For the acoustic weeks I strongly, whole-heartedly recommend the acoustic version of Passing Through from Cult of Luna m.ruclips.net/video/rjESX_MWpdY/видео.html
Wow, finally some Isis! Lots to discover here. Each album is a very different beast. I highly recommend checking out their track "Syndic Calls", it's on the album "Panopticon". Another, instrumental masterpiece of tension is "Weight" off their album "Oceanic", a monumental record that helped shape the genre. "Dulcinea" or "Holy Tears" off their album "In the Absence of Truth" are good choices as well that showcase their melodic development. To me, they feel like a more organic Tool, which are more 'mechanical' if that makes sense.
In the post-metal genre, there is also a band called Cult of Luna that you should listen to one day :). Songs like Three Bridges, Lights on the Hill, Finland and many more are absolute gems.
Curiously, Cult of Luna is not working with me... I don't know why... Russian Circles, Pelican, Toundra, God is an Astronaut, If These Trees Could Talk, yes. Cult of Luna, no... :-p

@@Psych21 Honestly no. Interesting first choice here Geebz. Isis is one of my all-time favorites. This is towards the end of bands recorded music, but I think you would enjoy lots of their music. Much of it being quite heavier than this piece. Check out, 'So Did we', 'Holy Tears', 'Garden of Light', or 'From Sinking'.

That Palms record absolutely, to me, the most underrated album I can think of. Was working in record industry at the time of release so got lucky with getting a vinyl of it pre-release. Was just blown away. Must have put it on 5 6 times in a row!
@@harleythesalami6956 So true! I think as a debut it's extraordinary, just as an album regardless. They're all seasoned musicians and special as they're ex members of Isis and Moreno of Deftones. Aaron Turner also has two other projects he is a member of aside from Isis, which sadly drew to a close in 2010 - Old Man Gloom and SUMAC. In short, I would describe Old Man Gloom as being a post-metal band that incorporates elements of sludge and doom metal into the mix alongside a bit of post-hardcore. SUMAC is similar in genre, a sort of sludgey post-metal, however the styles and themes of the two vary quite a bit and thus they sound fairly different from one another. I believe he's also in a few other projects, but I cannot recall what they are off the top of my head.
Aaron Turner has a couple of other projects worth checking out as well, Old Man Gloom and Sumac. Isis belong to post-metal, which is basically a genre which is pretty much defined by a band called Neurosis. Almost every other post metal band draws some degree of influence from them. Through Silver In Blood is a good place to start with Neurosis. Other bands to check out in the genre are Cult of Luna, Intronaut and Pelican.
Oh man ISIS. I was heartbroken when they broke up. There's such a plethora of amazing songs by these guys. Wills Dissolve, Dulcinea, Garden of Light, So Did We.... I miss them every day.
At last! Certainly worth a deep dive, like others have mentioned, each album is different and i would say they dont have a bad album to their name. They are either great or exceptional. My favourite album is probably Panopticon. That album also has a direct link to Tool as Justin Chancellor plays guest bass on the track "Altered Course".
Really good song to get started with them, though it's from their final album and was one of two written after they toured with Tool (In the Absence of Truth was the other.) Speaking of Absence, "Garden of Light" is my all-time favorite song period, so I'm gonna have to suggest that one, but "In Fiction" is an incredibly close second place. On the keyboardist (Bryant Meyer), he also serves as a third guitarist when needed. Five dudes total, Aaron Turner does all the vocals and is the lead guitarist. Aaron has gone on to form several sludgier bands like Old Man Gloom and Sumac. He's done some noise stuff too. These guys, along with Cult of Luna and, wait for it, NEUROSIS are the "holy trinity" of what folks call post-metal. I've commented about Neurosis twice already ("Through Silver in Blood"), so for Cult of Luna, I'd check out "The Silent Man," "Ghost Trail," or "The Fall". And as always: "Onda" by Jambinai. They could easily share a stage with Isis, if Isis were still around.
Interesting side note, their drummer was Danny Carreys drum tech I know that everyone is gonna be coming at you with suggestions, but if you ever plan to do another isis song i would suggest "Carry" or "In Fiction".
YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!! This band is the king of build ups!!! They took me down a very cool path of Post Metal bands (Jesu, Mouth of the Architect, Pelican, Red Sparowes, and Rosetta to name a few). Their album “Panopticon” is one of those rare albums that I can just leave on loop for hours to chill out and let my mind wander. Highly recommend that one!!! Favorite track: Altered Course Thanks, Jeebz!!! Keep ‘em rollin’ :-)
Yessss! ISIS is the definitive post metal band. Check out songs from their albums Pantopticon and Oceanic, really cohesive, epic, instrumental music. Also check out Cult of Luna and Neurosis. Both different, but both Post Metal.
Love this band so much. Gonna throw out a few recommendations for stuff in this ball park as I always look forward to hearing your view point... ISIS - Grinning Mouths, Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas - The Wreck of SS Needle, Cult of Luna - DIM, Neurosis - A Sun That Never Sets, Red Sparowes - Buildings Began to Stretch Wide Across the Sky. Keep it trippy!
This was my favorite on Wavering Radiant. That split release they did with The Melvins is an absolute masterpiece. Panopticon will always be my favorite though. (Edit for spelling.) (Edit 2 PLEASE listen to Pliable Foe. You don't even need to analyze it. You'll love it.)
Great video! I was so glad I was able to see Isis open for Tool before they disbanded. It was awesome to see Justin Chancellor rocking out on the side of the stage playing bass on one of the songs for the set.
Also Isis did have a keyboard player. Fun fact on this album Adam Jones plays guitar on “Hall of the Dead” and keyboards on “Wavering Radiant”. Another connection of this bad with a different artist you have reviewed is that this record was released on Ipecac records which was founded by Mike Patton from Mr. Bungle.
I don't know why I keep seeing ISIS pop up now in reactions but I'm glad it is. I used to listen to them years ago, and honestly sometimes forget about them. I think I found them through Tool. They have a cover of Hand of Doom by Black Sabbath that's really good, would be an interesting one to check out.

Nice pick! Isis is a grossly under appreciated band. Threshold of Transformation is a killer track on that record too, def recommend doing a video on it as well!
Got into Isis and post metal from a band called Spotlights which I came across on Bandcamp. The drummer from Isis produced one of their albums Seismic.
Have been listening to Isis for about 12 years or more now. When I listen to an Isis album I just get lost in the music, it stimulates my brain making me reminisce about loved ones I have lost but also makes me think about big existential questions. No other of the bands I love apart from Tool has ever had this effect on me. The last few minutes on the song ‘threshold of transformation’ is just the perfect way to go out as a band
I got to see Isis live. They opened for Tool in Boston at the show right around the time of the release of 10,000 Days. I remember they played this song. Then I got this album. I love this album.
Geebz, you are doing an incredible job, I really learn a lot about my favorite music that you decompose and about music in general from your videos. Thank you so much for all that, sir!
7:05 At this part, picture yourself relaxing backward into your plush armchair or whatever. It's that kind of relaxation that takes you higher up spiritually, substance use can be involved, I really don't judge. But you get there, and there's this array of ghosts talking to you. Ghosts that have meaning to you. You were with me then and always Through the fluttering veil of frozen blue, A hooded figure cuts its path To cleave the night in two. Pull its outer husk from its body and the rest escapes, And there upon the ground the remnants of our struggle. God I love this band so much.
Geebz, huge fan of yours. Have been silently observing listening since your Sober reaction. I have not put in a request yet but I feel overcome with the need to shed some light on the band 'The Moth Gatherer'. This is likely the very best band you've never heard of. Extraordinary composition. I can't imagine why these guys aren't spoken about more. You could start anywhere in their discography, but I recommend the song Pale Explosions off of the album 'The Earth is the Sky'. I guarantee you won't regret giving it your time of day, and I think the band would really benefit from the exposure your channel would provide. Please take a chance on a random fans opinion. 🙏
Happily surprised at seeing Isis on here .Please check out their other masterpieces , all unique ! Grinning Mouths , Altered Course - Panopticon OR The Beginning and the End , Weight - Oceanic
It’s wild how deftones, TOOL, and ISIS are all connected (and that you’ve now decomposed all 3!). Naturally, you’ll have to decompose PALMS (Chino from deftones and members of ISIS). I was lucky enough to see their first show and Adam, from TOOL, was a surprise guest on one of their tracks! So we had deftones, TOOL, and ISIS all on one stage playing at once. Amazing moment!!
Awesome, Please check out: Cult of Luna - Cygnus Mgła - Exercises in Futility V Meshuggah - Dancers to a Discordant System I think you will enjoy those!
Glad you've finally got to ISIS. Do yourself a favor and dig around, whether you share it with us or not... Oceanic, Celestial, Mosquito Control... I'm a fellow greybeard, I can honestly say I listen to Oceanic every time I go for a long drive...
I have never actually seen anyone react to my favorite band. Drummer is from my home state. Check out Threshold of Transformation from this album. Garden of Light, Wrist of Kings, you honestly can't go wrong with any of their material in my opinion. But I'm ultimately very biased lol
Thank you so much for the Isis love. They're among my favorite post-rock bands, but it's so hard to recommend for a venue such as this due to their build dynamics. So much requires the listen of whole albums for the context to the individual tracks. "Weight" is an utterly phenomenal track, but again hard to react to.

One of the greatest bands ever in my book. Awesome to see you listening!
Now he just needs to get into Converge for my head to finally explode.
Just like you said in yesterday's video, "I never expected to see Isis on this channel," and here we are. Can't wait to hear your notes after work.
20 minutes 40 years is among their best also. Altered Course from their album Panopticon, features Justin Chancellor during the bridge.
Thanks for doing this one! I will always love this band.
Wow, what a pleasant suprise! This is my absolute favourite band, more please!!!
One of the first post-metal bands that I discovered many years ago. You will easily fall down the post-metal rabbit hole if you aren't too careful.
Was just talking about this song to someone last night, thanks for the awesome break down.
Isis is an amazing band. One of my all time favorite bands that started my journey into post metal and influenced my taste in metal for the future
Interesting side note, their drummer was Danny Carreys drum tech
I know that everyone is gonna be coming at you with suggestions, but if you ever plan to do another isis song i would suggest "Carry" or "In Fiction".
Another amazing Boston band .. seen them hundreds of times
They played there last show in my home town montreal 2 months before I ever heard of them lol. Just missed em
Favorite track: Altered Course
Thanks, Jeebz!!!
Oh fuck and *Shels - Conference of the Birds!
One of my favorite bands and this is my favorite song.
This was my favorite on Wavering Radiant. That split release they did with The Melvins is an absolute masterpiece. Panopticon will always be my favorite though.
(Edit for spelling.)
(Edit 2 PLEASE listen to Pliable Foe.
Bungle.
Great stuff. Absolutely recommend their song “Pliable Foe”, one of the best.
Oh hell yeah! Such an amazing band! Long, progressive, intelligent metal at its very best.
True i even see hiphop heads reacting to Isis recently, loved to see it. They're severely underrated outside of the genre.
thank you geebz. was waiting for this since day one.such an important band... wish for more isis in the future. try neurosis too, rosetta, cult of luna , amenra. so many incredible bands in this ''area''. cheers
Nice pick! Isis is a grossly under appreciated band. Threshold of Transformation is a killer track on that record too, def recommend doing a video on it as well!
Hell yes! Favorite band. So glad to see you getting to them
you gotta check out purify by Neurosis! theyre big with isis in the post metal genre!
Got into Isis and post metal from a band called Spotlights which I came across on Bandcamp.
The drummer from Isis produced one of their albums Seismic.
One of my favourite tracks EVER!
I didn't watch the video yet, but I've been craving someone to do this band... who better than you!
first time hearing this song absolutely blew my mind
That was excellent Geebz! Thank you, wasn't aware of these guys
Aww man.. this band! I still remember i was jam this song on my collage
This was incredible. Just added to my Spotify.
You should totally try “Through Ash” by Moon Tooth
@@HaphazardJoy absolutely 💯 agree.
Awww yes Geebz. From Tool to Clutch to Isis, you’re hitting all my favourites, and what a track to choose! 🤘🤘🤘
Threshold is an immense album and career closer.
Geebz you give me so many bands to listen to !
You were with me then and always
Through the fluttering veil of frozen blue,
A hooded figure cuts its path
To cleave the night in two.
Pull its outer husk from its body and the rest escapes,
And there upon the ground the remnants of our struggle.
God I love this band so much.
Thanks you for doing ISIS!
Would love to see you do The Ocean as well.
oh no...he's headed straight for Converge, Old Man Gloom, and Cave In
Geebz, huge fan of yours.
Grinning Mouths , Altered Course - Panopticon OR
The Beginning and the End , Weight - Oceanic
It’s wild how deftones, TOOL, and ISIS are all connected (and that you’ve now decomposed all 3!). Naturally, you’ll have to decompose PALMS (Chino from deftones and members of ISIS). I was lucky enough to see their first show and Adam, from TOOL, was a surprise guest on one of their tracks! So we had deftones, TOOL, and ISIS all on one stage playing at once. Amazing moment!!
These guys are brilliant.
Love it. You've been churning out a bunch of my favs lately. Though I watch every video you release anyway, this has been a lot of fun.
Isis hell yeah! So I think it's time for Neurosis - Stones from the Sky and Cult of Luna - Waiting for You or Leave me here. :)
Still here! Great song choice, my dude. Check out Hall of the Dead off Wavering Radiant, Adam Jones from Tool plays on it and it's awesome.
Isis is fantastic and excellent musicians. Definitely one of my top 10 favorite bands.. Check out harper lewis from band Russian Circles.
ISIS deserved so much more recognition and analysis than they got during the years they were together
Best we can do is continue getting them more recognition so they eventually feel like they have no choice but to regroup lol
essential track for any distance running playlist
Garden of Light by ISIS will blow your mind!
One of my all time favorites. Their sound resonates with me like no other. Love your videos, keep it up!
I love this band and this album and this track is so dope.
Awesome, Please check out:
Cult of Luna - Cygnus
Mgła - Exercises in Futility V
Meshuggah - Dancers to a Discordant System
I think you will enjoy those!
Glad you've finally got to ISIS. Do yourself a favor and dig around, whether you share it with us or not... Oceanic, Celestial, Mosquito Control...
I'm a fellow greybeard, I can honestly say I listen to Oceanic every time I go for a long drive...
One of my calls - I am so grateful.
One of my all time favorites; Gets me every single time!
Finally Isis! And the song I recommended! Yes!
I have never actually seen anyone react to my favorite band. Drummer is from my home state. Check out Threshold of Transformation from this album. Garden of Light, Wrist of Kings, you honestly can't go wrong with any of their material in my opinion. But I'm ultimately very biased lol
Threshold of Transformation is a great track! One of their best songs
Love Isis! Got to see them open for Tool back on the 10,000 Days tour. Unbelievable experience from both bands.
Amazing video. Was waiting for you to do something from Isis, which is one of the best bands, sad that they don't play anymore although in my dreams they reunite for a 5th album.
Other amazing songs by them;
-hand of the host
-syndic calls
-wills dissolve
So many others
Chino from Deftones and members from ISIS formed a band called Palms that you should definitely check out. Listen to the song "Future Warrior" 👌
Finally! 😀😀Threshold of transformation next please! Such an awesome song.
Its funny you mentioned Tool in your intro. I first heard ISIS when the opened for Tool at the Gorge in Washington.
