I’m an 80’s bike fan. I’ve 2 katanas and just bought a 1988 CBR1000F, immaculate with 23000 miles. So glad I came across your test ride.
    Thanks 👍

I had one of these in Black and Red back in 1989. I went from a 125cc inexperienced rider straight to my CBR1000 and let me tell you folks it really was scare the shit out of you Powerful and Fast, faster than a Porche and heavy. Fortunately for me I only ever dropped it on its side once.
I bought it second hand from a motorbike showroom and my very first ride was at night up the M1 motorway. I rode from North London a few miles and then back again.
I loved that bike but had to sell it to buy a car after the birth of my son in 1990. My heavily pregnant now ex wife even used to ride pillion with me, falling asleep on my back once or twice as we drove down the M1 from Northampton to Coney Hall, in West Wickham, Kent.

I have a ‘91 CBR1000F in the so called ‘Benetton’ colours…pink! 😄 It’s all original, 23k miles & whisper quiet..but a lovely thing to ride. It sits nicely alongside my other bikes. Love 90s bikes. 🤓🤙🏽

Superb machines which have stood the test of time. The mid-late 90s versions are the best. Great value bikes with 130hp. Had one for 5 years and still regret selling it.

One question that has been bugging me for a bit. Can you still use the rear brake for stability when doing low speed manouvres (like is tought during driving lessons) with the DCBS? Or is the effect on the front brake too noticable?
I have a 96 waiting for me ready to go. Got it as a gift from my father since he doesn't ride anymore. However i'm still working on my A license so i have no experience riding it beyond going up and down the street once at a blistering speed of less than 50km/h.

@@ric84 Mine didn't have dual brakes so can't help with that. Be careful on this bike, it's deceptively fast. Great machine though.

Owned a blue and white E plater back in 89/90 and it was a lovely bike - great for covering distance but equally fun on the curves, solo or two up. If I had any criticism of it at all it would have been the Honda gearbox which were never their greatest during that period - never failed or anything but was pretty notchy compared to Suzuki and Kawasaki offerings of the same era even though Honda probably had the best build quality and finish of the big four.
Sold mine after many thousands of happy and trouble free miles and replaced it with a BMW K100RS but I'd happily own and run one today if a good one turns up - probably the model after this though which looked even nicer, before they brought out the linked brake version.

Had a 93 CBR1000F and was just a nice comfortable muscle bike, very smooth and stable. You could one hand tour at 100mph if you wanted.
