    Best bike in the world. Mine 89 is run 207k km now without engine fix. My 88 model is only gone 125k km.

    Thank you for your thorough description of this excellent bike. I had 4 of these over the years and loved them to pieces. When the first red "refrigerator" model came out in 1987 it was a revelation and was "Top Dog" in all the competitive road tests. It was my first Japanese bike, having hung on to British 650s in a sort of loyal stupidity. On taking delivery, the owners daughter of the dealership commented " you are now driving Concorde instead of a pre war bi-plane. Dont wring the throttle like British bikes as it will spit you off ". How true she was. Sheer unadulterated power.

      Dangit.. I have an 88 in the garage that hasn't run since '03. Was going to give it to a friend until reading the "sheer unadulterated power" in your comment. Now I have to make it go fetch me horizon again. Wish me luck.

    I had the loan of one of these CBR's in the early 90's for a week ,and it sticks in my memory as probably the best motorcycle I've had the pleasure of riding. I have an 09' Sprint ST 1050 now, but that CBR was something.

    Thank you for uploading this. I have a 1990 in R/W/B, and it's a bike I've wanted for a long time. She was £1900 from a dealer last summer with 26K on the clock, and in superb original condition. I can ride her all day in comfort, and love the power and ease of riding. Yes she's heavy when you're moving out of the garage, but once on the move this is a wonderful motorcycle.

I had a Blackbird 10 years ago which was quite a nice bike, but I have always preferred the looks of the big CBR1000.. Looking forward to delivery.

Just good honest engineering and I think the paint jobs were brilliant back then. My friend had one of these, at the same time that I had a ZZR1100. The D suffix ZZR's build is, like the CBR, excellent -
    50,000 mls + and it still looked like new. It was also considerably quicker than the CBR F, but the
    CBR did/does have a much, much better headlight.

    • @kwakkers68
      @kwakkers68 Год назад +1

      On one particular return from one of our rides, I had to keep quite close to my friend, following his
      CBR F, as the OEM headlight on the 11 is really poor - I would say to the extent of being potentially
      dangerous. Soon after this, I fitted a HiD conversion, which was a huge improvement.
      Strange that even today, manufactured fit headlights which are often quite poor - even more
      ridiculous on high power machines!

  • @mooncatt79

    Most I've seen from the 1000f is claimed 155mph and that's when it was new. I dunno where your getting 160 from, but let's not get bogged down over 5mph. The engine was bullet proof as per Honda. But in fact imo it was a heavy under powered beast. For 1000cc it was pretty poor. You'd be better off with a vfr750 for touring and comfort with the added sportiness. For people over 60 then I'm sure the cbr1000f was great. But for those wanting a bit more the cbr1000f was a bit of a slow coach

    • @bobupen6476

      I'm under 60, and find my 1990 a terrific bike. Not under powered in any way, great handling and all day comfort. A 'bit of a slow coach' ? Ridiculous comment.

    • @CBR1000FJ
      @CBR1000FJ Год назад

      I bought the SC21 when I was 25 and I sold it last year (28 years later). It was the first model. Non restricted power (in some countries it was restricted to 100HP).So it went well above the 155 mph that you mention. For me (my posture) and those years (low traffic density years, minimum speed control) it was the best bike ever. I rode an R6 and a Hayabusa of friends but they didn´t feel that comfy and stable at high speeds on degraded roads.

    • @Motoreger
