For the first 20 seconds or so I thought wow! patronising!! but after that I realised I was so wrong! His delivery is actually amazing. He stresses all the important points in such a way that it is so easy to follow and remember. His repetition then hammers the point home and his final summary just ties it all together. On any teaching or presentation course you are taught the following adage; " Tell them what you are going to tell them, Tell them, Tell them what you just told them" That is exactly what he does. He also teaches us the easy way to do things in real life not like a handbook or instruction manual but as a real person would do it.
Excel has been a bit of a mystery for years to me but after watching a few of these videos I am beginning realise what an amazing tool it can be.
Thank you Michael, I will recommend your videos not only to people wanting to learn Excel but to people who want to learn how to teach.

By The Way, This adage is only partially true: "Tell them what you are going to tell them, Tell them, Tell them what you just told them". Two things: 1) the adage should be: "Show them what you are going to Show them (with a splash of inspiration), Show & Inspire them, Show them again and repeat, repeat, repeat in an inspirational way. 2) What you see in the video is really just a story, which is art, and good or great art can only be made with the creation adage: "The goal is to have as few extraneous elements in the work as possible. This means in the creation process you are not afraid to remove any element if it does not help articulate the message, including if you are at the end and realize that you have to start completely over, including if you have to start over many times."

Thank you for watching this basic video! As with you enjoying this Basic video, I very much enjoy making basic videos and very much enjoy continuing to try and make better and better basic videos that will allow less struggle for beginners to get up to speed in Excel more quickly! It still bothers me that people click Thumbs Down because it means that they do not understand the balance between rights and obligations. If they have gained anything from any of the videos that I have posted and they are getting the free knowledge they can't possible have the right to click Thumbs Down on a video that does not cause harm. Even if the video does not meet their personal goal in clicking on this video, if they have not been harmed by the video, they do not have the right to click Thumbs Down. Unless people are actively trying to make the world a better place by teaching people for free AND there is some mistake in the video that cause harm, they do not have the right to click Thumbs Down. That said, I do understand that life is like a boomerang and when they click Thumbs Down without the right to do so, in the long run they will have that negative action come back to them.

As I am a self taught Excel user I decided to start at the beginning of your videos in case I missed anything and I have learned new things. I use Excel for work everyday with complex and long formulas but I really enjoy your shortcuts and explanations of the basics. Looking forward to going through all your Excel videos. As you talk clearly I was able to watch at 2 speed so I got through this in no time.

There is NO doubt, that this Basics series is great for the reason you stated - it covers everything in the correct order with no holes - and everyone seems to find something in the vid. Thanks for your support with Thumbs Up and small comment on each vid.
