    I'm 33 and I just had my first pap this week. My mother instilled shame about vaginas when I was a kid, as a result, I held off not getting one for 12 years, I would have gone much longer. I realized that I NEEDED to actively take better care of myself.

    The point in testing people younger than 30 is so they might be aware that they have something they don't want to spread around. These new guidelines basically ensure that this thing will spread throughout the community unchecked.

    It is shocking to me how much things have changed in the last say 25 yrs. Always had the 1st atypical blah blah result, always. OB would immediately want to schedule for another pap. And they never ever explained that their were different strains of HPV and what each meant. Would have been great info to know worrying about warts that were never going to friggin happen. It’s a shame we pay so very much for such crap level of care so often. Crying shame. Do appreciate u sharing the knowledge with us though. Helpful

Sounds like it will be uncomfortable and hurt and I asked my insurance and they said no that’s diagnostic and not preventative so they’re not gonna pay for it.

      They don't automatically check for HPV that could be why you didn't know until a smear finally did come back abnormal. My insurance wouldn't do the test bc I'm not 30 I said do it anyway an send me the bill they did it. An sure enough even with normal pap they found I have hpv. Supposedly low risk. But smh. Healthcare system an insurance is ridiculous!

    I have had normal, HPV negative paps my entire life. My last pap (1 week ago) came back as AGUS, AGC Atypical glandular cells (HPV negative). I haven't had my period in 4 months which I wasn't too concerned with because I thought I was close to menopause or perimenopausal (I'm 46). I am very concerned because this seemed to have come on very quickly. My colposcopy and endometrial biopsy is today and I'm freaked out.

      @OceanMetTheSky Yes. I ended up having disordered proliferated endometrium (benign). I just had another pap smear, which was negative HPV, and negative for intraepithelial lesions (negative for cancer). My OBGYN thinks it showed up as AGC because of the disordered proliferation of the endometrium. If you have that result, keep your head up. It doesn't necessarily mean cancer! 😊

      You need cell cultures from the cervix to test accurately for cervical cancer. Or at least to catch it early.

    • @shyofthemoon1175
      @shyofthemoon1175 7 месяцев назад +1

      This is absolutely not true. A urine test will tell you nothing about cervical cancer and cervical cancer will only be seen on ultrasound if it's really large. If your wife finds the speculum to be uncomfortable she can request a smaller one. Momentary discomfort is worth the reassurance that you don't have cervical cancer or the knowledge that you do so you can be treated before it's too late.

They did a Pap smear in my first trimester which came back with that result, and then because of that I had to have one after she was born and then another 6 months after that. They said both needed to come back normal, which they did. I was curious if that was standard? My doctor said it was fairly common in the first trimester for women to get an abnormal result.

Additionally, that is can come back after “clearing”. I’ve been told that it comes and goes once you get an initial HPV infection.

      This will depend on the strain. When we talk about genital warts (it’s HPV) or say herpes (HSV) these virus are for life. They stay dormant in our bodies and can eventually come back, that’s why you can have a herpes outbreak etc. Other strains of HPV do not stay dormant and our bodies immune system can fight them!

    I kept crying so much about some medical exam home movie of myself that I couldn’t get to make last year. (my first gyno exam it was and was so deeply disappointed that I couldn’t make it without being at home doing it instead by simulating/faking it). Is that true that my medical (gyno) exam movie still have and need to be be simulated/faked? Am I right? Do I have to simulate my own gyno exam movie at home? I hope not in the future and I’m so scared that it will still end up simulated because of the gynecologist not letting me do it at all in the medical exam room. So deeply disappointed that I couldn’t do the movie in there for real at all. So deeply upset and so mad (crying about it too). What should I do about this deeply upsetting situation? Do I still have and need to simulate it in my home every time I want to do that movie after I move out too?😓

    I had been very upset that I couldn't make the kind of medical exam movie that I wanted to make because of the ridiculous very strict camera rules about it. I wished that I was allowed to make my gynaecological exam movie in their place instead of my bedroom at home. Deeply upset about it. My first one occurred last year when I was 36 years old and still a virgin at the time. If I wanted to make that film and picture at the time, would it needed to be simulated/fake and also pretend their clinical filming location at my own home which is in the bedroom? Why or why or not? If I did tell my doctors about that question, they probably would have said yes. I'm very deeply upset and so disappointed about their camera policies that they still have to make me simulate it in my own home. I also get into tears and cry about this issue because of the way they would have told me to do it (fake/simulated/staged.) Do I still have to simulate it whether if I want to or not? Yes or no? Why or why not?

      You have nothing to worry about if you have never been sexually active. Keep in mind HPV can be spread through any skin to skin contact, even just intimate touching, not only intercourse. If you never had any intercourse or intimate touching, then there is no way that you could contract HPV.
