Honestly tho, "curl up like a ball" didn't seem strange or make me hesitate, tho, personally.
By the time you figure that path out(unless you looked it up) plenty stranger things have occured.

Pretty much hahaha. like all the button prompts in the cutscenes are so weirdly placed, like you dont know when a button prompt comes up and you cant ever just sit back to watch a cutscene

I was expecting Assassin’s Creed® 2 to be here, but not for this one. I was thinking about the very first button prompt when you have to move baby Ezio’s limbs and head.
Also from assassins creed 2 is learning how to be a baby by pressing all the buttons. To kick punch and then cry

What about Bioshock Infinite? Where you press X to "accept baptism"... twice!
To be fair, weird as the sneak attack kiss is in Shadow of Mordor, that's game's tutorial is genius in its ability to not be the usual jarring annoyance on a second playthrough. It actually teaches you game mechanics *while conveying story*!

Watching Luke try to fit his entire lanky self onto a chair made my day. I imagine that took a few practice takes.
At the beginning of the video, when they had the "prompt" titled "Press spacebar for a dramatic pause", at first I just laughed a bit because it was their own weird prompt. Then I realized spacebar pauses the video, which would in turn cause a dramatic pause! That's so clever! 🤣
Halo 3’s prompt when you flip an elephant in forge mode on sand trap: “press X to... wait, how did you do that?”
Tbh, if you're called Will in a war zone then you're always in plenty of danger whenever someone says "fire at will"
Which is why you won't ever find Will Smith in an active war zone.

I was super unprepared for when it told us to hug leonardo in assassin's creed 2. Totally missed it, he probably took it the wrong way.
I think with the Dark Souls one, it's more like you're curling up into a ball so you're easier for the giant bird to carry. Crows are smart birds, she probably knows why you're there

Maybe it's because it's not entirely unexpected. The rest of these come out of nowhere. When Wheatley asks you to nod or whatever, and you jump, when he makes his next suggestion of "say Apple" you can kinda guess that it'll prompt again.
It still deserves a place on this list though. No doubt.

"Press (button) to time travel" in Titanfall 2 was a good one. Helps that what followed was one of the coolest gimmick-centric levels in FPS history.
That Spoiler Scarf bit was brilliant, you should totally sell that in the shop. With the word *S P O I L E R* running down it.
I'd want a variant, where the scarf has different spoilers written on it like "It was his sled" or "Darth Vader is Luke's father".

This! Surprised this was not included, especially since pretty much the only reliable method of flipping the elephant was quite spectacular.

In L.A Noire its pretty regular and happens multiple times. that's the same reason you don't see a game like Detroit become human in this list there are probably many weird button prompts but its regular and expected within the genre.

"Press X to time travel" from Titanfall 2 is probably the most strange, unexpected, and amazing prompt in gaming.
@SplinterCellRocks Effect and Cause, easily one of my all-time favourite FPS missions.
My personal favorite is "(B) Pet animal" from Assassin's Creed 3.
but this makes sense and more games should add this
Shadow of the Tomb Raider has this, too.
Minecraft at the beginning it tells you to punch wood which for a new player is very weird but for seasoned players is instinctive

This is how weird Dark Souls is: the button prompt 'Touch Bloodstain' went by on-screen without even a comment.

I've been taught that sticking your nose into and EXAMINING bloodstains is perfectly normal behavior since AT LEAST PS1 Resident Evil. C'mon.

It was already odd with Warthog, Scorpion, Wraith, Ban... hold up.. Now I'm no longer sure if the odd part is flipping massive vehicles, or the idea behind the naming contentions.

Where's "press A to pound" From Pokémon sun and Moon?
A button prompt I remember is Hold A to Heal Partner in The Evil Within, where you can somehow heal your buddy-cop Joseph Oda without the need for medkits, or any recognizable medical process, for that matter. You only need the powers of button-pressing.

weirdest moment of button promt to me was in wwe2k16, I pressed the button to counter and was informed that I pressed the button too soon and too late... simultaneously!
How about in Deadpool where you “press X to slap wolverine”

I think the reason why the scene in Arkham CIty still has the body chalks in it is because of Strange. He drew it there as a part of his big plan in order to dishearten Batman. If I'm not mistaken, if you visit the site, you'll come across an audio log from Strange.

There is of course the always classic “SPACE to speak” from Portal 2. Possibly most weird by the fact that it doesn’t do what it says on the tin.
The one that just really caught me off guard was at the ending of Final Fantasy XV when you all of a sudden have to press a button to use the Ring of the Lucii to finish off Ardyn during a cutscene after like 15ish minutes of cutscenes. My controller actually turned off and I had to turn it back on and reconnect it just to hit the prompt

In Dead Cells, before you get the runes, there are button prompts to "tickle" the things you grow vines from, and prompts to "rub" the teleportation sarcophogi.
