Holy crap, the memories! The originals were better, I have to say, I remember loading zoo tycoon 1 and 2 up, and played for hours. Feels so long ago, thank you Beaver for brining this memory of my childhood back to mind!

Actually started playing some Zoo Tycoon 2 recently and gotten really into it. It’s so weird how they managed to mess up the one thing important in park builder games: having the ability to actually build your park? Like this is just drag and drop and pre-built zoo.
If anybody’s interested in some ZT2 I have a couple of series going on - Marine Park, Endangered Species, Extinct Animals etc. Peace out ✌🏼

Love how zoo building games with animals always put the effort and detail into the animals and leave the humans smoother and less detailed than the animals and often the humans are a combo of freaky and funny in terms of appearance.

The problem with this game is that they made it for the Xbox. Which means that fine control is going to be limited, especially when compared with a PC game. Which is fine for the Xbox. But when they ported it over to the PC, it still had the same limitations. So, for example, everything has to be a series of options. You can't just have a list and pick what you want from the list; you have to toggle through every single option until you get to the one you want. If you want to place a lion, you have to physically pass alpacas, bears, giraffes, jaguars, etc, until you get to "Lion". It's also a lot harder to freely place things -- if you want to build a fence in a PC game, it's no problem, you just click where you want to start the fence and drag to where you want it to end, but if you want to build a fence in a console game a lot of times you're juggling a joystick and a button and things get awkward, so they get rid of the fence placing altogether by making a bunch of premade exhibits so all you have to do is plop one down and you're ready to go. Which is great, but now all the exhibits look the same, and you can't delete a section of fence to release your creatures on an unsuspecting public. When they ported to PC, they kept everything exactly as-is. The result is a zoo simulator game that feels nothing like the original Zoo Tycoon series. If that makes sense?

I own the original zoo tycoon games, it was a fun and enjoyable experience. So one can image just how excited I was when I heard that they were remaking it for consoles.

I love this game
This isn't horrible, but it's not great either. I grew up playing and loving Zoo Tycoon 2, so seeing this is what's next is.... sad. I want the old Zoo Tycoon back. Why can't they just make it like it used to be, just a bit better since they have better technology now? This has great graphics, but it doesn't have nearly the same amount of customization, and that was part of what I loved. You could make it any way you wanted! And now it's just... meh. I love this series and don't want it to die out, so I just hope that they make it better in the future.

“Oh my god he’s got hollow eyes” actually that’s how eyes are meant to be. If you look at a dog side on (because it won’t punch you in the face) you’ll notice that the iris and pupil don’t correspond with the curvature of the cornea.
