I've been following rock music since the 60,s have seen them all, Hendrix, Cream, Led Zep ect. and i have to say this is right up there with em. what a guitar solo man wow
Wonderful 🙂👍John is excellent here , as he was throughout this era♥️👍🙂 His 59 Les Paul used here ended up in the ownership of Richie Sambora, who used it on the Bon Jovi 'These days' LP and tour, in recent years he swapped it back with the shop he bought it from as part of a deal on another 59 Les paul, the shop had bought it from a member of the Roses management after John quit the band. Wonder where it is now? Was once owed by the bloke from Cheap Trick, so I read somewhere years ago.
1st is great 2nd is great too. especially this song. ill never forget when i got this cd. i was waiting 5years to get piece of them. also im still waiting my bloody valentine... how many years ami waiting? i cant even remember that! lol
Apparently John wants to go ahead with it, it's just that they're trying to get Ian Brown on board with the idea. Still, I haven't got a single clue why everyone thinks Second Coming is one of the worst albums ever. I like it a bit more than the debut, but it does lack the anthems that The Stone Roses had... Breaking Into Heaven's one of the best songs on there too.
Johnny is the only one really enjoying this, with the Les Paul and just his demeanour on stage. Back in 89 he was just standing in one place playing the 'quiet' guitar player.
@Lukith66 Reni had already left the band in March 1995 (this footage above is August 1995), the person playing drums here is Robbie Maddix who played until the band dissolved completely.
Amazing how f-ing good Squire became on guitar by the end of the Roses! Just think what this band could have done if they'd manage to stay together... I still want to know what really happened between Ian and Reni, which was the beginning of the end of TSR.
No Mani is the bass player. Reni was the original drummer, he left and was replaced by Robbie Maddox Yes this is from the Feile Festival, Ireland 95 This tune is on the second album, its the first track
I saw them in Sydney in 95 and have Squire leaning back with his gibson shillouetted against the smoke tattooed on my brain! I also disagree with comments about 2nd coming being less than brilliant. It's fkn brilliant and I listen to it everyday. I can't say that about any other album. I still wear the flared jeans and the moptop hair coz its me altogether which is why I love the roses so much. they are me in the form of music! thk god Ian is still groovin away!
I love Squire's leaning and staggering around while rocking that guitar! He's the best. Ian just seems kinda half-there. He's nowhere near the same Ian from the Blackpool '89 video.
why reni?!?!? WHY?!?!? oh it could've been so much better with reni, the greatest drummer on earth. it's just not the same with robbie, he keeps good time, but reni was just so smooth, so natural. and i don't really care for the keyboards. don't get me wrong, i've listened to and studied every live performance i can find. i love the roses! -stone roses fan in west texas (the only one, i think)
I was at this gig was only 19 at the time paul weller played that day too.. great gig! think orbital closed the show that night they played after the stone roses i think..
Reni never toured the Second Coming. Reni was the backbone and soul of the Roses- and as good as John Bonham in my view. The Second Coming live stuff is the Roses going through the motions. But even an average Roses gig and tune wipes the floor with most other bands. Its a shame they blew it. Their groove was as good as Led Zep. Reni never drummed again. Brown and Squire went up their own arses. Only Mani came through it with dignity. What Squire forgot above all was: they made each other great.
My favourite stone roses song-what a tune. John Squire is a fucking epic guitarist-can't believe he's turned his back on music in preference for art. He is shit-hot in this version too. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of Ian Brown...although he was a great frontman over the years.
Ian said alot of the time on the tour he had to shout as Squire was using 4 hotwired Marshall Amps to bolster his guitar sound. If you listen to the acoustic tracks performed on the tour, Ian's voices a lot better.
I've no problems with Ian Brown's studio voice. Also I can see how Squire matured as a live guitarist between '89 and Second Coming. He seems lazy on Resurrection, Blackpool and his flanger drowned his playing on some songs.
rakyrock, with all do respect how on earth could you compare the stone roses to oasis? There is no comparison, stone roses are the reason there is an oasis and if you've ever listened to any stone roses albums you'd know that. Just because the stone roses didn't make the american pop charts doesn't mean oasis is better, oasis pales in comparison.
@shebangsthedrums89 Being a Manc i adore the Stone Roses, but i also love the grunge scene, and have you ever actually listened to Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains? Some of the greatest bands ever
I think Ian would have sang better, but John did have 4 Fender twin amps set up, so Ian had to shout rather then sing at times. On the acoustic tracks they did live like Your star will shine and Tightrope, his vocal was pretty good.
Nothing more to say than FUCKING GENIUS! The power in this song is incredible! Oh and shame Reni wasn't there... *Cries buckets of tears* :'o( But ego-Maddix didn't do too bad though... still would have preferred Reni...oh well
What The Fuck ohgimemo. Ian Brown has one of the best array of vocal talents ever. He's just not into it here, he's already left the band in his heart.
@campbelllovescock John and Ian wrote the debut all by themselves... I can't deny it, as much as i dislike the singing, i cannot deny the songwriting...
creamo i totally agree with you...the vocal intonation is so off especially when he sing I want to break right into heaven...the note is flat and he sustains it. For a musician its like YOU ARE SO CLOSE but not there...its hard to listen to without cringing.
okay, mani with long hair. probably squire, too. the film director must have been in love with ian brown and robbie maddix -- you don't see anyone's face other than theirs. and, frankly, it just doesn't sound like squire normally sounded live, in my opinion.
I think you'll find that Ian's lack of singing ability held the band back after 5 years and hence the split following the second "heavily" produced album which was squire showing how much he liked Jimmy Page imo.
@JustAFocus Couldn't agree more...Still, i find a sort of charisma in Ian, wich is a plus... But anyway, a shitty singer surrounded by really talented musicians... That's the truth...
yea brown cant sing... but this is fine.. no really if you have watched the all other the stoneroses live.. its actually quite enough.. i like reni better than that rasta thou...
The band sounds great but Ian's vocals are very poor, probably the result of too much boozing and smoking. Nevertheless, a great, great band that I wish I could see live.
I don't think that's John Squire. Definitely not Reni, and it doesn't look like Mani, either. Probably this is 96 and not 95. Aziz and Robby Maddix. Don't know who would've replaced Mani.
One of the best wah solos I've ever heard best band of all time
I've been following rock music since the 60,s have seen them all, Hendrix, Cream, Led Zep ect. and i have to say this is right up there with em. what a guitar solo man wow
Agreed!
This album aged marvelously
Had the pleasure of seeing them the second time around in my town of Glasgow....magical.
They're born marvelous gold! The Best band of all times! I'll never get sick to listening and watching!
Wonderful 🙂👍John is excellent here , as he was throughout this era♥️👍🙂 His 59 Les Paul used here ended up in the ownership of Richie Sambora, who used it on the Bon Jovi 'These days' LP and tour, in recent years he swapped it back with the shop he bought it from as part of a deal on another 59 Les paul, the shop had bought it from a member of the Roses management after John quit the band. how many years ami waiting?
i cant even remember that! lol
Squire rocks it with his solo at the end - Legendary
本当にカッコいい
Totally agree with Johnny1lap, Squires is defo up there with the best, this track shows off his Mastery of his instrument, love it! Jx
4:10 - 6:20 is why I love music
That's true a Les Paul and a Marshall & right pedals are a match made in heaven...Killer tones what a great solo....
Fender Twins!!
Apparently John wants to go ahead with it, it's just that they're trying to get Ian Brown on board with the idea.

Breaking Into Heaven's one of the best songs on there too.
Yes, this track is incredible!
My favourite stone roses song. Squire is quality. What a fucking tune!
I was playing this album last week when driving second coming a brilliant.
Johnny is the only one really enjoying this, with the Les Paul and just his demeanour on stage. Back in 89 he was just standing in one place playing the 'quiet' guitar player.
@Lukith66 Reni had already left the band in March 1995 (this footage above is August 1995), the person playing drums here is Robbie Maddix who played until the band dissolved completely.

most influential british guitar band of the last 20 years
Or of the last 40 years now :)
No Mani is the bass player. Reni was the original drummer, he left and was replaced by Robbie Maddox
Yes this is from the Feile Festival, Ireland 95
This tune is on the second album, its the first track
music (combined effort) is stellar!
Ippinson & Squire smashed it
The kingdom's all inside.
I was there. Great memories of a great gig!
I saw them in Sydney in 95 and have Squire leaning back with his gibson shillouetted against the smoke tattooed on my brain!

So nice
CLASS
f... great guitar!!
I was at this. Ian brown spoke only once ,to say he'd met Gerry Adams the day before.
Think that was mani said that. Best gig of my life.
Me too, fantastic gig. Squire was on fire.
I love Squire's leaning and staggering around while rocking that guitar! He's the best.
Ian just seems kinda half-there. He's nowhere near the same Ian from the Blackpool '89 video.
you nailed that bud, spot on comment.
hahaha this was a day before i was born
awesome.
Fucking miss this band sooo much.!!
Ippinson fucking rocks this.
why reni?!?!? WHY?!?!? oh it could've been so much better with reni, the greatest drummer on earth. it's just not the same with robbie, he keeps good time, but reni was just so smooth, so natural. and i don't really care for the keyboards.

i dont care how bad they were. i just want they to play again
GODS.
Ian just isnt into it..but John rocks it!!
Reni never toured the Second Coming. Reni was the backbone and soul of the Roses- and as good as John Bonham in my view. The Second Coming live stuff is the Roses going through the motions. Browns vocals live, let the band down big time. The band was so tight musically by this stage they sounded so damn good.
In Ian's defense the big problem seemed to be hearing himself. John used two Fender twins..cranked all the way up.
@clinteastwood6875 Ian was just a shit singer mate.
Uber Cool!!
59 Burst sounds supreme
My favourite stone roses song-what a tune. John Squire is a fucking epic guitarist-can't believe he's turned his back on music in preference for art.
He is shit-hot in this version too. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of Ian Brown...although he was a great frontman over the years.
ian doesn't look like he's into it. looks kinda bored. squire seems real into it.
oh why couldn't reni stick around for some live 2nd coming!?!?
Still the top british band of my generation!!!!!!!!!!FUCK RANGERS, FOREVER
great nite.got to smoke a joint with tricky on the saturday.one cool fella.
Ian said alot of the time on the tour he had to shout as Squire was using 4 hotwired Marshall Amps to bolster his guitar sound. If you listen to the acoustic tracks performed on the tour, Ian's voices a lot better.
Hotwired FenderTwins.. 2 in use 2 as backup as he was dining them to 11!!!
classic
Can't beleive I was there...
*flashback..* :-o
I've no problems with Ian Brown's studio voice. Also I can see how Squire matured as a live guitarist between '89 and Second Coming. He seems lazy on Resurrection, Blackpool and his flanger drowned his playing on some songs.
This makes me want to return to England
i know the audio from this was used on Crimson Tonight..Does anyone have a link to the whole gig ?
rakyrock, with all do respect how on earth could you compare the stone roses to oasis? There is no comparison, stone roses are the reason there is an oasis and if you've ever listened to any stone roses albums you'd know that. Just because the stone roses didn't make the american pop charts doesn't mean oasis is better, oasis pales in comparison.
i was there...fu*king brill
Can't wait to see them at T in the Park and Heaton Park. Just hope Dirty North are supporting them :)
@jarbo26 this gig was in cork ireland
I'm amazed to find 2 songs from Feile on RUclips - I assume the whole gig was filmed. Anyone know whether this is available anywhere?
The best ull do is 4 tracks on the crimson tonight EP. Or a 5 track broadcast on 2FM from Oct 95 that included Love Spreads as an extra track.
Sorry for the 11 year delay in my reply!!!
@shebangsthedrums89 Being a Manc i adore the Stone Roses, but i also love the grunge scene, and have you ever actually listened to Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains? Some of the greatest bands ever
I was there quality weekend!! The Orb and Orbital played too pity Reni had left the band by then!
Is Ian even trying?
Pretty sure this is the version from Crimson Tonight with piano added in
@campbelllovescock Nut nut nut, Mani and Reni and were the ones who brought the Groove, dude, Squire, Couzens and Brown were the Colours.
I think Ian would have sang better, but John did have 4 Fender twin amps set up, so Ian had to shout rather then sing at times. On the acoustic tracks they did live like Your star will shine and Tightrope, his vocal was pretty good.
How did he get so good on guitar????
Jimmy page is his idol
Sold his soul? He was pretty good on 1st album too
Nothing more to say than FUCKING GENIUS! The power in this song is incredible! Oh and shame Reni wasn't there... *Cries buckets of tears* :'o( But ego-Maddix didn't do too bad though... still would have preferred Reni...oh well
@Lukith66 he left the band before this tour
I fuckin love the roses, but my god... does Ian even give a shit in this performance? Still one of THE greatest bands of all time... no doubt.
they just wasnt in the same league without reni
Is this reni drumming on this, or was it after he left?
What The Fuck ohgimemo. Ian Brown has one of the best array of vocal talents ever. He's just not into it here, he's already left the band in his heart.
@campbelllovescock John and Ian wrote the debut all by themselves... I can't deny it, as much as i dislike the singing, i cannot deny the songwriting...

that live perfromance aint terrible. Its fukin mint.
okay, mani with long hair. probably squire, too. the film director must have been in love with ian brown and robbie maddix -- you don't see anyone's face other than theirs. and, frankly, it just doesn't sound like squire normally sounded live, in my opinion.
Mhmm Wah
@aderham6 LMAO legend
Biblical
@thenewfella1994 hahahah^^i am breaking into heaven like ian right now:D
it is mani he just got long hair
I think you'll find that Ian's lack of singing ability held the band back after 5 years and hence the split following the second "heavily" produced album which was squire showing how much he liked Jimmy Page imo.
american's never really understud them ... they were loved on there own patch though...
thats the stone roses, ian brown is a showman, not a vocal coach lol.........
who the f is that playing drums ?? certainly ain't reni
these guys are the british equivalent of red hot chili peppers: uber-talented 3 musicians + a crappy (but good-looking) singer.
I love the music but the vocals are a bit crap
It was John Squire's great guitar playing that carried this album. The apathetic singing almost ruined it.
@JustAFocus Couldn't agree more...Still, i find a sort of charisma in Ian, wich is a plus... But anyway, a shitty singer surrounded by really talented musicians... That's the truth...
oh sorry. obviously robbie maddix
I dont think this is from Feile.!!
Reni was still in the band at Feile.
Agree - His vocals are shite but he is THE Voice and I love his crap singing too. How can u not sound good behind Squire, Mani and Reni???
Stone Roses would be perfect if he sang some octaves higher
The singer is renowned for singing out of tune. Great song, but Live????
yea brown cant sing... but this is fine.. no really if you have watched the all other the stoneroses live.. its actually quite enough..
i like reni better than that rasta thou...
The band sounds great but Ian's vocals are very poor, probably the result of too much boozing and smoking. Nevertheless, a great, great band that I wish I could see live.
haha the ironic thing is tht reni was black haha
I don't think that's John Squire. Definitely not Reni, and it doesn't look like Mani, either. Probably this is 96 and not 95. Aziz and Robby Maddix. Don't know who would've replaced Mani.
John sounds great as always, but Ian's voice is repugnant. The Roses post-Reni don't interest me much - nice clip though.
Horrible live singer...brilliant on album.
Power Of Autotune And Good Mixing x
brown's vocals are embarrasing. totally ruins the song....again.
