    bro so many glide videos technically show you how to glide but always feel weak and like super stock, but this video finally gives me what i've been looking for, and its been like multiple years trying different techniques and never being satisfied, thanks!

      Glad you found this helpful! I do have another method that isn't as in depth but works well for quick slides if you don't want as precise controls. It kinda works almost like the method in fl but slightly different. Could make a video on "the quickest method for ableton 808 slides" if that would help to. I'll often use the 2 in combination as the other way is quicker but the way on this video is more in depth

      @@skmakesbeats i have previously tested the method you showed in this video (but like i said, the other videos i heard about the note expression method from were much worse than this). The problem was that since i suck at Ableton i was unable to judge which method is actually better. You know the good old Dunning-Kruger effect, when you know too little to be able to know what you dont know.
      Actually the thumbnail alone convinced me to click since there was a clear "this dude actually has an oppinion on which is better" feel with the X's over the glide time and extra notes. As a somewhat beginner this is something that bothers me about music in general. Since music is art, everybody is bought into the "nothing is correct/its preference/one is not better than the other" mantra. And i get it, but then its very hard for someone like me to know what i should spend my time on since everybody is afraid of taking a position. Yeah sure, i bet somebody could maybe disagree and make a good argument for the other method, but i appreciate that you have an oppinion and make reasonable arguments for it.
      Just some rambling thoughts. Im gonna let the good be shared and show this to my friend who has been struggling with the same problem.

    • @skmakesbeats
      @skmakesbeats  Год назад

      Thanks I appreciate the share. This video was only my 2nd ever video I recorded (I have only been doing youtube for 4 months now). So the fact people find it useful really means a lot to me. I think the reason why there is so many pitch bend and glide method videos around is because the note expression tab was new for ableton 11 (which only released in 2021) so previously to that there was only the other ways. It does take a long time to do the glides in comparison to the way people do them inside FL studio, but the level of control on the note automation is amazing. I find this method works really well with a little practice......its also great for recording like long leads like westcoast synth leads.....or long strings and using it to pitch bend them melodically (think like old westcoast beats or like scott storch used to do with middle eastern style strings)

    • @skmakesbeats
      @skmakesbeats  11 месяцев назад +1

      What I like to do personally is have an ableton utility on every track by default with -6 gain I find this gives me enough headroom to get the kick to bang with a combination of transient shaping shaping and soft clipping and/or limiting.... if I were then to want the volume higher for a release I then use a combination of saturation, compression and limiting on the master until it hits the luf amount I'm aiming for with the dynamics I want

    • @Username-tw2li

      @@Username-tw2li I don't remove any gain on my master channel, just on the individual channels to get headroom to level everything correctly without causing distortion.
