Sorry for my absence! Recently these videos have been getting almost no views and its difficult to put in a lot of effort without seeing many results. I've been brainstorming ideas on different types of chess videos I can make, but until I find a definitive solution, I will keep posting theoretical videos like these. I hope you all enjoy this!
We may be few, but your videos are easy to understand and very helpful. I personally like them a lot (especially the way to fight the panov against the caro). Keep going and happy new year
Hey man, same happened with me and another couple chess creators i know! I took a big break because of it too. Super disheartening, but just gotta stick with it! Keep it up dude :)
Amazing video! Your explanations are so easy to understand, but they aren't waffly like most chess youtubers' explanations. Your move choices are really great, I would have never found this myself, and your analysis is really amazing! And all for free as well. Keep going, this channel is severely underrated!
Thank you so much man, I was trying to fill the gap which was the lack of publicly accessible content regarding these openings and I am very happy to hear that this video was sufficient for you.
I’m trying to do the same, because I like looking at new ideas in openings, and refutations and stuff. But those videos get nothing compared to the cheap ish, more boring shorts that I make
RUclips algorithm is tough, some of my best videos don't get any views either. It's all about viewer retention/creating engaging content which proves to be very difficult when you're making educational chess videos.
No worries and thank you for watching! I could definitely make a video on fighting the English Defense, will make it one of my next few videos. Cheers.
I dislike the Benoni because it's annoying to face, so technically, it's a good defense to play. Most people don't study it deep enough, so you can get good positions majority of the time. I personally play the Grunfeld and the Nimzo Indian against d4, I like both openings, Grunfeld is more theoretically challenging and overall complex, and the Nimzo, while straightforward, is very very strong.
@PassedPawns I really appreciate that insight. Thanks. I'm finding the Benoni is powerful, but horrible when the opponent knows how to counter. I mean decimatingly horrible. So I feel the lines are too risky so far in my experiments with it. I'll try your suggested defenses for awhile. But probably we should all just go to the Modern like Magnus. Lol
@@EvanEvansE3 No problem, happy to help! I agree, the Benoni gets crushed against a player who is very well prepared, but those are rare to find. Good luck with the Nimzo and Grunfeld! The nice thing about the Modern, or rather just starting with 1. g6, is that it easily transposes to multiple defenses (including the Grunfeld).
Very good video...I'll try out some of your ideas in a future game. These types of instructional videos are a more promising ways to gain subscribers than going over top level games, I think. There are tons of RUclipsrs doing the game commentary stuff. Cheers.
Thank you for watching! Glad you found the video useful. You're probably right, there is a lot more competition in covering top level games, in comparison to these types of videos. My thought process lies in the idea that maybe covering top level games will attract a broader audience? Some instructional videos (like the whole Nimzo-Indian series) has gotten little to no views so my hope was in attracting viewers through trending topics. Regardless, my coverage of tep level games has a very low performance too, so it doesn't really matter. I like doing these types of videos as I believe I add some form of value to this platform rather than just recycle the same thing every other chess RUclipsr has already said. I will just have to continue experimenting until something works. Once again, thanks for watching!
Me too. I play the Catalan and Jobava and for a while I kept losing points to the Benoni. The lines I showcase, I personally use in my both my online and OTB games and they work well against everyone. Hope you find this useful!

Sorry to hear that man, and you're right, consistency is key. Glad to see you've been uploading again.

i like d4 openings but i’m a beginner so i’m excited to learn new ways of responding thank you
Hope you find this video useful, thank you for the comment!
Very nice, thank you! Do you have plans on a video against the English Defence?

whats your rating if you dont mind me asking
What's your preferred response to 1.D4 if you dislike Benoni so much? What defense strategy in your opinion is best against D4?

Do you have the PGNs to this? It was very good. I am a d4 player show it was really helpful
Yes, I do! Sorry about the late response, I just got back home from outside the country, I will send you the PGN tomorrow once I get to my PC.
Just in time. Benoni gets me every time as a Jobava player. Hate the benoni
