He's still underrated. He played 150+ games for two year in a row while most other starting pitchers didn't break 30. He pitched like that with no rest. MLB was too busy crawling up Judge's backside to give this man the respect he deserves. Legend.
I wouldn't call a player who won MVP last year and ended 2nd on MVP voting this season "underrated'... I also think Ohtani performance for this season was more historic than last season, yet I still have no problem with Judge getting the MVP
No problem with Judge getting the MVP over Ohtani? 🤣Go make videos of Judge then, and see if you get a fraction of the views you've already garnered using Ohtani's name
@@DetroitCourage It wouldn't bother me too if Ohtani won the MVP. Nevertheless, MVP is not decided entirely on performance and popularity. It is already well known fact that the voters, the MLB journalists, consider other factors like consistency and whether the player led his team into post-season. If Angels made it to post-season, Ohtani would have better odds. In terms of consistency, Ohtani struggled offensively at the end of the season and he couldn't hit a homerun for 20~30 games until season ended, if I remember correctly. I think this was the fatal blow for Ohtani's loss to Judge, who made crazy Sept-Oct performance. Performance from second half of the season really matters for MVP voting, just like how Harper won NL MVP last year. That being said, Ohtani's offensive performance wasn't great enough to beat Judge during the season's second half. Now people would probably start asking "What about the pitching? ", which is a great question, but this can be easily explained by the fact that there are so few pitcher MVPs. No matter we like it or not, the voters always consider offensive performance as the priority. Unfortunately for Ohtani, his offensive numbers was not as impactful as Judge (don't misunderstand, Ohtani's offensive performance was still far higher than great), who was literally putting up outlier numbers on every offensive category, especially in a season when pitchers performed better than batters. To summarize, Ohtani's pitching performace was absolutely stellar but the voters didn't think it was enough to compensate for the gap between .875 OPS and 1.111 OPS with 62 homers.
Just invented that nasty sinker halfway through the season last year. Wonder if he's been cooking up other pitches in the lab this off-season too. I can't wait to see him next year
Oh you know he is. Baseball is really the only thing he cares about, based on his unreal jump last year you know he’s gonna come out with some new sequences to put hitters away.
Darvish is definitely in my list, there is just so many good pitchers to cover from 2022 season... plz be subscribed to see Darvish's pitching arsenal in near future!
Ohtani began throwing the sinker in games in August of 2022. He said, "I have thrown the sinker for fun before. It's not a ball I necessarily need, but I think I need it to have fun throwing it."

The mlb was busy giving more juiced balls to the yankees to help judge hit that home run record.
The real MVP.
The best baseball player of all time.
can't wait for him to win a cy young someday soon 😍

This is the true son of Baseball God who made us believe in the sport again.
He is the complete package
Sho now has a pitch that breaks away from a lefty and into a righty something he was missing.
That's the sinker. He just introduced it at the end of this season so I guess we might see him throw more sinkers next season...
he adds a sinker just like that, imagine next year he adds a devin change or knuckle ball lol
Crazy how much his 4-seam usage dropped in 2022.
And on average it got faster...
Not to take credit away from Judge's incredible season, but if he was American, maybe he'dve won MVP...
We will probably see that sinker more often next year... average 97mph... f me!
Loved the video but I want to see darvish's arsenal.

STUD!
You gotta do Yu Darvish that video will be thirty minutes long
I wouldn't make it thirty minutes, but it will definitely be significantly longer than most pitchers.
I thought Ohtani said I don’t have sink

His new sinker looks disgusting 😂
