I still see so many comments with people that still use CCLeaner. There are two other alternatives which I recommend, Bleachbit and Privazer are FAR superior products. Unlike CCleaner which was hacked and literally installed malware on thousands of PCs.

A long time ago, it was a techie-recommended tool, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone now.
It's always the same as with any other software. Starts as a small project, oriented towards users. Then gradually it becomes a company with CEO, managers and so on. Their focus no longer is the consumer, instead it's become the investor.
Same happened to a company I recently resigned from. As soon they started hiring managers, I no longer had fun doing my job and it became about numbers and reaching targets. I ran the department pretty much solo for years, then one day I had to answer to an external hired manager that I had to train at the same time.
Then stuff started to be demanded from me that were not at all what I signed up for originally, which prompted me to leave.
Before SSDs became mainstay and people used the old spinning drives, defragging, cleaning up the registry orphans, deleting old files and optimizing location of files on the disk could in some instances make a noticeable difference due to the drive's slower read and write speeds, especially if you had loads of programs and files on your computer. Nowadays, there is rarely a performance boost, some exceptions are on small drives on SBC's and cheap laptops, where space is limited and you might need to run disk cleanup to delete installation files, clear up a bit more space, allow for swap, etc. you get real boosts when you upgrade RAM capacity and speeds, get a faster SSD or processor, or get rid of applications that use loads of RAM.
I agree - probably unnecessary with SSD's - I don't have a large SSD, so still use defrag and CC free, as they do help.
@@paulf2557 my limited knowledge is that defragging SSD is actually damaging it. Chckdsk command could harm it also. SSDs already perform these processes by themselves, they work differently from HDD.
@@D.von.N Sorry, my reply was a bit ambiguous looking back at it.
I don't defrag or use CC on the SSD drive, just the main spinning one.
These very actions also work with SSDs. Especially when you clean up gigabytes of a 128Gb drive by removing folders of kilobyte in size.
@@LedoCool1 I tend to agree with the majority view that defragging SSD's is unnecessary and possibly harmful, but you do what you do.
Just wanted to let you know. i just subscribed to your channel...i find your videos extremely useful and informative....I've used many of your suggestions and I'm happy. Pennsylvania USA watcher...
I still use the free version today. Ill never pay for the garbage. but i do use it for hard drive cleanup i do lots of hard drive cleaning and such. i like the wipe option.
You pay with your private data.
@@JohnDoe-wl8zk I use the portable version and its completely blocked from making any outbound connections in my firewall.
I've just installed the portable version of privazer. After allowing it to run it run for 12 minutes, I got a pop-up to say it would take a further 2 hours to complete the clean-up. Fearing that something was wrong, I aborted the clean-up and uninstalled the tool. I remember after running bleachbit on my previous Lenovo, I got a constant repair mode loop and an unbootable laptop. So as they say, once bitten, twice shy.
2 hours to complete huh? Pretty sure you activated the "clean the free space" option or something like that. Same as with Bleachbit, make sure that you read every option and select only what you need and don't mindlessly select everything and click start.
Update to my last comment. The next morning, after running the privazer program, I noticed my laptop was having problems starting windows. Normaly it takes c. 2 seconds to fire up and load my browser. This morning it took c. 2 minutes with lots of freeze ups and weird things going on. As soon as things appeared to stabilize, I went to a restore point pre the privazer installation, and then rebooted. Everything is now working as it was before I installed privazer. I suspect some Free Malware came with the tool, so hopefully it won't give me problems in the future. 🤬🤬
This is caused by faulty sectors.
A repair would help to get your speed back.
In PrivaZer, click on "restore+repair" and choose to repair the sectors. That's it !

CCleaner can be used to clear uninstall registries of Apps which don't uninstall themselves properly leaving telemetry and registry entries behind.
Use Revo instead .. does a proper job.
It can also damage the registry which it can when just cleaning registry from a program you leave installed mainly from the system 32 sections making your pc unstable and probably need to a fresh install of windows.
@@shaunrichards744 Yeah but most users are not power users.
Use Revo uninstaller to generally uninstall programs. It comes in a free version as well.
I don't see any reason cleaning any residue registry at all. As mentioned above, it can screw up your system and thus need to reinstall Windows. Happened to me many years ago when I was little and believed in crap "cleaner" programs like this.. never again.
Thanks Brian, I always enjoy watching your content.
I appreciate that!
I still use ccleaner free but only to get rid of temporary files and to keep only the cookies I want to keep. The rest of it I ignore or disable, I get no popups and have never used the registry cleaner part.
You don't need a program to remove temp files. Press window button with the letter R, it will open the run window, then simply type, Temp, press enter, it will now open your temp folder, close all other windows and just delete the lot. Now proceed the same step but this time type %temp% and proceed to delete the lot. Job done.
It's easy
%temp%
Enter
Control A, Delete
Run
temp
Enter
Control A
Delete
Skip
I don't like 'hooks' in my registry that some program can later use, though, to be fair, sometimes when I reinstall an old program I used to use, such "hooks" (preexisting traces of the program) are actually useful as they restore my old settings the way I had them. So I do on rare occasion use CCleaner to clean the registry of these traces, probably once every one or two years or so. CCleaner has not caused an issue and I don't have it with my startup files.
@@RA-Redacted68 - while typing your novel, ccleaner has done it all in one click :)))
What company isn't gathering data? What Company hasn't been hacked?
Ok will get rid of it , thanks for info .
As far as I know, CCleaner means Crap Cleaner. Too bad it doesn't clean your computer from itself. Get rid of this crap program.

@@Britec09I used it until watching this
Tronscript, which hasn't been updated in quite some time, still uses it as well.
I use it like in 1999 until I forgot to uninstall it on my cousin's computer and she just screw up her computer and I had to install windows 98se to fix it.
I think CNET need to take it out the download section. Lot's of people go to CNET and see it on top download program and that's why people still have it.
Can you discuss about Deep Freeze Standard (Faronics) on your next video?
the biggest problem is people listen to what someone said to them down the pub, they used to have a commodore or spectrum 40 years ago so they must be experts.
LOL but I would argue if somebody owned a Commodore or Spectrum from 40 years ago, it means they started with PCs in 1984, so unless they are really stupid they must have learned a lot since then, so yes, they are probably experts today.

Good afternoon Bri I what is your opinion on Revo uninstaller
I have an old auslogics boost speed. Like a 4.5 version maybe. Newer stuff is full of bloat. Use it offline, never allow it to the net.
I am on of the people that still use ccleaner just to delete startup item, because task manager can only disable but not delete. Thats it, I will try use other option if available 😂
Sir do you like CCleaner? Do you really find it useful? Please tell more. What about registery cleaning functionality of CCleaner?
You CAN'T make your processor and the bus speeds to go faster with a Windows program because it would have to access the kernel
Ive been using this cleaner since it was first launched it does the job for me
What do you think about jv16 Power Toolls?

You are so welcome
@@Britec09Bleachbit and Privazer are not available for Android.
Any suggestions for Android to do the same thing?
Gave up on CCleaner years ago. So what do you think about Malwarebytes? GOOD or BAD ?
Malwarebytes is good. Especially if you use it disposably. Uninstall once you done the scan and clean.
Malwarebytes is almost always the first suggestion everywhere on the internet when something nasty has entered on your Windows. It has a very good reputation but it hates pirated software and has a bit high false positive detection rate.
Good .. but be careful, it can find sometimes false positives and so some programs may fail to run coz the damn thing has removed their executables.
I have been using Glary Utilities. What do you think of it?
The Bleachbit interface is fine for pros and power users who can decipher and tweak it to run the way they want. But a regular user just wants a clean and understandable interface. Creating a cookie ALLOW list in Bleachbit is extremely challenging, whereas the CCleaner interface is easy to read and understand. Show an easier way to wipe cookies, but keep the ones you want, and I will gladly try it.
AVG ULTIMATE is similar to CCLEANER,... is the AVG so bad... as the described in video?
See my comment about Avast and AVG above, yes they are both that bad. I used AVG until it stopped working while updating, and moved to Avast. I used that for several years, as well as CCleaner when it was owned by Piriform. Then it just went from bad to worse, so I retired all 3.
AVG has helped malware sadly
AVG is also a subsidiary of AVAST as of 2016 alongside Piriform who developed CCleaner, all of which are known to harvest user information for profit via ad companies unfortunately.
I use the uninstaller all the time and the registry cleaner.
I had my registry ruined once by a registry cleaner app and had to reinstall Windows. So you might want to backup your registry first, before running the cleaner.
Wow! Oletta Granny my lovely Oletta Granny ❤❤❤😊😊
I like your video. I can’t believe at people still feel forward to install this program. The sea cleaner are using NORTON I hope you come up another video
I swear I used CC in my teens (over 20years ago) and even then I'm sure it did naff all 😅

Amazing content. watching here👍
Thank you so much 👍
I used c cleaner years ago on XP or 7) great review.
microsoft pc manager is free
i last used it about 4 years ago
According to Cary Holzman Windows has all this in it already. I believe if you know what you are doing you wn't need any 'extra' software
From my experience there is no performance increase by cleaning the registry and if you do clean the registry you run the risk of removing something that could cause you problems. I stopped using registry cleaners years ago and have never had a registry problem since. Personally for me it's not worth the risk using a registry cleaner or messing about with the registry anyway. If you really know what you're doing with the registry that it may be a different matter.
Windows has own tools for clean and resolve issues, in the past was great, today is useless, thanks for your video
makes folks feel "useful" and "techy", without really considering WHY? Its kinda FUN, too, to watch the colored bars and squiggles on one's monitor! Silly, I know, but...heyyyy...fun is good, if harmless :-)
Another reason is that it's a carryover from the Windows 7 days. It's habitual.
I agree.
CORRECT!!!
revo uninstaller does it all.
WHy use CC when you have tools like Autoruns?
I use a cracked portable CCleaner to do things like remove leftover registry entries for Edge after i've removed it. Obviously it wont speed up my PC or whatever else it claims, i just like to keep things lean and tidy. And being cracked it doesn't have any popups/nagging. I also scan cracked software inside a VM with multiple AV/malware scanners. There's no problems with CCleaner if you know what you're doing, but i'll give Privazer a go.
Thank goodness I don't have to worry about this stuff in Linux!...My Fedora laptop and ZorinOS desktops?...run just as fast as they did from Day 1!!....
I don't use any of this crap. It's easy enough to clean old temporary files on the PC manually with things like, temp, %temp%, prefetch, and so on.
I use "this crap" .. just because I like it 😋
@@greybeard5774 It's your PC. Do it your way.

Nothing wrong with the free version of CC - it does nag a bit, but what free stuff doesn't.
Don't use any of the other stuff like Software Updater, Driver Updater etc, but the main Cleaner does its job fine if you set it up to do what you want it to.
All the words have never "drawn me in" as you put it.
Best freeware to use on the ever untrustworthy Windows 10 or 11 - is O&O ShutUp10++ - stops all the telemetry rubbish if used properly.
What, you use 10 & 11 without it? - Now that really is mad.
And people use the main free Cleaner because it works, whatever you say against it.
And it does what I need it to do.
Sir does registery cleaning part of CCleaner free also work? It is useful? Do you notice any difference?
@@lifeindivine Never used the registry cleaner part.
Registry meddling can be risky unless you know exactly what you are doing.
If I felt the registry had a problem, I would rather install a fresh OS than anything else.
And a fresh install from scratch every once in a while is good to do anyway.
Agree for 100%
@@paulf2557 Thank you Sir. Though I feel fresh installing Windows is a lot of work if/when one has to install a lot of application softwares and customise OS and softwares as well according to one's needs. These days softwares and Games are very big too, like I play Halo Infinite which is about 50 GB download. That is why I used CCleaner, it seems to remove all the errors and glitches and slowdowns and makes the system fresh without needing to reinstall it.

Nice one thank you very much I had been using that software since Windows XP now I will delete it, I thought it was real

Privazer doesn't make sense nowadays since windows 11 laptops encrypt the SSD and simply kills HDD or SSD quickly. Bleachbit, hibit uninstaller, wise disk cleaner are pretty good. Even Microsoft PC manager is good enough.
Didn't get your point being storage sense being insecure. You can always call cleanmgr
How about Microsoft PC Manager
