The way it just drops out of nowhere 3:05 is fucking unbelievable, arguably the greatest band ever regarding the ratio of songs to masterpieces. Words can’t articulate what it feels like listening to the roses
Although I love The Roses and have seen Ian Brown, Primal Scream and the Seahorses live, I can't agree with you. However, as mine is Quadrophenia, I doubt many would agree with me?
Mindblowing!! Ian brown sounds like ian brown. I love his voice. It was part of the roses unique sound. The second coming is one of the greatest albums of all time. End of
The stone Roses first album was the best album ever imo. However this is my favorite roses song. Browns voice was on the way down by the time of this live performance. Still better than anything i have heard by any band since.
saw the roses reading rivermead centre 95.ians vocals were overshadowed by the power and drive of the band.one of the best gigs of my lfe.they were unreal
Don't listen to these guys Surplus. As a Manc I appreciate the obscene difference between Mancs and Cockneys. As fans we are territorial. The highlight of The Roses live was Spike Island in Widnes so really music wasn't so Universal when it was commercially arranged for a large live audience in and around the Mancunian base after the fans had proven to follow the Roses and fair few mile for the love of it.
Thanks to Peter for posting this video. It's a pitty that the sound is not optimal. Anyways, John's solos are mind blowing. The band plays this song with sublime skill: great singing, powerful bass and epic drumming. Probably the best song of the best rock album of the 90s.
Our love, girl, is going through changes I dont know if im alive, dead, dying or just a little jaded Someone throw me a line You know i need it, i need it bad Lost in a maze of my own making No way out that i can find, send home your hard working jury Im going down this time Youd better believe it, yes, you had
John Squier is a total artist. You can include him in the same breath as Bowie for creation. Brown's input to British Music as an individual is well below Squier imo.
the other day i was in town. there was an amazing band playing on the street. after a while a drunkard showed up and started shouting and rambling. at that point they sounded just like this 1:37
Can't be bettered.. I've searched for studio version and only stumbled upon this classic... from Brixton no less. Because every time I tried searching studio.. i get that crappy server error thingy.... This is the real deal..!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was also here this night And remember the concert very well. It was truly extraordinary. Will never forget. I also saw the last concert they did in Reading. It was different.
By the time reading come Reni and squires had left .. they did benicassim as a warm up and it was that bad I was nearly crying …I was there working with another band and Ian as ever like mani total gentleman and great people even though their band had died … tax bills needed to be paid
I saw the Sheffield gig of this tour - Would like to have seen Reni but Maddix did a stand-up job. Squire was on fire but yet he left soon after. Strange world.
@TMSB31 So who 'can' sing the blues? It's a genre of music created by, and is synonymous, with the working class. It's not about what's in the throat, it's about what's in the heart.
Better picture quality than the vhs of this I have seen previously👍 Was it cold that night? Lots of coats and winter hats on stage😅 Don't the state of the art moving lights look primitive now, funny how fast technology moves on 🙂
You're damn right about Reni! What a drummer!! what a band and what a legend! Only drummer that comes close is Jimmy Chaimberlain (Smashing pumpkins) or Chili's drummer!
@ellycat I disagree. It may be easy to you,(and fair play to you!) and it may even be easy to get the basic riff down. But I think with with all the subtle little note-bends tucked away it's pretty tricky to get perfect. That's 1 of the things I love about Squire's playing, the attention to detail.
why reni? WHY?? couldn't you have stayed for a leg of a tour? it would have been so nice to have some live 2nd coming concerts recorded with the best drummer in the world!
a lot of people comment and say that the magic had gone when reni left, did them people see them on the second coming tour of the UK? i very much doubt it,coz they were tight, brown was as good as can be,squire was dynamite, mani was mani and robbie jay played bloody good drums.i saw them 6 times in all, from hacienda all the way thru to the shambolic reading performance.and anybody who said the magic had gone, obviously never saw the roses on this tour!
no worries mate, this isn't pc dotcom calling. And your right, it is bisexual. I was just playing around with what you said. Then again I love all the slang terminology for those who bat 4 both teams.

second coming is one of the greatest albums of all time
Form Emptiness Without a shadow of doubt. I've been listening to it all morning. Love it!! ❤️✌️
Of course it is!!!
Although I love The Roses and have seen Ian Brown, Primal Scream and the Seahorses live, I can't agree with you. However, as mine is Quadrophenia, I doubt many would agree with me?
Yep
i realize it's pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released tv shows online?
Mindblowing!! Ian brown sounds like ian brown. I love his voice. It was part of the roses unique sound. The second coming is one of the greatest albums of all time. End of
..a century, oh, it's nothing special. la la la la....
Has the heating broken down or something or was brixton saving electricity because of brown's singing
Second coming is the best kid . Wicked
Two words, John Squire
Awesome. Never thought they played this live. One of the highlights of Second Coming for sure.
The stone Roses first album was the best album ever imo. However this is my favorite roses song. Browns voice was on the way down by the time of this live performance. Still better than anything i have heard by any band since.
That guitar solo tho..
I was at this gig and it was great
I think I was too. They played two nights at Brixton, I dimly recall Ian Brown saying 'I've changed me hat' at some point...
They were fantastic.
the drop in this song never fails
I Dont give a crap what anyone says "Second Coming" was a Great Great album!!
Aye
True. But It did take a while longer to grow on me compared to their first album.
saw the roses reading rivermead centre 95.ians vocals were overshadowed by the power and drive of the band.one of the best gigs of my lfe.they were unreal
chills.... literally....
Heard it properly for the first time while on lsd and chills it did give me indeed
what i want to know is what the fuck is the camerman doing focusing on Mani when John Squire is doing one of the best guitar solos of all time?
Don't know the difference between a bass guitar and guitar.
@@matthewjdouglas6471 does one produce a bass sound and the other doesn't?
@@MrBadgerbingo I was referring to the camera man. Not you
What a work of art, I love this tune.
what a band, what a tune, makes me buzz every time i hear the stone roses!
best guitar playin of all time. top notch stuff. mon john squire
Unreal 👏🎶 John Squire is in a league of his own here 🤘
love this performance, squires guitar is just epic.
Super special song this would love to of been there x
I'm cryin', this song is so f***in' wonderful!!
Love that piano piece at the intro.
Second Coming is a mega album
Tightrope, Good times then Tears in a row, wow
I'm a London boy but the Mancs are on the ball here, incredible, superb
Incase you didn't realise music is a universal vibe
@Ronnie Mccoll I know I agree proper poncey southerner comment that wasnt it. Lol

@@robmaddison8645 Ian Brown has said himself that he doesn't recognize the North/South divide. It's just another way to divide us.
I miss the 90s so much .
Viva stone roses! From Bogota!
Viva Bogota! From the Stone Roses!
First 2 minutes or so are perfect
I listened this song maybe twenty years ago. I didn’t rememember how beautiful it is. This live is better than album version.
the keyboard sounds great

Still a fuckin' tune.

Alright alright Tel, take a breath, this is all a pretty straight Led Zep lift.
Simply amazing. As good as it gets
The best songs are in the key of Am, G, F. This one, Stairway, All along the watchtower etc...
MrJeppelin thanks for the pointer. Off to the notebook I go.
Epic. 11/10 Brown & Squire
go on squire ya wee champion!!!!
fucking love the tune. all i have to say. peace
the other day i was in town. there was an amazing band playing on the street. after a while a drunkard showed up and started shouting and rambling. at that point they sounded just like this 1:37
The song was written solely by Squire, music and Lyrics, like 2/3 of Second Coming
thank you for sharing.
Stunning
Thank you so much for the upload.,....just wish it was in better quality....still felt every ounce of emotion....thanx
Better quality? We didn't have camera phones back then. This is the raw unedited version, the real thing.

wot a video. get it through yer speakers. love it x
Ian sounds great here! What a performance!!
Great???😅😅
The fact that he wasn't drumming for them anymore by this stage can only add to his anonymity...
Classic......... fucking classic.
Exactly what I was thinking mate!!! How is it possible?!!!

the roses are my god and madchester is my church.......hallelujah..

@raith35 yeah, the Roses replaced religion for me around '97 or '98.
Music is my religion.
The Barnett likes this song, so I must love it too.

Classic
Was there 🎉
Great band. and nice "chullo" from Perú that he´s wearing.

the solo does sound alot like stairway to heaven but id rather listen to this anyday
No Stairway!
Got to my house in way back and sat in the car till it ended, and felt rushed that I had to get out the car
Love the piano nigel ippinson
Semi pointless factoid!!i drove from Scotland to Dresden and back again playing this song
How were you able to play the guitar and hold on to the wheel?

@julainosvl Well, there´s a guy called Jimmy Page to.
I am surprised that the Roses did this live as I heard Ian Brown hated this song and for the album he would only sing it once.
14 years old but i'm gonna say he hated it coz it's impossible to sing live
@julainosvl He is great but tbh this riff is pretty easy to play..
But like all good riffs, simple to play once someones already written it..
Musica de verdade...
This song sounds like it could have been an Oasis song
Oasis aren’t talented enough to write something like this
