Hopefully, we will have routine tests in the future similar or STI testing so that we can know before we get the virus, but for now, there is no way to know.

First of all, thanks for the video but It is not true that there is no test available for men, as you claim at 2:22 and 6:57, even though you contradict yourself at 5:00. I believe you are well intended, but this is dangerous misinformation. There might be no FDA-approved test in the US, but there are tests available in Europe, for example. I was vaccinated with Gardasil back in 2013, so I never bothered to look for tests. About 4 years ago, however, after having discussions with an HPV-positive partner, I decided to look for tests out of curiosity. The first internet results I found claimed there were no tests for men, so I gave up and moved on. This year, however, after other friends turned out positive, my interested was sparked again and I discovered that I could actually get tested here in Romania. I got tested in a clinic via urethral swab and was positive for 2 strains, including one high-risk. These strains were not covered by Gardasil, but they are covered by Gardasil 9. I didn't know that Gardasil 9 existed because my doctor just repeated the same mantra that "men don't need to get tested for HPV" (I live in Romania, not exactly the most progressive country in Europe). I still don't understand why that is the case. I am no doctor but the only conclusion I have been able to reach so far is that our society is sexist and treats HPV as a female problem for no good reason. Perhaps the fact that urethral swab tests are unpleasant plays a role. I know it is epistemically responsible to make sure your sources are relevant for your country, but it is also true that a diverse set of people around the world use English-language information to educate themselves and make important decisions, so it is also the moral responsibility of any content creator in the US to be aware of this and not spread the myth that it's impossible for men to get tested for HPV. The tests may not be as reliable as the FDA would like, but honestly I think FDA is being irresponsibly demanding with their standards. I think the fact that Europe has approved HPV tests for men once again shows that Europe is more progressive and has better standards than the US. I am afraid I might have exposed people to HPV when I could have easily avoided it if only I knew I was positive a few years ago. I can only hope that I got infected recently. Doing the tests earlier would have also allowed me to be better informed, and it might have made me realize earlier that there was a new vaccine (Gardasil 9). This could have prevented me from contracting a high-risk strain. Second, when giving tips about how to avoid spreading HPV, two of your tips are redundant and do nothing more than praising monogamy and stigmatizing polyamory, while none of your tips are actually informing men about the most important thing they should be doing: TAKING THE GARDASIL 9 VACCINE. Did you find treatment? If so, what did you use for it. And now that you're more educated due to the situation, is it possible to cure the HPV or clear it out our bodies ? I ask because I think I may have it due to the brownish flat marks on my shift. They have slowly grown in, and I'm freaking out. Without any symptoms, I just noticed it, and now I think I see 2 new ones very small. I went to the Derm and they just gave me this ointment called imiquimod. And after hearing that it burns and causes bad scabs I'm just scared.

Here in Romania they just tell me to ignore it and move on because I'm a man and I don't have any visible marks or symptoms of any kind. I only know I have strains 52 and 44 because I got genotyped. If this is possible in your region I would recommend to get genotyped as well. In terms of treatment, what I know from women diagnosed with high-risk strains is that they are given immunity-boosting treatment (e.g. Coriolus versicolor). The body is supposed to get rid of it eventually, although there's no guarantee. I've had my strains for over a year now, but I haven't started immunity-boosting treatment yet, I've only started investigating these options now so I will see what my doctor gives me.

I’ve been married for 24 years and never been with anyone else. I did read that a hysterectomy can trigger dormant HPV and I had mine in 2019. Is this true or did my husband of 24 years step out on me and give me this. I’m still having bad paps and have to go every 2 months. The surgery didn’t work and I don’t even have a cervix. Why is it so difficult to find accurate explanations of why a man having a test is unheard of. (But a woman must!) A man doesn't want to cause harm towards his partner too!! If a man thinks he has it because of his past partner saying she did - why tell him "its common - everyone has it" when he wants tested to be sure he is clean for his NEXT partner that knows they are CLEAN. (With out vaccine due to ages..) If you want to know its gone, why is there not a test..? And assume it's gone because of no symptoms in a man. HOW would a man know if he was cured if you aren't testing to know its gone? If you are saying it clears from men faster.. with no proof they had it..? No symptoms no way to see it - what sense does that make? You just said you couldn't test it to even see it.. but it cures its self.. Something strangely doesn't add up. fwiw if I was a man who really wanted that test, I would use just about any truth I could to justify getting something that would offer me results and proof. I was thinking about this a few weeks ago... There is a lot less expected of men in terms of their engagement with the medical system... They are not obligated, coddled, tracked or scheduled to be invasively scanned regularly throughout their life... I feel like their fertility and sexual health is not regarded as paramount because they have so little investment in the gestation and birth of a healthy human child. The system is not geared towards sexual health checkups even though we now see that men are vectors and carriers of so many trad. I just had the surgery done and it literally took them 30 to 45 minutes when I left the hospital. I was fine days later I had to go back to the hospital and be readmitted because of constipation but ever since that last visit I felt like things haven’t been right and I’ve been feeling bullied and my college campus with the term hippo being brought up continuously and I know I’m not even sexually active. Theoretically, yes. Any skin-to-skin contact with the virus orally or genitally can transmit the virus and cause the infection. As afr as the incubation period, this varies by strain but is usually 1 to 6 months.

This is an excellent question. HPV is linked with the development of cancers, and research has shown that people with testicular cancer often have a higher prevalence of HPV. Research has not been done to look at HPV causing testicular cancer. Hopefully, this will change in the coming years.

Why is it so difficult to find accurate explanations of why a man having a test is unheard of. (But a woman must!) A man doesn't want to cause harm towards his partner too!! If a man thinks he has it because of his past partner saying she did - why tell him "its common - everyone has it" when he wants tested to be sure he is clean for his NEXT partner that knows they are CLEAN. (With out vaccine due to ages..) If you want to know its gone, why is there not a test..? And assume it's gone because of no symptoms in a man. HOW would a man know if he was cured if you aren't testing to know its gone? If you are saying it clears from men faster.. with no proof they had it..? No symptoms no way to see it - what sense does that make? You just said you couldn't test it to even see it.. but it cures its self.. Something strangely doesn't add up.
IF a man is homosexual.. or bisexual that is the reason he may be able to get checked? That seems a bit unfair.. Should I tell my doctor (I am) so they check? Is there other words I can use..?
fwiw if I was a man who really wanted that test, I would use just about any truth I could to justify getting something that would offer me results and proof.
I was thinking about this a few weeks ago... There is a lot less expected of men in terms of their engagement with the medical system... They are not obligated, coddled, tracked or scheduled to be invasively scanned regularly throughout their life... I feel like their fertility and sexual health is not regarded as paramount because they have so little investment in the gestation and birth of a healthy human child. The system is not geared towards sexual health checkups even though we now see that men are vectors and carriers of so many trad. "female" conditions.
fwiw my dr told me when i asked, the only reason they give the vaccine to both girls AND boys in schools is because of the oral/throat cancer that it can prevent in them. 🤷🏼♀

I just had the surgery done and it literally took them 30 to 45 minutes when I left the hospital. This is an excellent question. HPV is linked with the development of cancers, and research has shown that people with testicular cancer often have a higher prevalence of HPV. Research has not been done to look at HPV causing testicular cancer. Hopefully, this will change in the coming years.
