I think the reason they’re remaking Thousand Year Door before the original is because TTYD is the fan favorite and you can still play the original N64 Paper Mario on Switch Online, whereas TTYD hasn’t had any re releases since its debut.
The N64 one also had rereleases on both Wii and Wii U's Virtual Console. So yeah, for about 15 years, there have been other ways to play Paper Mario, but no way to play TTYD unless you already had it or could afford to spend an unreasonable amount of money on a used copy.
That and imagine if they revealed 64 before TTYD, everyone would be begging Nintendo for TTYD and saying "now they have to do something with TTYD" it was smart to do it this way

What a time to be alive, two Famous Mario RPGs being remade one after another. I can't wait to experience Super Mario RPG & Thousand Year Door for the first time, as I heard nothing but good things about these two.
I think F-Zero 99 is a perfect fit for the 99 battle royale genre. That Mario one didn't really work super great. But it's out now and is very fun! I don't have a lot of fondness for the last F-Zero game that came out over a decade ago and I never had a lot of confidence they'd find something worthwhile to with the franchise in a modern gaming landscape, so I think this the smartest choice they could have made.

I will say that I did play Detective Pikachu and I absolutely liked it. It wasn't an amazing game, but it was really fun and a neat Pokemon spin-off title. I'm looking forward to this sequel for sure!

This was a great Direct for me as I'm getting so many games they've shown during it, but my favorite announcement is definitely the TTYD remake, as soon as I heard the first notes I recognized it and when I saw the book I couldn't believe that they actually remade it instead of just porting or remastering it and even those would've already been incredible! By the way, have you ever played the remake of Donkey Kong on the Game Boy, also known as Donkey Kong '94 Peebs? Because Mario vs. Donkey Kong plays like that and if you haven't I recommend eventually trying both as they're really good puzzle/platforming games!
As someone who played Detective Pikachu 1 on the 3ds "it was a cute, fun if simple Pokemon Ace Attorney with lots of saturday morning personality. I imagine if you were watching a letsplay of it, you'd be having a blues clues of a time"

This game is REALLY a market analysis study. If Nintendo sees enough people with high engagement on this title, they will get the information they need to either revive the series with a brand new game or leave it dormant as it already is. So all those F-Zero fans complaining are actually missing the point. THIS is your chance to show Nintendo how much you care about F-Zero. ALSO, by putting F-Zero 99 in Nintendo Switch Online service, they are broadening the appeal to those who never followed the series. It comes with the NSO package like Tetris 99 & the soon-to-be-delisted Pac-Man 99 (dumb decision in my opinion). So they'll pick up new fans with this chaotic 99 format which should jumpstart the series in Metroid Dread & Pikmin 4-like fashion altogether. I think it's a VERY smart move doing it like this. It is now in the players' hands. Do they REALLY support this series? Then play F-Zero 99 like crazy to show Nintendo you do.

It was a pretty decent Direct. It is amazing how much hype both Super Mario RPG and Thousand-Year Door still draw even decades later! 😅 Granted, they are fantastic RPGs! I kind of wish they also remade Paper Mario 64, too, though. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong remake was a huge surprise! I know it disappointed many Donkey Kong fans that he didn't get a new platformer! I owned and played it on the original GBA and it is really fun! I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a nice puzzle platformer!

Honestly, one of the most exciting things from this direct was Unicorn Overload. Vanillaware x Atlus is an incredible team-up
I just wish they'd bring Dragon's Crown to Switch, or at least Odin's Sphere or Muramasa.
I know absolutely nothing about Vanillaware, but I am hyped for Unicorn Overlord nonetheless for looking like a spiritual successor to Ogre Battle.

To get Peachette, you had to play as Toadette and pick up a specific powerup. Said specific powerup led to the Bowsette meme.
