    Very cool, I’ve been going over your Triple Delay vids as I’m finally going to use it.
    I bought one straight up when you did your discontinued show. This pedal is really amazing, it still holds up sonically. I really get using a Baritone for ambient, you are in not limited at all when it come to range. Cellos, bass, viola and violin it’s all there. Luckily I has a Jerry Jone 3 pu Barirone. Thanks again for your passion and hard work

    I'm a fan of digital signal chains, so I get my frippertronics from a free plugin called "Aftershock triple delay". But, never could get one as good as yours. Your video gave me ideas about settings on my delay plugin :D

      The aftershock looks really cool. Looks like it is Windows only, otherwise, I would try it out.

      Ah, yes. It's only for Microsoft Windows. But, I found another one which is designed for "Frippertronics". It's called "Elottronix XL" and I think it has a Mac OS version, too.

    Thanks, Bill, for taking the time and energy to go through your effect setups. It's enormously helpful for me (and I'm sure others) that are trying to get their arms around the Triple Delay. I would not have thought of putting a "slap-back-reverse" delay in front of the long tape delay. I'm gonna walk over to my guitar and give that all a try.
    An aside: I'm not having joy with my LA Lady. Can't seem to get a sound I like and it seems hard to control. Plus the knobs seem really sensitive. I find the Neuro app interesting, and I've downloaded lots of patches, but it's a nuisance, and frankly, most of the library patches are pretty weird and over-the-top. In an already very complicated discipline (ambient guitar), I think this pedal is too much for me. I liked your MojoMojo demo and am considering picking that up. I have a Tube Screamer on the shelf also and may just go back to it..... Does this ever end? :) Bill

    Thanks again for another very informative clip. The stuff I am recording doesn't normally sound a bit like this; but like all guitarists I am always looking to learn new tricks, and your knowledge and understanding of how these pedals work is really helpful ;-) This sound from about 9.10 onwards is fabulous. Thanks again for sharing this!

    Do you always place your volume pedal directly in front of the delay pedal? What difference does that make? Also do you always run the triple delay in buffered bypass mode? Thanks I’m enjoying and learning a lot from your channel!

    I'll have to dig out some old electronics I have in storage; I'm sure between them all I can wrangle together 3 half decent delays. Very inspiring video (as usual), makes me want to play. Hi Bill, loved your video as always, all very well explained! But i have a question, i have the tc electronic flashback x4, what are the main differences between this and the triple delay? Greetings from Portugal 👊

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  5 лет назад

      The Triple Delay has 3 separate delay lines and no looper vs. a looper and one delay line on the X4. All the best!!

  • @lightnintrucker
    @lightnintrucker 7 лет назад

  • @cfibanez
    @cfibanez 7 лет назад +1

    Thanks for this. Inspired by your previous videos, I have been using the TC DittoX4 for long frippertronics delays. Wouldn't that have been an alternative here?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  7 лет назад

      Yes indeed. I still use my Ditto X4 quite often for Frippertronics style delays. In this case, I was looking for something a little different: 1) I wanted to use the 3 delays together, including the reverse delay and 2) I wanted to emulate tape degradation by using the Tape delay type on the Triple Delay.

  • @DanRelayer_Ukraine
    @DanRelayer_Ukraine 7 лет назад

    a good way to emulate that Fripp razing tone is to get a J37 plug-in from waves, and just turn all the knobs to the max, to get that super distortion that one can hear on Revolution (Fast) by The Beatles as well. Kramer tape machine plug-in would also work just fine

    • @chordsoforion

    Great Video! Have you ever tried the Compressor after the Overdrive (see That Pedal Show)?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  7 лет назад +1

      I have, but prefer the compressor before the delay. I find by smoothing out the dynamics before, I can run the distortion at a lower gain and still get the sustain I am looking for.

  • @Headsqueezer
    @Headsqueezer 7 лет назад +1

    I've been using a volume pedal (which I bought because of watching your videos BTW!) in front of the rest of my effects. You just inspired me to move it after the drive. But what about an octaver pedal?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  7 лет назад +1

      I would suggest trying the octaver in a couple of places to see what you like best. Assuming the front end of the chain is Guitar->Compressor, here are a couple of options: 1) Distortion->Octaver - this will octave divide the already distorted tone and provide more distinct separation between the original pitch and octave. 2) Octaver->Distortion - this will distort the octave divided note, blurring difference between the original pitch and the octave. In some cases, you may find you get "phantom" intervals such as a perfect 5th, depending on how the distortion and octave interplay. in both cases, I would suggest placing the octave pedal before the volume pedal to ensure good pitch tracking.

  • @knowhistory6

    This might be a dumb question but when you used more the one delay does it give the same effect as 2 delay being stacked. Also can you use a tape delay for 1 delay and reverse delay at the same time

    Hi Bill, what stings do you use for your baritone? Just ordered a 277 after months of being inspired by your videos, interested to hear what you would recommend!

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  7 лет назад

      On the PRS baritones I use D'Addario EXL 157 (14-68). These are gauges that the guitar ships with. For the Fender Telecaster baritone, I use Elixir 12302 (12-68). With this set, I swap out the second string, which is unwound, with a wound version of the gauge.

    You've probably mentioned this a million times, but I missed it: are your effects into the front end of the 11R, or in the effects loop?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  7 лет назад +2

      I normally run guitar into compressor and distortion and then into the 11R. The volume pedal, and all delays, reverbs and such are in the effects loop, which is set to mono in and stereo out.

    Hello. Id like to ask about tc electronic triple delay...is it normal that the mix knob is only heard when I turned it more than a quarter turn? Because from 0 to 1/4 turn...i cannot hear anything...its not taper response..

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  4 года назад +1

      It all depends on which TonePrint you have loaded. You can adjust the taper or ramp of the wet/dry mix in the TonePrint editor.

    What is the actual signal chain?
    The delays are stereo - does the overdrive pedal, bypass the TC?
    Many Thanks

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  3 года назад

      Compressor->Distortion->Amp Modeler (Avid 11R). In the FX loop of the 11R: Volume->Triple Delay->Neunaber Immerse. Yes, the delays are stereo and no, the distortion does not bypass the delay.

    Hello there. Love your work, its very unique. I'm looking at treating myself to a "big delay" machine. At the moment I have the TC Flashback (four knob, one button). Trying to decide between this TC triple delay, and the Strymon Timeline. The TC is a little cheaper, but I was thinking the Strymon does everything the TC does, and more, at a better quality level. I notice you have both, and are using the TC though. Do you have any thoughts? Many thanks for the music!

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  7 лет назад

      Hey - thanks for writing and letting me know you are liking the vids! As far as delay choice goes, The Timeline will indeed do all the delay types that the Triple does, but there are a few differences: 1) The Triple Delay has 3 discrete delays lines that can be used in parallel or series. The Timeline has a Dual setting that has 2 delays, but is more limited. 2) The Timeline is limited to 2.5 seconds of delay, the Triple Delay can do 7 seconds. 3) The Timeline can store lots of presets, the Triple Delay can't. 4) The Timeline has a built in looper, the Triple Delay does not.
      Hope this helps!

    • @DanRelayer_Ukraine

      can x4 TC do the same?

    • @CNCTEMATIC
      @CNCTEMATIC 7 лет назад

      No. Only one delay at a time with the X4. Waste of time compared to the basic Flashback, IMHO. All you get is a tap tempo button, which the Flashback does but you just strum the tempo on your guitar, and more looping buttons, which again the Flashback already has.

    Anyways -- J Rockett owes you a finder's fee. I ordered the Allan Holdsworth Overdrive pedal today, I believe this was the particular vid of yours that caught my ear using this pedal. I only use overdrives, not distortion per se, so this may answer my frustration of "dialing in" that overdrive I'm looking for. Thanks!
