCT.
It was unreal. You hit the nail on the head with that one.
Free! was like a shining light... and the Anime community *hated* it (because it's not girls being cute) , while I had a slither of hope that Anime is not completely lost.
Well... then Isekai happened and I'm still dissapointed. 😅
Thank god we get a little little bit more shoujo nowadays.
Oh and Yuri On Ice was definitely a phenomenon showing how much a certain demographic is underserved.
Hopefully we keep getting more and more variety. And less isekai would probably be nice too lol
So you like hot boys doing things. Yeah anime fans are most dudes, which is funny because they hate moe for being too girly and not manly enough
@@thomasffrench36 You know, there's nothing wrong with cute girls doing cute things.
But if it's all there is. And if there's no equivalent it's just not interesting. Especially if it comes at the expense of adaptations of other demographics then shounen/seinen. Which we only just recently get more.
And believe me the outrage of some die hard anime fans about Free! was pretty hilarious.
I don’t think Anime fans are mostly men, though. In my opinion it's pretty equal.
I was part of the founders of the biggest anime/manga con in my small country and the attendence was quite equal. Some years there were even slightly more girls.
We sure were more women in the main staff running this thing. (around 3000 tickets sold)
Omg thanks for making this 😭 I find that online, shounen (especially the most popular ones) are given most of the credit for influencing and popularizing anime. They're always seen as the only anime out there, and downplays other genres, and the shoujo demographic.
Facts! I just want to give love to other series that deserve it
Great video! Especially as an older anime fan, I cannot accurately explain how absolutely ubiquitous K-ON was back in the day and how much of a turning point it represented in the direction anime took.
You just had to be there lol
It's rare i find someone who has such a deep understanding of what makes anime what it is. I've been going through a few videos in a row and love the style of your videos. Although I may not have searched far enough back yet, id like to see a video on noragami. Consider the manga just ended and you have used the 1st op in your intros a few times, I want to see what your thoughts on it are. Also noragami is one of my top 5 anime... not cause it's "that good" or anything but I love the world and the characters and I struggle to find a lot of people who feel the same about it. Anyway great vid, and keep it up.
I'm not mad at this... Good job!!!
Off topic but you got me into a certain series and I need that new season bra the way they left it was crazy
We love to see it!
Great video to say the least! Also W Archie cameo lmao
The whole Moe thing can be traced back to Lupin III and the Castle of Cagliostro.
As a character know for being just a lech is brought to his knees by the princess. Stating he’s her knight and wishes to protect her.
ALL ANIME IS MECHA!!! Thanks for having me 😅
Yes all anime have it's roots in Mecha.
I feel like a big problem is separating manga influence and anime influence. For example I would consider Fist of the North Star a hugely influential manga, but not an influential anime. Also Cutey Honey is more of an ecchi for the manga than the anime adaptation from what I’ve heard. And if we are going manga, it is not an ecchi, but Go Nagai did make an ecchi before it. It’s also not really a magical girl show, which Craftsdwarf mentions in a video on Kill la Kill. But thanks for saying the big 3 aren’t that influential as they kinda didn’t create any new tropes for Shonen, although they are hugely influential for the direction of Shonen Jump for the next few decades.
Yeah manga influence is a whole other video 😅
But I agree the Big 3 have their influence in shonen jump but as for anime as whole it’s not even close.
Well done video that put into perspective the long history of anime. It's also funny Naruto and Bleach are put on that pedestal when they're directly influenced by HunterxHunter and YuYu Hakusho.
People stay forgetting the real classics😭👌🏽
Thanks for educating me about the influence of Cutey Honey.
Anytime🫡
Lets not forget about pokemon who is probably the biggest inspiration for the magical creature genre
Pikachu needs them residual checks 😂👌🏽
finally someone mentions abt cutey honey. RE: cutey honey i PEAK
The anime was every when I was doing my research for the video.
Gundam and Fist of the North Star were far more influential to anime then the big 3 ever were. Based ending
Archie 💀💀💀
Had to do it lol
W take is:
DB is the most influential anime, which is why he attained the title of "father of anime"
The damn thing legit stopped 70% of cartel crimes just to they could watch the latest DB episodes, it even saved REAL LIFE LIVES BC OF THAT 💀
And we all know this, he crashed a LOT of sites in 60+ countries.
Btw the first one I never knew exist, you stand alone bro 💀
This entire video might just be an... L take.
Shoenn is influencial. Not to that extent. Mecha anime is the influencial anime type. It saved anime.
Hey I think you misunderstand The Big 3 inspired Battle Shonen anime not anime in general
Yeah…that’s the entire point of the video lol.
Love the ending lmao all anime is Mecha fr
