Monuments & Romantic Ruins of Falkland in Fife, Scotland + Painting Pine Cones

- Welcome back! This week, we are searching for inspiration in Falkland - hiking up to the Bruce Tyndall Monument & discovering the romanic ruin of the Temple of Decision.
Listen to the birdsong and enjoy stunning views of the Fife countryside.
We look for things to photograph along the way, that I can take home and paint - watch as the watercolour painting comes together at the end of the video.

Jack is so cute and happy, real water dog no matter the temperature, fun to watch!
I’d love to have Jack’s energy for about a week. I need to start deep cleaning my home.

Little Jack Spaniel has the waggiest tail I’ve ever seen! He is so happy! I love it. Beautiful painting and a lovely walk!

Absolutely amazing walk Sarah ,Jack is such a photogenic pup he's so handsome , I wish I had just a quarter of his energy lol 😂 he only stops running when you put him on the lead. I love this video. You can almost feel the crispness of the air. You are so talented in your painting. And Jack is so active, he walks/runs 3 times as much as you. You must all have had a good rest after this trip.

Hello from Ohio. Amazing art work. Great walk. You need to go back when the plants are in bloom. Many look like either Mountain Laurel or Rhododendrons. Good job Willie on the drone shots and the music. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jackie! I hope you are managing to rest up and the healing is quick after your surgery. It’s a frustrating time - I was off my feet for 6 weeks after mine and I ended up turning to painting to relieve the boredom! Thanks for watching 😊 Sarah x

Hi Sarah. Thank you for another beautiful walk this week. Watching really makes me feel like I am there taking in the colors of the forest, the and amazing views, the scents of nature and feeling the coolness of the air. Jack always makes me giggle as he is so expressive and full of energy. As you said, I really like how the cones lift off the page and it’s as though you could feel there texture. I know ur pain! I fractured my ankle in three places and had major tendon damage! You have your youth on your side and walking is so great for strength! I love the ruins because of their History! 💜💕❤️
Thanks Linda! I was very lucky to have a long, slow recovery (thanks to a certain period of time when we had to stay in the house a lot...), so I feel really good about my ankle now. Fingers crossed I don't get any more issues, as I love being able to get out and explore as much as I can!

What a wonderful video. The area is just beautiful. I would love to take that walk myself some day. All the things you stop and look at or take pictures of are just what I would stop to notice, so it's a very pleasant experience. It's very cathartic. Thank you so much for taking us along. A great video to show off Falkland Estate.
Both the landmarks you featured, were built by local stonemason - my 3rd great-grand uncle, and namesake - George Page. He also built Falkland Parish Church, The Bruce Fountain, and other properties in the village.

Have you ever seen fractals, Sarah? They are everywhere in nature and absolutely stunning. The pinecone follows the golden ratio. :)

My cat got very excited when the birds were on the table. Especially when the black birds were on at the end of that segment.

January 26th here in Ohio, and it is zero degrees F.... with snow over my knees (24 inches). I would love your winter walk!
Ooh wow that sounds beautiful but difficult! We had very similar conditions this time last year - Jack had to jump through the snow in a wee coat!

Fallen trees with new ones growing out of them is common here in the Rain forests of the Pacific Northwest.
Those ruins really show the great Love she had for her husband.
When mature, those new plantings around the monument will be nice, but I wonder why the old growth was cut down .
Still Life is very challenging but you have captured the details so well.

Thanks Rik! I’m sure the new growth will be amazing - although I think they are quite slow growing. The estate is now part of a sustainable forestry operation, so the previous trees were probably cut down for that reason. Although, there are also a lot of trees which did not survive the big storm we had late last year 😢 Sarah x

Great video. Just a thought, perhaps Jack should have a channel. He really enjoys his time outdoors. Mount a camera to head, turn him loose.
Ha! He would probably out do us both! But I have a feeling that we would be doing most of the editing for him…we have tried “Jack-cam” on a few occasions, but he is so fast that it’s a bit like watching a rollercoaster 🤣

The Falkland Estates reminds me of some trails where I live...you'd love the Pacific Northwest...Except we don't have any castles, but we do have some old rotting structures. Still cool. Lovely watercolor😊
