      When you started your first double crochet row and you chained 2 did you do the 1st double crochet in the first stitch of that row?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  4 года назад +1

      @@riaedmond11 This pattern, the first row is single crochet, the next rows alternate between a half double crochet and a single crochet. The chain 2 counts as your first stitch, so you start in the second stitch from the hook. Hope that helps - let me know if you need more help!

    I am almost finished with this project. I’m using Peaches and Cream and the pattern along with the colors in the yarn are turning out beautiful! This cotton yarn is so soft and the single/half-double stitch combination make for a very pliable towel that will be a both useful and pretty addition to my kitchen as I have run into problems with kitchen towel patterns in the past. I have had trouble with my towels turning out too stiff and not able to dry dishes as I had hoped. But this towel is the opposite of that and I recommended it to anyone interested in making a towel. Thanks so much for the very clear instructions in the video and for the pattern!

    Thankyou so much. I have searched for a tutorial that I can follow and understand for a tea towel. And this is the only one. All your tutorials are fabulous. It can be hard to learn a new skill by watching someone on RUclips because alot of the important things get left out. But you cover all the bases. Great video! How do you make the odd sides lay flat on the border?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  4 года назад +1

      Sorry, not picturing what you are referring to. For the border on the long side, if they are not laying flat, you may be putting too many stitches in each row. It is just one stitch per row. Let me know if that isn't what you are referring to.

    • @missweenieboys2
      @missweenieboys2 4 года назад +1

      @@DIYOnTheHouse I am referring to the side without the clearing marked stitches. The sides with the chains.

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  4 года назад +1

      Understand! I would count the stitches on the opposite end for roughly 3" and then count them on the end you are working on for the same distance and see if you are placing too many in there. They are harder to see, but I am guessing if you get the right quantity, they should lay flat. Keep me posted!

    Hello. I just watched your video on how to make the dish towel. I saw that you did a chain of 50, but do you know how many rows you do? After I do my chain, I count my rows until I get the number of them that I need to complete a project. If you do happen to know how many rows you did, could you please let me know? Thank you so much.

    I'm totally confused. If you have 49 stitches, then you should be able to tell us what stitch you end with and what stitch you start the next row with???? I don't understand how you can say that you can start the rows with either stitch. That does not make any sense to me at all....... I love the look of the towel, but I wish that you would be more clear about starting and ending the rows.......

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  4 года назад

      Sorry I confused you! I guess I was trying to make the point that, if you accidentally do 2 stitches in a row, or lose track of which stitch you did last, that it doesn't matter, you can start with which ever stitch you want. If that still doesn't make sense, let me know and I can try to explain it better. Thanks for watching!

    • @susanbiddle5441

      @@DIYOnTheHouse Thanks for you quick reply !!! I really appreciate it, but I'm still confused. I'm sorry but I like precision...... Let me restate my question. If I chain 50 to start and do the first row of single crochet..... starting in the 2nd chain from the hook..... I end up with 49 stitches. I then turn my work... If start the next row with 2 chains .. what does the 2 chain count as? I'm going to skip the first stitch and do a half-double crochet, then a singe crochet and repeat to the end of the row. In order for me to end up with 49 stitches at the end of that row, the beginning chain 2 has to count as a stitch. So what stitch am I ending with? If I end with a single crochet (is that what I would end with?), then should I start the next row with a chain 1 and a single crochet????????? If I don't make any mistakes going across the row, then the pattern should tell me which stitch I'm going to end with and which stitch that I would start the next row with. I hope that makes sense. Sorry for being so picky..... but I do like precision in the directions. I wouldn't be pestering you so much except for the fact that I love this stitch and want to use it !!!! Thanks in advance....

    • @charleneg.4053
      @charleneg.4053 3 года назад +1

      She’s just referring to which stitch you’re doing for the entire row, meaning whether it’s the SC stitch or the HDC stitch. She alternated every other row with those stitches, so if you accidentally do 2 rows of SC and forget to do a row of HDC between them, it’s no big deal, or vice versa. Hope that helped.

      @@susanbiddle5441 no problem. As I read your question again I think you thought she was doing every other stitch different rather than every other row. Anyway, I just stumbled upon this as I’m making kitchen items for Christmas gifts and I added this to my list 😊 Happy holidays!
