Qualifications 1) Best band from the same High school (sorry Ramones) 2) Best Album ever written by a high school student (Pale) 3) Most interesting relationship with their record company (Fear, Dulcinea, and Coil) 4) 3 Brilliant record company albums, full of radio friendly singles. Everyone should have been happy; but apparently no one was. 5) A superior late career surge of creativity, that most bands never find. Toad The Wet Sprocket for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
I just bought the NEW Toad The Wet Sprocket album. It's excellent. I've been thinking all day about how challenging it must be to come back. But OMG, you did. The album is excellent.. The 90's had the best music. The song " Starting Now" has lyrics that resonate so well with me. My generation failed everybody, and I NEVER thought, I never thought I would be alive for the end of the world, with my grandchildren. I used to be very optimistic and resilient, and then I lost all my beliefs, and at age 66, I lost my belief in a benevolent God, and in Heaven, where all pain is healed. And now I feel less alone.
This is what we need right now. Starting Now! Very much captures that Toad sound that we all love. Video story line and execution is pretty cool. Let's go plant some flowers and vegetables and listen to music. And heal! Rock on, Toad and all Toad fans. ☮️ ❤️ 🌻 🎵
Clearly if you’re in America it’s obvious the leaders refuse to let go of their power and have no intention of doing anything but cause death and destruction. So yeah, it’d be nice if the citizens of the west would figure out it’s beyond time to let them know, we don’t want this world of death and destruction they’ve rained upon the world and their own ppl. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Self, repeat after me: This is one of the most important sets of lines from verses of this or any other TOAD songs album. All I own Is borrowed from my children I'll leave this world More bright than when I came in
33 years and you guys haven't lost your touch. Thank you for keeping the music of my youth alive. It's incredibly surreal to hear something made today and be reminded of my antics in the mall or at the skate park as an angsty teen. Thank you.
"All I own is borrowed from my children" is a beautiful concept. Some of us get caught up in hoarding whatever we can as we age. (Money, material items, attention, accolades, power, control, etc) But we can't take it with us. Best to accept that the youth are already inheriting whatever we have been. So we might as well share it and give it over gracefully. It's happening either way! Might as well enjoy watching them rise and shine, as we shine and set. What will we be remembered for? Being a dark cloud, hoarding and brooding... or a beautiful sunset, giving and illuminating?
Back in 1992 there were riots in LA, hurricanes in Florida, and a major recession. Hearing "All I Want" gave me strength to imagine better days ahead. Once again, Toad the Wet Sprocket has a song of optimism.
My 11 year old son and my 8 year old daughter loved the music. We love TOAD Wet Sprocket. Hugs my friends, Saulo. São Paulo City, Brazil. OBS. I listen to your music every day.
Glen you guys really hit the nail on the head with this message. Working together we can do anything. Loving and caring for one another. Hell of a video too! Very impressive. I have been here listening since the early days.
Wow! I thought I was a fan ..lol.. the name.. the profile picture.. nice! My personal favorite album of theirs and basically of all the albums that ever are or will be is *Coil* 💙
@Mike Russo great albums all, and as you say, each person will have their own experience (and they have no bad albums). But Coil may be worth another listen if it's been a while. Subject matter relevant to our moment even more than 1997. A very prescient and mature album, lyrically and musically. For me it's a culmination of their nineties growth. It's a masterpiece.
To know you guys not only a great band but also capture the human spirit in your heart is a joy. The reference of community, how to love, one another making wrongs right. Thanks for being solid after all these years TTWS!
This video must have taken forever to complete!!! But well worth the wait. I love the social commentary just in the video. Very powerful message. Thanks to everyone involved from concept to completion. I just love the song and video!!! And everything else you perform!!! 🐿✌️❤️
@Taylor Holloway I love the new song as well. I meant no harm at all. The only reason I mentioned Dulcinea is because it's in my Top 3 Albums. It was a huge compliment, not what you have made it out to be. I am a singer/pianist and music is my everything. Toad NOT relevant? Never, I love the band.
Reminds me of years ago when I helped my Mom turn the bookmobile parking lot in Brooklyn at the public library into a community garden, after she left it fell into disuse, but for several years it was something that the local kids took pride in growing their vegetable to show their parents and grand parents... my Mom's gone now and I live hundreds of miles away but it was a good thing to have done and with a bit of effort can be done again.
Ready for the new video guys. I have to tell you the video and song I still listen to when I need a lesson to be taught is "SOMETHING'S ALWAYS WRONG". The song and video gets an A+ from me.
When I heard the rumor that Toad the Wet Sprocket was coming back, I said: " THE Toad The Wet Sprocket??" and I was pretty excited. The 90's was the best decade, and it had the best music, by far. I was very poor during that decade. I've never owned a Toad the Wet Sprocket album until now. " Starting Now" hits me right where I live, and I love this song, as much as I loved " Walk on the Ocean". And here's my question: did you guys used to have more vocalists? Or is it just that now, I'm 66, and hearing impaired? I love multiple vocalists and lots of harmony. Let's bring it back. But thank you for coming back. I'm thrilled. And apparently I'm late to the party. I have 2 requests: a ten minute version of " Walk on the Ocean." And help Ginger Blossoms come back, too. But seriously, what a wonderful surprise. I had just gotten my sister the $5.00 Greatest Hits CD- it's the best one. And now there's a brand new album. Toad the Wet Sprocket. They really did come back, in just the best way possible. I love you guys.
Only discovered these guys after listening to walk on the ocean. cannot get enough of of them after that. Seems to me every generation comes some one with a message . If I got their message wrong , then fool to me.
Toad released an album & the Olympics happened in the best year of my life. 1992. It was the year I discovered Toad too. Here’s hoping these things repeating this year are signs that this year is gonna be a repeat of 1992 in its awesomeness.
This has now moved to my #1 Toad. #2 Toad is Come Down. #3 Toad is Good Intentions as well as Something's Always Wrong - a very close tie. #4 Toad is Something's Always Wrong as well as Good Intentions - a very close tie. #5 is I can't decide, because I'm far too focused (Glenn's voice)
Can't believe it's been 3 years already since this was released . Man I'm getting old but these national treasures Glen keeps giving us never will ! TTWS FOREVER ❤
I got introduced to TTWS many many years ago by an american girl who came from Florida called Kathy who might still live in Berlin (Germany). I introduced her to the Silencers (my fav music band) in return. I lost contact with her but never lost my passion and love for toad and their music. David (Scotland)

Yes yes ,,, so much!!!

Gets me every time I hear it. One of the two lines from this album I desperately want a tattoo of
Toad for President!!
AMEN
Great! Keep these coming. I’m so glad Toad is still making music. I’ll never stop listening.
33 years and you guys haven't lost your touch. Thank you for keeping the music of my youth alive. It's incredibly surreal to hear something made today and be reminded of my antics in the mall or at the skate park as an angsty teen. Thank you.
Great song. I still listen to my old Toad Cds. Glad to see you guys are still making music

Glen hasn't lost a step - still saying the most with the least words. I have always been a Toad fan, and I'm not changing any time soon.
No time like the present ❤️🌹☀️🌈

Cheers from MG/Brazil!! Can't stop listening to Toad Wet Sprocket! Love you guys!!
Cheers from São Paulo

This made my day.

@@laredolassoo Coil is their masterpiece! But as you said ... no bad albums.
Did I hear a touch of somethings always wrong in the end there glen . Fit perfectly 👌
Yes yes yes
Awesome Love TOAD !!!! the best !
No lectures just good ol music serving its best with completely good intentions. ONLY GOD KNOWS WHY?
I have been playing the whole album during my workouts everyday.
Can’t get enough of it.
Every track a gem.
I cannot believe I just now discovered this song but the timing was good for me. It's a song I'll keep going back to. Just beautiful.

Beautiful song and video! Thanks for the introduction to Antje Duvekot's stop-motion.
Dulcinea is one of my fav albums ever
@Taylor Holloway im guessing the toad guys like nostalgia a lot. nostalgia is paying the bills and keeping the lights on lol
Their earlier stuff was unrefined, but still the roots of what they've evolved to. Lifelong fan here.
The best thing to come out of 2020!! New Toad is always a good thing. Great song. Can’t wait for the album!!
Absolutely cool video & have loved the song for months! Squirrel Squad power!
Fantastic song, fantastic video. Can't wait for the new album
Thank you guys!!! Another pearl!!! Love it!!!
What we need right now! Thanks guys!
Tots mcAgree
Antje!
Brilliant video. Inspiration put into action with warmth and kindness.
I'm always willing to go along with the earnestness of Toad. Cool to hear echoes of the guitar jangle from "Something's Always Wrong" at the end.
I thought that very thing the first time I played it ( a few minutes ago....it sounds like a brighter tone of that song )
YES!!! Glad I’m not the only one who picked up on that.
Me too at the very first. Love them.
I thank you more than ever for your art in times like these. 🙏🏾🤍
Really well done, guys! Poignant and impactful visuals. The uplifting color change toward the end. It's very inspiring. That is some fine art!
I was overcome by emotion. Thank you! Hope, change, starting now! No more fear!! I will see you guys in Cincinnati!

Great Toad sound and wonderful video by Antje Duvekot who I also love as a singer songwriter. It's always a good day when you hear Glen Phillips sing
Ready for the new video guys. I have to tell you the video and song I still listen to when I need a lesson to be taught is "SOMETHING'S ALWAYS WRONG". The song and video gets an A+ from me.

Fantastic 👍👍 lovely full music & that quintessential 90s Pop Rock right there.. loved it.

I introduced her to the Silencers (my fav music band) in return. I lost contact with her but never lost my passion and love for toad and their music. David (Scotland)
Sooo good. This band somehow expels how I feel inside like no other band.
Such a sweet, hopeful video--and great song!
I love this! Thank you Toad! ✌
