A couple of my buddies said let's do it. I was the one they picked. I knew I couldn't eat it all but ate what I could and the guys who split the cost with me enjoyed steak sandwiches for a week. We did eat there at times because the food was great. Amarillo was cold in January, I also remember that. I was a kid from California and arrived in Amarillo on Jan 4th. Never have I seen the wind blow so cold. I was in shirt sleeves. What memories you brought back for me. Thanks.
Spent some time around Austin. Then after much hype I was seduced into visit "Salt Lick" just outside Austin. They had something called a "Helping heap" BBQ. 2 hrs later, couldn't walk or bend over enough to get to sit in the back seat in my bro's old Ford Escort three-door. Had to sit outside and take a breath. The dump 6 hrs later were very satisfying. BUT, that girl breaks every record and beats me flat out.
That was amazing and fun to watch - way to go! I did the challenge 10 years ago because I had the same ambition. I got to sit up on stage and they even had the camera above the stage that you can stream watch the video live. When they brought out my steak, they gave me the option to bite into it to make sure it was cooked the way I liked it. Mine ended up being a slight bit over cooked - so they took it back and cooked me another 72* ounce steak (20 minutes later). I had all of my friends cheering me on and the wife and kids at home watching on the live stream. Once they brought me the steak back - OMG, this thing literally was the size of my arm, hanging over the plate. So once I got into cutting through the steak, I was tearing through it...10 min...20 min....30 min... I was starting to seeing some light and the bottom of the plate! Then all of a sudden I hit this wall at 40 minutes...face starting turning white...the excitement was getting to me and yes, I even started to sweat...lol. My wife at home, had to run to the bathroom and came back - asked one of my kids: How's Daddy doing? And my kid with no expression says...I think Daddy threw up in the boot....Yes, I didn't quite have the same outcome as you - but it was definitely one of those check box items that I can say I tried...but failed miserably.
Being one who defeated this challenge as well (no. 9311) I’m actually mostly impressed you were able to drive home afterwards, I just went to the nearest motel and collapsed into the bed.

Now that's a funny story. lol
This is the first episode I watched sometime ago. I was amazed back then and am still amazed. She's the best!
Being one who defeated this challenge as well (no. 9311) I’m actually mostly impressed you were able to drive home afterwards, I just went to the nearest motel and collapsed into the bed.
sounds like a healthy thing
@Harry Manback you obviously have never eaten a large amount of meat..... There is no large poop the next day. Try 2-3 days later.

Thank you for such an upbeat video. Ur politeness vs challenge was touching.
Was nice to see such a great attitude
I ate a meal at this place during my drive from the east coast to the west coast several years ago. I didn't even think about attempting this challenge! She's right about those rolls too, they are outstanding. Congrats young lady.
I love the fact that she really took the time to enjoy the whole plate! And not ably drinking water
It is required by the challenged. I dont know what "ably drinking water" even means.
I took the challenge but could not finish, luckily I had the money to pay for it. You're a beautiful person with a hell of an appetite. Love ya!!!
You definitely make a sport of the whole game. Congrats. 10/10 for compliments to the establishment, etiquete, cordial banter, entertainment and raw power eating.

@@jldude84 The gospel by which we're saved. We're under Paul's ministry today. Therefore we're not under the law of the old testament. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
And that takes us back to John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. So it's only by GRACE that we are saved not by works. Jesus did all the work and gave us GRACE (unmerited favor) as long as we have FAITH (believe) in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for SALVATION (trust in his blood). That's the gospel. Jesus said, Ye must be born again to enter into the kingdom.(accept Jesus as your SAVIOR)

I agree with that man.
I could not do that challenge but that steak looked real good. I remember traveling thru Amarillo and seeing the Big Texan ads on the I-40 so seeing the video gave me a new perspective on the challenge. I've seen a few of your challenges and you really do love your food. Thumbs up.
Look at that savage fork grip!
"How much do you weigh little lady?"
"Buck twenty five"
Buck thirty three after that meal...
Nicely done! I tried the "Big Texan" when I was driving fromTacoma to Wichita Falls ,I was only able to finish two thirds of it, but it certainly was delicious! Kudos to you Katina!

What a delight to watch. I love her energy. Well done!
I am beyond impressed!! All the while having the best personality with 20 minutes to spare!! WOW!!
Katina calling everyone Ma'am and Sir is so wholesome for some reason??? I love her
If she's like mine, then she had a strict upbringing.
it's not a strict upbringing.. it's a good upbringing.. it's not hard to be a good person.. more people should try it!.. your videos are awesome Katina!! keep them coming
She's had what is called a Proper Upbringing...saying Ma'am and Sir is a sign of respect to someone you don't know. I would love to see this come back because being called Sweetheart and Hun by strangers decades younger than me just rankles me to no end ... those are terms saved for people who are familiar to you.
Her accent sounds more southern so my guess is she's not from Spokane originally. She has the Southern Manners.
it's all about respect
With all the people bothering her its amazing how she stays focused, and still is very nice and polite! How the heck does she do it?
Congratulations on eating the entire steak. Back in the '70s, my brother and I were in Portland, OR, and ate 64 oz steaks. After we were done, we went bowling for several hours and then out for pizza. I can't eat like that anymore.

That was an impressive food baby you had afterward. In fact, everything about your performance was impressive. Great job!
