It's BACK! Can you believe it?! This 200(5) Jeep Liberty Turbo Diesel refuses to give in on it's turbo under boost condition. If you watched part 1, you know we solved a major oil leak from the EGR elbow and deleted the EGR valve. With that said, the issue continued and here we are, back in the shop continuing the effort to keep this CRD on the road and in good running form. LET'S GET STARTED!
Thanks for hanging out in the shop today!
    What are we doing today?
We are going to replace the turbo intercooler on this Jeep Liberty CRD.
What are we using to complete the work?
    Common hand tools!
Do you have any concerns about today's work?
No concerns today! We simply want to get this resolved and move onto the next job.
Why did you decide to do this?
Because deleting the EGR valve and resolving a major oil leak from the EGR elbow didn't resolve the P0299 Turbo Underboost Condition.
How are you going to fix this issue?
Inspect the vehicle's EGR, exhaust, fuel, and computer system for issues.
What's your favorite thing about working on diesel Jeeps?
We like to keep these older CRD's on the road. They run 30+ on highway MPG, have part & full time 4WD, and are modern enough to still be a daily driver.
What would you improve, if anything?
My ability to resolve this P0299 condition more efficiently. ;)
    Any additional thoughts?
We complete this work in a small 2 stall garage with limited space. You can do anything you would like to do, no matter the space you have, just plan accordingly and adjust your plans to the size of your workspace. We Believe In YOU!
What's coming to the shop in the future?
John Deere 1023e with a throttling issue.
Are you able to do lots of work in a limited space?
Yes, without question. The biggest issues I face in our 2 stall garage is organization. Keeping the workspace organized and both stalls clear of clutter really helps with motivation, which then helps with productivity. Basically, if I see a clean workspace, I'm much more ready to dive into a project or even just scheduled maintenance like today's oil change.

Just had the same under boost problem with mine. It acted like it was in limp mode. No power, smoking, barely would get up to 3000 rpm. Codes were MAP sensor and turbo under boost. MAP sensor was dirty. Cleaned still had problem so replaced it. Still had problem. Replaced intercooler hoses and the drivers side one was split. Put new one on and fixed problem. I did the cheap route and got a cheap after market and it was about an inch and half to long on both ends. Trimmed it and it works but does not fit right. I have ordered the correct one. Mopar wants $160 bucks for that! Part number is 55037730AD. Found one on ebay from Italy for 64.95 plus 5.90 shipping! Runs great again! Love these CRD's. 282,000 miles and still going.

Awesome Mark! Great to know. I replaced 1 cracked and leaking turbo hose and validated the other to make sure there were no leaks. I also just replaced the fuel filter, reconnected the harness for the EGR valve and checked the CAT to make sure it wasn't plugged. Both codes are still there. I'll check the MAP sensor next and then the turbo/solenoid. Thanks for your great response. -2SG

@@2StallGarage yep replaced both the map sensor and turbo solenoid vacuum too. Also of note I replaced the filter head as the original kept leaking down. /the new one came with an upgraded fuel heater as the old style was bad about shorting out. Mine was shorted, only needed during the winter. The new one still looses some prime after several weeks to a month. it will run rough, idle rough can't get over 1500 rpm. Pull over, kill it and pump the primer about 20 times and it will run fine.
      FYI

What scan tool are you using with your phone? I have OBD Fusion but it doesn't read the Liberty CRD like yours.

I'm using the BlueDriver. It scans pretty fast which leads me to believe, it's fairly limited with the CRD, but it did find the underboost code.

Hi my 05 liberty crd the trip and odometer not working I installed a lift pump in the tank came with the new wire harness also replaced the sensor on the rear end drove it around the trip and odometer still wouldn't work then the other day while driving it I pulled over took a small break then started driving the and light went off and the trip and odometer started working then after driving it about 4 miles the and light came back on and then trip and odometer stop working my question would be does the front sensor have anything to do with the trip and odometersignal

      Yes, these 3 work together.

Speed is sole the sensor on the rear diff. Trip, odometer, and fuel economy require all 3.
