Sometimes, inconveniences are caused by faulty equipment, like with this Vw Polo, when the fuel gauge misreads and one runs out of gas.

Yes, also had to replace that sender and pump, because it started to become intermittent, and below a half tank it would show empty, bouncing around with low fuel level lit. you are lucky there, must be faster responding in the cluster software, because the older ones too about 30 seconds to go from full to empty, to avoid showing the fuel sloshing around, which is what wears out the sender unit. As a bonus you get a nice new fuel pump, and a new in tank filter sock as well. Just need to replace the in line filter on the end of those hoses then.
It does come as a complete unit as seen in the video Sean, best to replace it and not try to fix an old component, now it will work for another couple of years.

When I swing no fuel coming from the pump on the BLM polo took off the pipes and swing again and no fuel pushing out the pipes, I do not also hear the buzzing sound on the pump.
Sounds like the pump needs replacing.

What happens if you bend the spring steel arm a bit?

Sir I have cls 1.6 oil light (red blinking) after put new oil pressure sensor, it comes and go,and when I rev it somehow I can smell oil burn but oil level stay the same,around the topcover near sensor has some stains of oil n engines shakes in idle or let me say not smooth idle,(changed: ignition coils,spark plug n air filter, mountings all)still same performance, n when u turn steering engine sound changes,even operates window slight drop in sound,no one seem to help me

@@clintonkeet4485 I am afraid you might have bought a defective unit, I had that experience a few times over the years, some of the brands are not so good.
I'm having the same problem with my Microbus 2.3i. When it reaches quarter switches off but when float is outside and plugged in It doesnt only stop by quarter as it reads empty on the cluster but once I put it in the tank it goes back to reading quarter
It needs to be put in correctly, try turning it a little before locking it in.
Good day not sure if i will get a response on this but i have a Polo Playa 98 1.4 and the probem i have is my fuel gauge is going towards empty when i put in petrol. I replaced my fuel pump and replaced my cluster i checked my fuel relay but i still have the problem can anyone hlep with what to check or do next please.
It is the tank float that needs replacing.

Good day I wood like to find out what is the problem with my polo BAH 1.6i 2006 9n3 it will start in the morning and idle but when I drive it the will cut out at the stop of robots every time when the engin is hot it also got n rough idle engin shakes
Check the pcv unit, it could be taking in air, had this problem a few times.

Thanks for this. I did the same test with my replacement. Works out of the tank. Inside the tank, doesnt work. It did once, then dropped to zero as I was about to move off. Maybe I installed the pump the wrong direction. However my Polo 1.2 TSI 2015 does not have any markings which line up with anything outside. There are only two arrows on the pump one points to one outlet R which I assume is return. The other 'V' which points at the side of the pump but what on earth does V mean. Vorne? Which is front in German. Could you offer any help please? Car starts and runs fine, just showing empty. Also I can get the float to work in the tank but so far from the pipes for a connection. Makes no sense.
Make sure the replacement unit is exactly the same as the one you took out, any subtle difference will cause the unit not to operate correctly, also the position of the float is important, it has to be as the old one when removed.
Hi. What was the price of the fuel pump? I have tried buying one from midas, but the fuel pressure is lower causing a hard start after the car has been standing a while
It could cost between 2 and 4k depending on the brand.
Why not replace the sensor only
Not available loose and I recommend not to use a second hand unit.
mr.gary ive bought almost identical fuel pump same box at masterparts polo 1999 ...fitted it start up nicely but my fuel gauge dont work cuz my original fuel pump is vice versa to the one thats currently fitted ...is there maybe any solution ...ive done so much things myself because of your videos
You have to get the right unit for your car, it must be exact, not similar, unfortunately, John.

Hi I have an mk4 1.2 polo I just filled the tank all the way up at the morning it showed that my fuel tank was full after that I parked it for 10-12 hours and since that it showes that it's empty is it possible that the steel arm just got pushed too much and it stucked?
No, it seems it could be a blown fuse or some other electrical fault.
Papa Gary...my car when I press clutch there's a grinding noise...when I release it it goes away.. sometimes it it doesn't come.its golf mk2.iy might be a pressure plate ?
Sounds like a release bearing, but it could be the clutch activating plate that the release bearing activating rod pushes against it may be worn through.

If it is not a new pump then it could be about to fail.

It could be worn oil rings or valve stem seals, best to do a ring job and head recon.
