I couldn't help it, but I had to laugh when you used your turn signal on a lonely dirt road in the middle of the desert, with no one else around! Old habits are hard to break! LOL!!
I’ve got 2001 dodge ram 3500 thinking of buying the light bar you just installed now I know I’ll buy one thank you for the video of installing it very nice very detailed thank you
I have been happy with Nilight products. Put them on my truck and my Jeep. Most useful place has been in the rear bumper for backup. Stock backup lights are next to useless, and adding a 4" Nilight is great.
Hi Ray, great to see you on the road. We recognized those BC plates this morning and that shiny new light bar. We are just a couple doors down the hill from you. Would love to meet you and your wife before either of us hit the road. We recently sold our boat on the island and are new to the dusty back roads..Happy New Year
Very Nicely done! I’m doing the same soon for the truck & rear bumper on the trailer. Not necessarily to back up but to see out the back at night if needed. I wondered if it made a real difference up front as my LED lamps are really bright but don’t reach out very much. Looks like these will though. TNX for the review.
I added one on my little Chevy Colorado for early morning driving. Considering one on my Ram Tow vehicle also, thanks. The hard part was drilling holes in the chromed bumper.
Good video. I got one for Christmas for my 1500 ram and I'm gonna put it on this weekend. Hoping to fit it down btw the tow hooks bc its only the 20in bar. I don't think I have the tranny cooler down there as there's a plastic solid cover in the spot now.
Ray, I have a 2013 Ram dually that I installed a curved Nilight light bar on. Installed it in the lower opening in front of the intercooler. No heating problems pulling 16,000# 5th wheel. I had read about some water leakage so before I installed it I took the plastic lens off and put a thin coating of silicone on the contact surface and in all the screw holes. No leaks even after pressure washing. I hooked up the trigger wire to the high beams so the light will come on only when the high beams are on. That way if a car approaches all I do is switch to low beams and the light bar is off. Car passes and the light bar comes on when I go to the high beams. Also, I would aim your light bar a little higher. Great video.
Cool, thanks for the tip! Do you have a cover for it. I've ordered a cheap canvas one for the time being. In BC and some US states it looks like I could get a ticket if on highway without a cover. As they class the light bars as off road lamps. Cheers, Ray
That looks great Ray - Whatta big difference! I hope it stays water resistant - I've had issues with water intrusion with 3rd party products in the past. Please give us an update down the road. - Cheers!
I'd think that highway patrol or the Mounties would have better things to do, but some folks have warned me I could get a ticket in some provinces or states.
The law can vary from state to province, but my understanding in Alberta, at least, is that those auxiliary lights have to be covered up if you are on public streets or highways. But I sure could be wrong too.
Could be but not sure in BC but probably a good idea to use a cover since I go through so many US states while traveling since each have there own laws.
I'm curious how yours will hold up to the weather. That looks like the one that came with a vehicle I purchased and I noticed some moisture behind it once I got it installed back on the truck. I have no idea how old mine is and this truck has had a hard life to say the least so it easily could of cracked somewhere from the previous owner bushwhacking/ jumping this thing and completely be user error. I never got to test mine out much yet being on PEI but it seems to light up fine so far. Hopefully a little time and some silicon will keep the moisture out when I get a chance to work on that. haha
LED Power: 180W (60PCS x 3W high intensity LEDs) Operating Voltage: 9-30V DC. Beam Type: Flood and Spot Combo Beam. LED Color Temperature: Pure White 6000K -6500K. Raw Lumens:11,675lm. Work Temperature: -40~ 85 degrees. Material: 6063 Die-cast Aluminum Housing, Stainless Steel Bracket, PC Lens.
There is a fuse included in the wiring that will blow if there is a short circuit beyond its location in the wiring. Still, as an extra safety measure, you could use a battery terminal fuse like I have or wire the light bar into a spare location in the vehicle fuse box. The battery will be drained if you leave the light on with the vehicle off, but you could wire it in such a way as to have it only on if the vehicle's bright lights are on or the ignition is on. Up to you. I don't see myself forgetting to turn it off, so I didn't bother.
Ray, I had to laugh when I saw that you, like me have had some squirrel activity around you battery covers. We live in the woods of Nova Scotia and the bloody things have ruined two sets of covers, the last set was less than 3 days old. Iv'e tried everything suggested but they still want to make a nest on top of the batteries. I try to leave the hood up but miss for a day and they are in. Is yours squirrel damage?
Maybe send them an email. Maybe it was an Amazon warehouse repack; the previous person didn't return the harness. If it is an Amazon purchase, that happens sometimes. I've had it happen with RV parts in the past.

haha, ya its pretty automatic
😂
On Ray's return, Anne was in the RV screaming, "Aaaaaargh!!! I'm BLIND!" 😂

Nice and bright safe at night!
Thinking about putting one of them on my jeep thanks for the demo
Looks great!

Sure, you bet. You're welcome to drop by. :) Maybe tomorrow afternoon or the next day. Happy New Year! Cheers, Ray
Good job

Remember to use sharp bits with oil, didnt have any issues on my 1990 f250 chrome bumper drilling two holes

@@LoveYourRV, No cover. I live in the Midwest and have driven over 150,000 miles with it, including blizzards and have no problems.

Will do. I have a cloth protective cover on order for it so that will likely help.
Cool!

Yes it worth $100 👍✌️🇨🇦
Hey your truck looks like a low flying UFO. Let's see if reports of them increase in areas you've been. 😂
Nicely done Ray. Going to get one for my 2018 Ram 2500. How difficult was running the wire through that rubber grommet?
No too bad, was able to lift and push one side of the rubber grommet with my fingers enough to get it through.
You need a ranch hand cow catcher to protect your truck on the front
Travelling at the right speed heading west, you could fool people into thinking its sunrise.
Nice I love it how long did installation take?
Not long, part of an afternoon.

@@LoveYourRV For sure!

is it safe to directly connect the positive (red) on the battery terminal? should I be concerned with drainage and fire?

Yes, they got in there at Memaloose State Park in Oregon. The place was crawling with squirrels
Welp I got one but didn’t get the harnesses
