@Busy Bee Farms we don't actually know why he was fired. The official reason given for his leave was that he let his child wear the fire service helmet. Generally, that's code for "it's against the rules but we don't really enforce it so we're using it because you did something else thats not necessarily against the rules but skirts their intention."

A 360 degree curl is a good sign of full contact at the bottom of the head, but the shallower the taper the less movement you’ll get of the head in midwestern white oak. Prayers to you, your family, and your fittmanship.

You'd be surprised how many people do it wrong and end up with loose axe heads on their handles. I learned almost 50 years ago the proper way of doing it. Thanks for video brother. It will help alot of people who need to know. An if handle doesn't go but part way, remove the head and look where more wood needs to be removed, remember don't take off to much. It better to try and fit the head then removing to much an end up with a loose head. An when cutting the slot for wedge mark the handle before removing it so you don't cut to deep to hold wedge, I normally cut half way so I have half the wedge to trim off. No days we have epoxy and I like having handle lower in head so I can add epoxy to it so nothing can get into end such as water. Epoxy seals up everything. An don't forget if handle has clear coat to remove it it a straight edge by scraping it off to get to bare wood. If not you get many blisters on your hands unless you wear gloves. Wearing gloves all the time will cause soft hands. Making them tender like bottoms of your feet from wearing shoes all the time so walk barefoot more outside an allow yourself to connect with the Earth's natural frequency of 8.73 Hertz or something like that. Feeling the natural frequency of our planet helps keep us connected to it and we won't get sick as much. Change your shoes too, get leather soles on them because it will allow frequency flow unlike our rubber or foam soles. You will thank me for this after you try it and your health is going to improve. If you build a new home, think about having one room at the lowest level to have a open floor to the actual dirt under house so you can put a opening in middle to make a area big enough to sit, stand, lay down and feel the natural energy from the ground. That movie, Avatar, did you know that it was actually talking about our planet in the very old past. Removed from our modern history books. There has been a lot of since movement that started over 50 years ago to educate the public but most ignored it. Where do you think they got ideas for star trek an star wars from, our history. When movie close encounters come out in 76 that opened our governments eyes and ABC boys went to ask him where he got that script. Many things were changed, but close enough to get their attention in DC. That's enough history lesson for now. Thank God for everything you have, he is real and sees all. God bless us his followers. We don't have to be joined to any church to know him. Most churches only care about the mighty dollar. Does yours. If you think not, don't give money and watch someone come talk to you asking why. Does your church donate to help poor people an help feed them. Give them place to stay or help them get back up on their feet. Many don't because the money they get they keep for themselves only.

I really don't want to tell you.... if it's a burned handle,,,, it's more than likely to be wild pecan, Which is brittle and won't stand up to regular use.
Look at the end grain. If it's holely, it's pecan. If holes aren't very visible and tightly spaced it's, hickory.

    Gentleman,
It’s important you do these steps BARE FOOT. Our father did it this way and our fathers knew best. Toes are for babies and housewives, a traditional working man has no use for them.

when seating the head= do not hold too close to the end of handle... and its a good idea to tape quite a few times (temporary tape) ......I had a friend and co worker drive a big chunk/splinter (about 1/2" x 3/4" 1.5") into his hand between thumb and index finger. we were at a trail crew camp about 5 miles to trailhead then 30+ miles (dirt road) from any civilization. It was in the evening so that was a very long day for him and the foreman who hiked and drove him to get it taken care of at a urgent care. Before he hiked out we had tried booze and pulling at it with a pair of pliers but it wouldnt budge that thing was in there (knowing it was a bad idea-we all knew better...and yes this was "playing Rambo" according to some, but hey he just didnt want to go out all that way)
