Quick note: the tracks removed from CTGP this update were the following:
Desert Mushroom Ruins
DS Figure 8 Circuit
Icepeak Mountain
Lunar Spaceway
Nightlife Party
Sunset Ridge
While I don't necessarily agree with Figure 8 Circuit and Nighjtlife Party being removed, it's not enough to change the ranking for the update!

Figure 8 Circuit on top of being the lowest rated retro track in the pack, was one of the worst rated tracks in the pack at #215 among all demographics, #204 among comp, #211 among non comp, and #209 among creators according to the bi annually poll. It also got the lowest rating of every track in the removal poll so yeah, I think it was a good choice. Plus whenever you google worst Mario Kart tracks you'll probably see F8C mentioned even outside CT circles.
Three of my favorite tracks were removed. And replaced with castle tracks when we already have a bunch. HOW MANY FUCKING CASTLE TRACKS DO WE NEED? WORST UPDATE EVER AND HOW DARE THEY REMOVED ICEPEAK MOUNTAIN ON CHRISTMAS!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

6:55 It's based on "Laputa: The Castle in the Sky" which I think is their first movie.
These tracks look sick! I’m excited to try these out! Also, I think Castle in the Sky made CTGP history by being the only track with the smallest minimap which is really cool to see. Fav one for me is between Frantic Funyard and Wiimmfi Wonder World for sure
Castle in the Sky is an absolute masterpiece. I remember watching another custom track content creator drive on this track and I was blown away by it.

Great video! Laputa castle in the sky in one of my favourite animated movies, seeing how well the track is based off it makes me want to watch it again, based track!!!

Frantic Funyard's main difference from the version you played with Mayro was getting a 10% or so downscale. As certain areas like the spiral being too long was a big criticism.
Also I don't think Spooky Swamp was in CT Showcase, but you played an older version is in Skill Issue Pack. It's actually the oldest track here being from 2017 initially, updated in 2020, and then updated again in 2023.

- the phendrana update wasn't finished in time, so removing it took priority. I imagine it'll be readded once the update is completed
- studio ghibli made a movie called castle in the sky, that's what the track is based on
- ruinated peach's castle is inspired by league of legends, according to the wiiki the castle has succumbed to "ruination" or something idk I'm not familiar with the game (also gabi did gba ribbon road, n64 rainbow was cpfusion)
- wiimmfi wonder world does have an alternate version with a waiting room in the middle of lap 1. aside from that, this one did in fact not receive any major updates since the original version
Correct, my bad about Gabriela, I keep confusing the two for some reason 😂 also good to know about Phendrana, hopefully it gets back in soon cause I enjoy playing that one in KO’s 🙂

Anyone know how I can get more involved with the MKWii community? I recently hit 9999 VR through Wiimmfi but it doesn't seem like there's much more to do. I'd love to join servers, participate in more tournaments/competitions (I heard of Mogi lounge), be able to race online ghosts, and just generally culture myself with the present day community. Thanks!

MULTIPLE CTGP classics removed
TOO MANY CASTLE TRACKS!
The tracks I voted to get rid of were all kept and the ones I voted to keep were all removed.
I love Icepeak Mountain and am offended they axed that on Christmas.
Also love Desert Mushroom Ruins, unlike most.
