    I like the way you play with the dry/wet knob.

      Im not sure why I always phrase it like that rather then saying the mix knob or just bring the mix down

    Very detailed and filled with gems. That copy and reverse tip for the 1st piano is so sick! Beat came out nuts aswell 🔥🔥 Also FL studio has a similar feature to the capture MIDI i think its called dump to piano roll

      It's all good....I try to take all the comments good and bad and just use it to see how I can improve each video. This was actually three next video I recorded after that one I believe (if it was the 808 drill glide video)..... I'm just trying to improve a little on each and every video. Made music for a long time but video is still really new for me.
      Thanks for the sub

      @@skmakesbeats I challenged myself using six notes instead of four. I've never made beats this way and I don't have all the plugins you have. Once it's done I'd like for you to hear it. Where could I send it to you at?

    • @skmakesbeats

      @@MrLynneBrown I can be contacted on Instagram .... Sometimes putting myself into a box like "only 4 notes" or "only stock vsts" or similar really forces me to get creative and be more intentional with what I'm putting in

    Hey man. Do you find FL Studio drums hit cleaner than Ableton’s?

    • @skmakesbeats
      @skmakesbeats  Год назад

      I think it's a different approach from both daw's. My understanding is (I got this from watching decap who uses both).....is that by default FL soft clips anything that is peaking.....where as ableton doesn't so straight out of the box drums in FL seems to be able to just hit harder, the clipping adds pleasing harmonics and saturation. To get the same kinda feel in ableton you need to add a soft clipper onto the drums which will then soft clip....this can also be done in ableton with the saturator or the glue compress by activating the soft clip function and turning the gain up without using the actual compression in the glue comp.
      I think there's good and bad things to both approaches, for ableton it makes people think there drums just dont hit as clean or as hard as they do in FL and it takes the extra step to get that effect....from an FL point of view it means that theres automatically an effect on the drums and your not getting an accurate representation........but I guess that doesnt matter as long as you know how to get drums to bang in either daw...always trust your ears.
      Sorry for the long winded answer
      Here is the decap video Im referencing, it is talking about 808's but this would also apply to drums as often times kicks and snares fall into that clipping catagory

    SIR IN BOOM BAP NOT USING 808 ?

    • @skmakesbeats
      @skmakesbeats  Год назад

      Not usually. I tend to use either an electric guitar or an upright bass for more boom bap type stuff...... But experiment, see if an 808 works for the sound your trying to make

    if there would be 1 killer Software as a Service (SaaS) that you‘d gladly pay for, what would that be? 🤔 💭 tell me!

    • @skmakesbeats
      @skmakesbeats  11 месяцев назад

      This is a complicated question. I mean if were just talking in general I guess something like google drive or dropbox. But if we are talking audio stuff, then I think the best value if you do a lot of mixing is the plugin alliance subscriptions, as they let you keep 10 of the plugins after your subscription ends on the higher tier and those plugins cost a fair chunk so it makes it worth subscribing for a year. In all honesty though Im trying to move away from using subscriptions and the only ones I currently use is the new tracklib sub as that contains the clearence fee for the tracks you sample so it makes it worth it, arcade by output as its very unique, and the eastwest subscription as I think you get an awful lot for the money. I have recently moved away from the slate digital and splice subscription models

    Sounds like trap beat

    • @skmakesbeats
      @skmakesbeats  11 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure what trap you've been listening to..... But trap sounds completely different. In fact one of the defining characteristics of trap as a sub genre is the use of 808s for the bass

    dope but it feels too modern for boom bap in my opinion

    • @skmakesbeats
      @skmakesbeats  Год назад

      I can appreciate that. Obviously when a lot of people think boom bap they either think the 90s sound of artists like mobb deep and wu tang or the soulful boom bap based on sampling 70s records etc. My style is usually more underground boom bap such as army of the pharoahs, Jedi mind tricks etc...... Obviously it's hard to make more soulful stuff with only 4 notes, but I will have videos covering soulful boom bap etc in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting 😀
