- Thousands of people headed for the Six Nations reserve near Brantford today for its annual Grand River Pow Wow.
They were taking part in a celebration of First Nations culture and were happy to be returning to an event that had to be cancelled during the Covid pandemic.
Al Sweeney has the details.
I was there, it was awesome. Beautiful people, colourful and friendly. I saw the grass dance competition and the hoop dance. If you ever have a chance to go to a Pow Wow, don't hesitate.
That sounds pretty awesome, I want to bring my kids to some of these.
@@jct4418 ... You should bring them. You guys are gonna have so much fun.
Me too.
I am a Filipino and I could say that I have high respect and appreciation for these people because they held on and persevered with their unique culture and system. The Philippines is also a home of many ethnic groups and each indigenous group of people observe different traditions and cultures. I can see that their regalia or costumes are similar to the Bago-Igorot Tribe in the Philippines and they almost sing the same song. These people always live in harmony with nature, spirituality, and strong family ties like Filipinos.
Any Pow Wow is a good Pow Wow. Best wishes from a non native from Kentucky.
Um, frybread is not traditional. Frybread is a Slave Food. The First People did not mill wheat, it's European.
