      I used the yellow wire and connected it to the blue wire on the harness for the headlights. So when you unlock it the switchback pattern turns on. It will take. Like 15-30 seconds to turn off after you lock your truck.

    My drivers side low beam will randomly turn off….sometimes it comes back on after about 3 seconds, sometimes it just stays off. Ive tried 4 different sets of led bulbs and 2 different halogen bulbs. It does the same thing reguardless. Ive narrowed it down to a wire/harness issue in the headlight housing itself. Im about to just throw then alpharex’s out and get some cheap $90 ebay units

    Nice vid man. If I were to install these headlights alongside a grill with marker lights, would I have to tap the into the red wire that runs to the fuse box? I want to have the marker lights run with the daytime running lights. Any info would help, I’m not exactly an expert on wiring hahaha. Also, is there any way to bypass soldering?

    • @MKSPerformanceOffroad
      @MKSPerformanceOffroad  3 года назад +2

      You should be able to tap into the red fused wire that goes to the fuse tap as long as it goes to a fuse that gets ignition power. If you want to avoid soldering than you can certainly use heat shrink crimp connectors or even heat shrink solder butt connectors that you insert wires and heat up then it melts the solder automatically fusing the wires in place. In my opinion they are alot better than stock quads. I went with some Hikari led H7 bulbs I will have them listed in the video releasing tomorrow evening for programming these. I did not get the hikari ultra bulbs as they were out of stock on amazon but for the cost of some ultra led bulbs from headlight revolution I spent half the cost on 2 pairs (high and low beam). Of coarse you can run halogen H7 bulbs in the housings and I felt like the light output was still better than factory. I enjoy the switchbacks and love the look as well. Hope this helps and happy modding.

    • @MKSPerformanceOffroad

      Without the drl harness connected you will only have the led switchbacks light up when the headlights are turned on or you activate a turn signal. What I’ve seen out of the ones we installed as far as turn signal brightness, they are visible but not so bright that they reflect off of objects in front of the truck. Hope this helps.

    My son and I put a set of these on his 2014 Ram last week. We replaced the halogen bulbs with LEDs. We tried different bulbs, tried clocking them, etc. They absolutely suck with LEDs. Horrible, horrible beam pattern no matter the brand of bulb or how we clocked them. Trying some HIDs next. If those don't work, the housings are getting pulled and returned or sold. Shame, they look nice and the cool flash sequence when the lights are turned on and blinker is nice, but useless if they can't run bright lights. The basic H7 halogens are horrible.

    • @MKSPerformanceOffroad
      @MKSPerformanceOffroad  2 года назад

      The HID should do better as they mimic a halogen light source better than led and the housings are designed for a halogen light source. If a perfect led beam is what you are looking for then the best way to obtain that would be to buy the led version that alpharex makes. I didnt try these with the hid bulbs as I didnt want to stuff ballasts in and all that stuff but they are decent and better than the halogens that were in them.

    • @edwardlance2379
      @edwardlance2379 2 года назад

      @@MKSPerformanceOffroad Yeah, the only problem with the LED versions from Alpharex is the price, stupidly expensive. We'll try the HIDs and see. If those don't work well either, then we're going to return or sell the housings and he'll just have to fork over the money for a properly made set if he wants it done right. I can certainly see why these LED bulbs in halogen housings are illegal for road use, they just don't work.
      My 2018 Silverado LTZ has factory LEDs and they work great, so I thought maybe the bulb they use would be good...but, I found out, factory LEDs don't use a removable bulb! If one burns out or quits, you literally have to replace the entire housing as the bulbs are built in..at $1,000 each!

    • @edwardlance2379
      @edwardlance2379 2 года назад +1

      @@MKSPerformanceOffroad So we put 55w HIDs in the low beams today. They definitely do better, at least better than halogens and LEDs but still not what I'd call great. Now the question is the high beams. The halogens ain't going to cut it. We put LED's in and it's a joke, like the low beams. So, we're done screwing with this crap. The LED's we currently have are returnable, so they're going back and he's going to sell the housings and HIDs (someone will buy them), but at a loss, of course. He's just going to do what I told him to do from the get go...go pay the money and get the LUXX models. Plug'em in and be done with it.

      Yes, these will fit as stated in description. Read description entirely so you get the ones that work with your setup i.e. stock projector or quad headlights factory. amzn.to/3ubKrI5

    How do you aim these the Phillips and hex nut is pointing to the rear

    • @MKSPerformanceOffroad
      @MKSPerformanceOffroad  2 года назад +1

      There is an access point at the top through the fender that you will use with a longer screwdriver to adjust them.

      @@MKSPerformanceOffroad does yours have the screw pointing up? Mine points back. This is the pro series G2 for Ram 2500. Looking from the top you would only see the teeth of the edge of a disk and the side of a hex nut. There is a notch where the screw should be but it doesnt go up up back.

      @@MKSPerformanceOffroad no it doesnt have the phillips that points up. I have seen anothrr review of the Pro G2 and it only has the back half. I can adjust it from the rear but it going to be take it in and out and hope it doesn't change when I do that.

    Whats the diff between pro series and pro series g2?

    • @joe7528
      @joe7528 2 года назад

      G1 had a design flaw on the projector shield when the sun shined on the projector lens it would cause melting or bubbling on the housing G2 fixed that issue

    The fit is crap, every truck I’ve seen these on have a 1 inch gap from the fender. Come on how has no body noticed that? Even on this video the gap is atrocious. I can stick my whole finger in there. For almost 600 bucks there’s a huge gap. They fit 1500’s way better. I think the Morimoto is better fitting but they want 1800 bucks for those

    • @MKSPerformanceOffroad
      @MKSPerformanceOffroad  2 года назад

      The gap is not even near 1”, the most gap I have is from the filler panel underneath the headlight to the bottom of headlight but it is still not bad. I like the look of these and yes you can get headlights that are much more expensive like factory or morimoto that may have a slightly better fit but will and do function exactly the same. I wouldnt discount Alpharex or any other light manufacturer simply because the gap between light and body panel is slightly more or about the same as factory.
