The ramp was impressive but the delivery just wasn't. I really think that ramp was to big, if you took that run up with a quarter about half the size, now that would be some crazy scary impressive stuff. It's like the last 3 or so bike length's of the ramp just took away so much of their momentum for them to get air that looks half way as impressive as the ramp. It's like 50 feet of ramp for probably 10- 12 feet of air, at best. Definitely a total failure. Good concept but poor execution. If you took this concept and put it towards slope style mountain biking, fmx, or snowboarding. This would most likely be a different story. Have to say, it would be totally kick ass to put some snowboarders on that set up. That's a video I would like to see.
Have someone try to do a brachistochrone curve? With this you'll have the max speed possible in the descent. Is very difficult to build? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachistochrone_curve
I may be wrong but i think you would loose momentum going up the other side of it. I think they can go faster with a flat bottom as apposed to a full arch
It's very interesting your point. I don't know if the brachistochrone curve is the curve that you reach the max speed when you finish it. Perhaps the fastest way to descent doesn't give you the max speed at the end because you go up. Thanks for the answer. I will think about it.
Hoffman got towed into the wood quarter pipe by a motorcycle. Don't get me wrong MH is one of my all time favorite riders and I have been a fan of his since he turned pro at the age of 16 and stomped the other pro's at the King of Vert comps that Ron Wilkerson used to put on. This is just a different medium and I think it should be given prop's and respect as such. Maybe once he gets it dialed in he can compare in air? Awesome build , riding and film.
There's only so much big you can go on a bmx, definitely out of its territory here, guy should get a mtb dh style to fulfill his dreams, otherwise stick to crazy stuns on smaller yards. Good he tried though!

anticlimactic, having said that, the run from the roll in to the quarter was too long. seems like they lost a lot of speed before hitting the vert.
