There's so many things in the Sonic universe that had a lot of potential but were left forgotten, really wish they would bring Dark Sonic, Hyper Sonic and Mephiles back at some point
Just thought I'd comment this here. Many people mistakingly assume that this form was only powered by Sonic's anger. But need I remind you, that in the previous scene, he stumbled across tons of fake Emeralds (neat callback to SA2) that the Metarex made, and commented that suddenly he didn't feel so good. Those evil emeralds powered this transformation. On that note I don't think Sonic would ever act that angrily out of his own will normally, as Sonic is a pretty benevolent guy, again it was the dark influence of the Metarex's Emeralds

Maybe something really similar, maybe he's black, maybe he's still gold like Mecha Sonic or Fleetway, maybe it transforms his body like Chaos or Gemerl, or does something like Emperator Ix from Chronicles But we'll never find out cause he'd never use the negative energy willingly lol In the canon games the only times he used negative energy was when the World Rings of Hatred Rage and Sadness turned him into Darkspine or some of Dark Gaia went into him and turned him into the Werehog, but both of those were forced into him unwillingly

Mice showcase, Velcomia. Those are some interesting looks of the Dark Sonic Mods for each of those games. Really good at what they did on the Dark Sonic Mod for each game. Now we can see Sonic's other side when you piss him off or anger him by harming those around him!
i can actually see dark sonic being possible in the series there are 2 sides to chaos energy, positive and negative from perfect chaos using all the negative, we know super is positive this would be awesome!
I love how when I was playing the Spyro games and Spyro got his dark form that I instantly thought of dark Sonic. With dark spyro I was able to see faint pupils in rare instances, but if I remember correctly it was normally like dark Sonic's pupiless white eyes a majority of the time. 💫
Sega should make this form cannon it only appeared in one sonic cartoon and lasted for at least 15 seconds or less and it is still to this day a fan favorite

That's not how it works. Emeralds transform thoughts in power, positive ones mean positive power and the same applies to negative thoughts. And... Well, Sonic being Sonic is far from negative thoughts when using the emeralds. And even if somehow he gets to transform he would be even weaker than the werehog, because we've seen that negative energy is nothing compared to the positive one.

Now take that to the games and... Nothing changed really, he would still be weak AF and hell, even the werehog proves to have a lot more physical strength, enough to beat up enemies far bigger than himself.

Image if Dark Sonic was a Canon form, it would probably be pretty crazy. In the games and comics there were many times Sonic was angry beyond relief and those could have been the perfect opportunity to introduce Dark Sonic.

He sounds like a very powerful form that probably may not be controllable at first.
