HOLD ON
I need a little bit of hope
One ray of light
Need just enough peace
To make it through the night
I want to leave all I know
Forget my name
I want a wisdom deep enough
To stand through the constant change
So where is our common ground
Everything’s falling down
Hold on to what matters
Give me your tired and your poor
Who yearn to breathe free
Send the homeless tempest-tossed to me
Where’s the line that we crossed
That broke the bond of trust
How did everything come to be them and us
So where is our common ground
When everything’s falling down
Everything shattered
Hold on to what matters
Hold on, hold on
Hold on to what matters
We are all afraid
We are all unsure
There’s no waving of the wand no miracle cure
It’s not the end of the world
Not the worst of your fears
It’s just the price for the last 500 years
It’s the price for the last 500 years
So where is our common ground
When everything’s falling down
Everything shattered
Hold on to what matters
Hold on, hold on, hold on
Hold on
Glen has one of the best singing voices ever.
Todd has a very good voice as well.
As the years (and decades!) have passed, Toad continues to be my go-to for uplifting, inspiring, reflective, and soul-stirring music.
The best band of alternativa rock
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL VOICE. When I retire and only have to get up and out of bed for my own reasons, I plan to have a daily hour of music keyed up to enjoy with my coffee. You can bet Toad will be front and center every morning for the rest of my life. You guys bring tears of joy to my eyes!
Being a fan for 30 years now, still loving every minute of them!!
Yea but were all here because of 1991..That's where it started..What an era.
I remember seeing them 3 or 4 times in small clubs in Nashville. Thanks for the new album. It's great. He's still playing barefoot.
Just listened to the new album from start to finish (streaming)...it is OUTSTANDING and you will not be disappointed. And just so the boys make a little more $$$, I am going out this afternoon and buying a physical copy on CD. Thanks Toad for this great end-of-summer gift! 👍🏻
Physical media always sounds better, and yes, it supports the musicians to a greater degree. That said, I LOVE Toad The WetSprocket. Good to see (and hear) new music.
Thats how it should be you believe in a band and are a true fan buy the music buy the merch show support to insure music in the future
Outstanding is an understatement!!! My goosebumps hurt from this album.
I always buy Toad CDs. Something takes me back to the old days when I do that. It is much more enjoyable too.
@@CalamityJaime Goosebumps just from this song for me! Amazing album.
Still one of the great bands that somehow never received the accolades and recognition they deserve
I always thought they were an extremely talented band.
Toad never ceases to amaze me. They captured me with something's always wrong. I lost my job and became a single dad all in 7 months. I love that song. I purchased dulcinea on CD and was hooked
Glenns voice sounds just as dreamy as when I went to see them throughout the 90's. Love this song!❤
One of the best bands to come out of the 90's, so glad to see they are still recording and performing. Love this song!
Toad are one of the brightest yet most hidden gems of the 90s. Grew up on you guys in the 90s and it warms my heart that they're still making art!!! I'll love Toad forever!!!
I agree wholeheartedly!
I’ve played this song about 30 times passed month’s. The song writing and production are super. I am amazed how the drums, bass and lead guitars create a great ambiance.
love this band~~ Walk on The Ocean, and I finally did~Im now 65
Todds playing on this is awesome!
Wearing my Toad shirt now!
love those guitar tones!
I love it how Josh, the drummer, is enjoying himself. You rarely see a drummer singing along as he performs. He seems to be very pleased to be part of the band.
Wouldn't you be? 😉
What happened to Randy?
@@moonglow630 Randy was diagnosed in the early 90s, with a rare disease that makes his bones extremely brittle. I assume his condition has deteriorated to the point where he probably can not risk playing/ touring any more. He was looking really feeble when New Constellation came out in 2016.
@@smokymountains5249 Ahhh, that’s sad to hear.
I would, too. I mean, being part of a very important band, especially if you are a fan, would mean the world to anyone!
August 27th...it's only hours away! Better than Christmas!
Hey Fellas! I'm watching from the hospital. My wife's having our first baby boy!
Name the baby Toad!!!
Congrats! Ushering in a new 🐸 fan.
Glen, I love your voice! You sound just like you always have. You guys sound great on this great song.
Glen back barefoot, belting out another great song. I feel like 1992 all over again.
Those big vocals with that sense of urgency in the final refrain really stick with you!
Have been a huge fan of TTWS for many years. I hope this brings them back to enjoying what they do so well
Good to see the bassist still has that head of AWESOME hair.
I remember when I first saw him in the "Somethings always wrong" video sooo many decades ago...I was astounded at how great his hair looked.
The joy of rediscovering this group via new music is virtually beyond reproach.
Great musicians and truly nice guys.
The album is brilliant. Love this video. Play for us. That's all we want. Thank you for being a bright light this past year and a half. I'm forever grateful.
SONG OF THE YEAR!!!!!!
What a comeback!!!
voila un morceau musical trop top j'adore, vraiment excellent...
I heard TTWS for the first time in my college years, I loved Dulcinea, I listened to it from beginning to end without stopping. Keep making good music guys, you are the best! greetings from Ecuador
Thx ...beautiful ✌️ 😊 voice🥰🙂💗
Please do more videos like this! on breaks let’s checkout the gear, jam some more answer question then jam again.
The world is a wonderful place again!!!!!n
I love TTWS, but I do miss Randy Guss on drums. I know he's got that rare bone disease, and I hope he's going well. Good to hear new music from these guys.
Yeah, my first thought was, “Where’s Randy?” Didn’t know. 😞 Saw Toad five times in the ‘90s, met them all backstage. Boys next door, all so pleasant.
I thought the same thing.
My thoughts go out to Randy.
My two older brothers Have a rare bone disease called Engalmans. One has too much bone mass the other has too little bone mass. They both made it to their 50’s. The doctors back when they were kids and thought they wouldn’t live into their 30’s.
Just listened to the whole album, Hold On was my favorite song prior to the album was released, but Fever is such a beautiful song, I've had it on repeat for the last hour and a half. Easily top 3 TTWS songs for me. As a Gen Z'er with some pretty bad climate anxiety it meant a lot to me and I hope more people hear it
AWESOME !!! Took all of 1 second to feel home.
Still great!!!!
Just recently saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee and they were fantastic!! Really soulful vibe.....love them.
I've been a fan of you guys for many years. Hearing that voice, drums and guitar again lifted me up out of the pandemic blues for about 2 1/2 minutes and took me back to a simpler time. Thank you!
Finally!! I almost pasted out.
I've heard their name over the years - and as far as I know, this is the first I've actually heard them. I love this song.
You're in for one of the greatest discography's of all time. Enjoy going back through it all!
Almost certainly you've heard them many many times without realizing. Enjoy!
Giz! This is a love that lasts for so long!!! Thanks guys!!!❤👊🏾🎧
I couldn't love you guys more than I do right now. God. This is perfection. Thank you!!!!
Saw them in concert at Sienna College with Rusted Root circa '95 or '96
And there you have my high school years folks.
Man I remember being a teenager when I first heard "Fall Down". Their sound still takes me back to my teenage years.
That voice....... so unique love it
Didn't know they were still around. Nice
Very nice. Good work too. Reminds me of a really positive experience I had with my band opening for TTWS at West Virginia University during early Fear days.
So psyched to see these guys at it again. Sounds fantastic! A bit unsettling though, to see Steve Bannon on bass...
hahah. You just killed me sir, and let's hope Dean doesn't see this.
Absolute awesomeness 😊🎶❤️😊🎶❤️.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Long live Toad the wet sprocket... Greetings from Mexico!!
Total goosebumps music!!
I just happened to listen to Fall Down a week ago after not having listened to Toad in a very long time. Of course the YT algorithms pushed a couple of more videos my way a voilà, here I am today. So cool to see and hear new Toad. I'm definitely buying the CD and sharing the link with friends. Thanks so much guys and keep up the great work.
Love it. So glad we have new Toad tunes to fill our ear holes
Santa Barbara talent, outstanding band.
I just clicked on this randomly, I have heard of the band before …way back when , What a surprise beautiful vocals and song mixed with great rhythm and lead guitar though out , great lyrics could be an anthem for these times, going to listen to the rest of the album, great tune, thank you gentlemen,
Such a perfectly economical song. Tight, efficient, potent and unexpected.
Timely song❤
Wow, what a wonderful song and sentiment in these times. Thank you TTWS!
Mr. Daubin you rock!!!! And Toad rocks too but that was old news : ) Welcome to the best band you'll ever back! (Unless Toto or Led Zeppelin reforms or something, and you land the gig!)
I miss seeing Randy back there. Josh looks like fun and is fitting in well..
Take care Randy.
Powerful song and love that Tele’s combo sound.
So glad their back. Been listening for 30 years
Love this!! Especially that he still plays barefoot, staying true!
This is so good! I've been waiting for some new TTWS. Sounds like you never missed a beat! A big part of the soundtrack of the years I came into my own. Thanks guys. 💥
Sounds like a hit to me !
Mighty Ducks!
Wow, Toad going with a Tele sound...i love it....
Love Transient Whales and Lantern Light! Please come to Salt Lake City on your next tour!
That rug really ties this video together!
My favorite band on earth continuing to do what they do, such an amazing song and new album! I feel like this song has a bit of a Jars Of Clay feel which is ironic since Toad is a huge influence on JoC.
A fellow Jars fan huh? Yeah I really miss them.
The new Jude Cole (note: Not *J.* Cole) record has a Jars vibe IMO.
I didn't know Steve Bannon also played bass for Toad the Wet Sprocket.
Lol. I was thinking Daryl Hall.
"Its not the end of the world, its not the worst of your fears..
Its just the price for the last 500 years..
Its the price for the last 500 years."
That is an amazingly astute and insightful observation, and 100% correct!!
I've loved this band since before Dulcenia!! Since 1991.. Fear I think was the album. Walk on the Ocean and Pray Your Gods!! Nice to see they're still writing great songs and they sound magnificent too. His voice is just as good as ever..these guys are awesome.
It's "SO" good!!!!
Cant wait till June 3 to see the only band that has carried me in some of my lowest days.
Outstanding
Glen Philips was my first childhood crush... I remember when i was 11 years old. I saw the music video the hit song "all i want" on T.V i was like fell in love with him and i said to myself one day i will find a man that looked like him.. He still looks nice. All I want is my always ring tone of my phone since 2015
That is the massage I needed. Beautiful.
Meu Deus do céu! Que dia, meus amigos, QUE DIA!
Amo vcs, caaaarrraaaiiii! Weeeeeeee!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Oi Juuuuu!
@@julianah3309 Juuuuuuu😍😍😍😍
É verdade
Incríveis!
Que bom não estar sozinho nessa vibe!!!!✌🏾❤
Reminds me a lot of the Something’s Always Wrong video. ❤️. Dual Citizen is my favorite off the new album although I love every track!!
It's like I'm in "my spot" in the front row when I watch this. Could I love you guys any more? I think not. ♡
The sound of that voice and that band brings me back……college road trips with cassettes played over and over.
Let's go guys. This song is great and I love the country spin. Drink some caffeine and write more like this song. This is your sweet spot.
Yup, I'm not even fully connecting with the whole album yet- but this song is everything that is Toad. Perfection.
I like this song but overall this entire album was a bit of a miss for me. it was originally going to be a Glen solo album at the last minute he asked the rest of the guys if they wanted to play on it instead and put it out as a toad record. that's why all of the songs were written by him alone. They have promised that the new album that's coming out next year will sound much more Toady as all of them are involved in the writing
Can't wait! 🎉🎊👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️
*joins Laia and minna/peeps in anticipation!
gu gu guuu Toad the Wet Sprocket! Excited to hear Hold On!
Thanks sooo much for all the music through the years!
The New Colossus poem excerpt 😍 Love everything about this song and performance.
Steve Bannon holding down the low end.
Sing it Glen!! Loving the vibe and esp. the lyrics.
Well this does have their older feel to it, so I am pretty happy with it.
Well done, fellas. Fortunate that you’re still making music and it never sounded better! Hope to see you live soon
Amazing lol it!!!
Wow! Awesome words, awesome music and nothing but Tele’s in sight😊
Superb
I needed this.
Fever and In The Lanterns Light are stand out tracks for me. The album grows on me the more I listen to it. Truth doesn’t feel like it fits on the album and disappointed he cleaned up the F bombs in the song.
Hahahhahahaha you remember the f bomb thing! Hahhahahah! It was for a good cause, c'mon! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great to see u yesterday. 🥰
@@juskywalkr great seeing you as well !!
Hi, Todd. Ah, the use of profanity in art 😬 Well, there was an instance of fans calling it the “f things up” song. Soon thereafter on StageIt, Glen made a point to say that perhaps a song that contains a reference to Frederick Douglass shouldn’t contain the f-word. I don’t appreciate songs being changed based on the mentality of a very small number of people, but maybe it’s for the best if the profanity is a major feature for them, and all they are choosing to hear.
@@Selena.H. I have always liked when Glen has included profanity in his songs. I wish he would have left it in on songs like Easier and Sleep of the Blessed.
@@TJH1971 Yes, we need it sometimes 😄 maybe changing it up live occasionally.
Big fan since the 90´s, you guys sounds really good, as always, looking forward to buy the album !!!
A fan since 90s till now and really love the All I Want. Really amazed that they have a new album. The band is still very good. The quality of voice and all.
Dean always writes the sweetest bass lines.
Awesome!
Toad ETERNOS
I CANNOT WAIT for this album!!! I absolutely loved the new constellation album and the architect of the ruin EP, I just cannot wait to hear more beautiful songs just like this!!!
this is one of only three songs on this album that sound remotely like Toad sadly. it's a watered down country record
Toad The Wet Sprocket fan forever
