this video looks like it's something easy but it's really important many times we get problems with formulas just because of the cells are not in the normal mode and that lets us be so upset about why the formula is not working so thanks again these are really the great videos that lets us be careful about anything we are working on

Hey cheers for these Mike. For anyone interested, the true and false are known as booleans in programming. The application of which is not fully known to me yet. Also, you can negate those booleans, as well as any formula from registering, by prefixing it with the apostrophe mark ‘ eg. ‘=count(). That is what comes up on the error when formulas have errors. Nobody reads errors dialogues so there you go. 😅
Hi Professor, quick question - For those working in countries with who follow the European date model of Day/Month/Year, how can I have my dates be aligned to the right? Going off of the example you used, if I wanted to enter February 14, 2022 as 14/2/2022 and have it right aligned? These videos are all extremely helpful and them being free makes it all the better! Hi, great video! I had a query - I could not understand the part where you click on the cell and it moves to the above part. Also, I cannot see this tab by default in my ribbon - I have to click on cell styles. Is there a workaround for this? Also, I am able to still add the numbers despite text and left aligned formatting, I think - what am I doing wrong?

The third home work requires us to clean up the data and then prepare a Pivot table. However when I compare my work against your answer there is a discrepancy in the sales total. It looks like numerical count is 23 while the total count is 25. It appears that I am missing something. Any suggestions? Thanks Siddharth
When I did the HW2 pivot table task, the sorting order of names could only be sorted as ascending/descending alphabetical order. How can I set them to sort like the way you shown in the answer?

First, I have to echo all the comments about how well-done these videos are, and how much I'm learning. Thank you! I have a question about Homework 2 on this one: for my PivotTable, the SalesRep names are in alphabetical order (by first name, of course). On your answer sheet, the names are in the order in which they appear in the data set. (By comparison, in Video 5/Homework 2, the order of the SalesRep names appears to be random -- no pattern that I can discern.) I know the sort order can be changed once the PivotTable is created, but does the process that creates a PiviotTable have a method for ordering the data, and a way to change that method? Thanks.

In Excel you can remove the formatting and get back to the default by going to Home Ribbon Tab, Editing group (all the way on Right) and click the Clear dropdown arrow, then click on Clear Formats.

You would have to change the default settings for date in Control Panel, Regional Settings

PivotTable Row Area items always come sorted. You can change it if you want.

Just a funny bit of trivia, 14/2/2017 is the proper setting for date "feb 14 2017" in europe, Australia, Brazil, and several others. (dd/mm/yyyy)
