it’s been a while but i have a couple questions!! i have a 2011 hypermotard 796 and my clutch has started slipping. did a little research and realized it might be the slave cylinder or the pushrod instead. how would i tell if the slave cylinder is at the end of its life? also, with the bike off and and leaned over on the kickstand, oil started running out of the pushrod hole when i took it out. is this normal or does it mean the pushrod has been spinning and drilling out the clutch pack?
Removing the slave on a hypermotard should be the same process, so that is where I would start and check the o-rings. They usually become hard with time and start leaking oil. Hopefully that will fix your issue as I recall correctly the slave cylinder isn't serviceable and you will need to replace with an after market one.
Hey man. I did this same fix to my 848, but after a little while riding it, the clutch wasn’t grabbing. Tinkered with it a little more and it was fine. Flash forward a few months, the clutch is slipping like crazy. Have to have any issues? And tip for putting the rod back in? Is there a correct way? Thanks man!
Make sure the rod is inserted the correct way(o-rings should be on the outer side). However if you have clutch slippage I'd check the clutch slave itself for leakage(clutch slaves are not serviceable AFAIK) and replace in that case. My clutch handle lever is very stiff as it is by default. It's also good to check the clutch plates themselves as they might be worn out depending on your bike mileage + riding style.
What about inside the slave? That’s where the leak would be coming from. The clutch rod is lubricated by the engine oil. If the slave is leaking the slave needs to be taken apart not just removed?
If i remember correctly the clutch slave is not serviceable and no service kits are available. You may find someone that can probably fix it but it much more worth to buy a new aftermarket one which will also make the clutch lever much easier to pull.
Where about’s in Malta are you from mate, my mother’s from St Paul’s Bay.

Are you from Russia ??
No I'm not :)

This looks like an oil leak not a slave cylinder leak...
Not exactly the clutch slave true but the shaft which the slave pushes(o-rings were totally shot on that)
Why you put Masks?? 😂
