After hours of digging I came across a blog that gave me hope. I tried it and it works. Simply set up your plane like you would without Kopilot, unplug the four cables, A,T,E,R, from your receiver and plug them into the Kopilot. Leave the left aileron plugged into Aux1 of your receiver. Leave your flap & crow mixes alone. Add your SBUS or PWM wiring and program as per instructions. When your Kopilot takes over in stabilize or RTH mode, only one aileron will be used by Kopilot but that is enough and works fine. I tested it in a stiff wind and it worked wonderfully!
I thought you gave excellent directions but I got lost with the obvious: It's important to set up & mix your plane without the Kopilot 1st. I use a spektrum transmitter where you assign channels not by number but by description, ie: throttle to throttle, right aileron to right aileron etc. I kept looking for channel 1,2,3 etc. like your video shows.
Might need to mention in your comments that the 2 sticks down and inwards for Neutral Calibration does not always work--Mine was both sticks down and to the Left...[maybe because I changed the wires in the PWM plug to suit Spektrum--Some people just change the channel allocation in the radio]
Thanks for another great review. One thing for those who are worried about the RTH altitude being too low (some are bagging it on RCG) that in actual flight the RTH is very rarely needed to return the plane all the way home under normal circumstances. Most people want and use it as a navigation safety net, so in the case of getting lost or hitting failsafe the plane immediately turns back for home. In that scenario, as it does not instantly plummet down to 70 metres, you can simply resume control once the Kopilot has pointed you in the direction home and with closing distance, either switch back to control, or your failsafe should soon recover and you can maintain your current altitude until you find your way back to known territory. It's not the end of the world with it being 70m. Cheers.
Ok, I never have any luck with controllers or most electronics on fpv planes, BUT I then, thanks to you and your thorough tutorial videos I discovered the ZOHD Kopilot, did not expect much till I tested it in the field, WOW it works fantastic and so reliable. The stable mode handles windy conditions and gusts so well. All my gliders will now have one installed. Thanks so much!
If you want to keep Crow on your glider, assign the L aileron to the receiver (not the Kopilot) and let the Kopilot use only the R aileron. This works fine. You may have to trim it a little but balance & RTH work fine with one aileron. You do this by not using a Y cable but running separate leads to each aileron. Look up adding Crow on RUclips for more help there.
I did the maiden flight of my ZOHD drift with Kopilot yesterday! First plane I've flown that didn't go home in a bag. LOL. All my preflight setup and checks I missed setting the gain pots to 50%, they were at 100% and the plane looked like a dolphin porpoising through the sky. At 50% it was stable but responsive. I also realized with autolaunch, I give it 70-80% throttle and just chuck it, as its climbing and picking up speed I can reduce the throttle to 0%, it climbs to a couple hundred feet and happily circles. If I leave the throttle gimbal at 70-80% it seams to "add" that input to the flight controllers throttle signal and the motor appear to be running max speed which reduces stability and responsiveness.
My "2 sticks down and in" calibration issue was caused by the fact that there were rate and expo settings in my transmitter. The instructions told me this but I didn't listen. The minute I returned them to 100% everything set like it should. Then just go back and set them where you want them. Maybe you could create another flight mode without rates just for cal.
I ordered a Dart250G and a Kopilot/VC400 kit for another plane, based on your last video and past experience with ZOHD. Can't wait until they arrive. I think the simplicity of use is a great thing with the re-assurance of return to home when out exploring with long-time flying craft such as nano-talot, orbit etc. I'm sticking with a basic volantex x-pilot for close range park flyers :)
Hi Lee I have 2 zohd kopilots and they both seem to suffer from the same problem .When you disconnect the control panel with the pots and set button on it all the moving surfaces controlled by the kopilot move in the reverse direction ,as soon as you plug it back in everything goes back to normal . the kopilot functions perfectly with the control pad hooked up and left in the plane ,return to home works perfectly stabilization and manual modes work perfectly also . This has me totally baffled . Any ideas ? Thanks Geoff
Awsome video as usual ..there is somthing you might want to be aware of ,not all esc are going to want to play ball with this kopilot lite..I was trying to get it to work with one of those generic yellow 30amp bangood esc, nope not happening 4 hr later ,i popped another esc in and bingo working as it should..it was very confusing because everything worked with the generic one just no throttle ,yes it was calibrated and did work when pluged straight into the rx,just not when pluged into the kopilot.any how just throwing this out there,if you find kopilot is acting strange with no throttle save yourself some frustration and try another esc of a different make.
Thanks for the video. Always helpful. Sometimes I get the feeling that fixed wing hobbyists want to limit newbies. Multi rotor tech flight control tech has outpaced fixed wing which has existed much longer. This is a great system that tries to close that gap, but hopefully we’ll see more.

Hello, great video-thank you very much. Would you happen to know how One might configure flapperons with kopilot? Given you cant have mixes on your radio with kopilot, I’m a little confused on how I might set them up. Btw I have a regular t-tail with rudder, elevator, ailerons (2 servos on y splitter) and use a fly sky 6x radio. Thanks in advance.
best question was the Kopilote lite needs a big(ger) brother ... I got one now with VC400 and nano talon evo that I have to build to gether these days.
Bought a kopilot, what an easy install, thanks. One question on RTH on frsky receiver if I lose signal how will it activate RTH? How do I set the failsafe? Any setting on my Taranis that also need to be done?
In model setup, select failsafe and put your three position switch channel to -100 then save. To prove it has worked, setup on the ground and while in manual (no LED) or stabilise (Solid LED) mode, turn off your tx. The LED should blink indicating RTH mode. Good luck, especially in the air.
Please see this video - ruclips.net/video/P4soR6QgOk0/видео.html - that should help you find those videos of mine and help you find the answers you need quickly
Thanks for the informative video, as usual very well presented easy to understand. I hope you can help me with a problem I am having with my new Kopilot Lite autopilot system. I have it installed in a flying wing and set up via sbus from my RX. I am unable to set up the Neutral Calibration by the sticks on my mode 2 Taranis TX. Nothing happens with the LED lights. No flashing. I was in stabilised mode as per the manual. The radio calibration was successful though. All other functions and set up is correct and working. Many thanks Mike
I'm confused about how the Kopilot and the servos get their power? It seems the only input comes from the sbus (or ppm) receiver connection. I'm surprised the small (20ga) receiver wires can handle the potential draw of the high power servos.
I know this system is made for fixed wing units but I want to put you outside of the box and know if I could use it on an RC boat. I'm not talking about a speed boat, I'm talking about the kind fishermen use for deploying baits and chumming. (Carp fishing) I want to be able to deploy larger baits long distances in the surf and when it's done dropping the bait or chum, simply return to where I launched from. I saw one a long time ago called the KON TIKI (I think) I want mine to be large (3ft long X 18" wide +/- & 12v) with a troll motor for propulsion. Heck it could be like a submarine too. Waypoints would be awesome! Thanks in advance! Manuel Z
Thank you, great information. You answered most of my questions as well :-) However, I have one additional question. what type of planes it is suitable or not - those twin motor planes with differential thrust to provide a rudder control effect. Because, I also learned that, when using the Kopilot, we are not supposed to use the TX mixing configuration; so how could I setup the differential thrust, that can working together with Kopilot? Or, it is not suitable at all. Appreciate your comment and feedback. Thank you.
You seem to be saying that the return to home is not triggered when out of range therefore we should set the switch for RTH modes in failsafe to return to home. Fair enough, but what about the failsafe settings for the other surfaces I normally use slight up elevator throttle off and slight left turn. Should I put no Fail-Safe on these surfaces and throttle?
I have a question. Does the Kopilot re level on each power up based on where you set it on each power up? or can you level it on the bench and it will save that information? Thanks for your time and work.
Hello there, thanks for the videos! I have been having some trouble with one of my kopilots, the gyro mid flight seems to « correct » the airmlane in a BAD position and the aircraft becomes extremely unstable... I tried de calibrate the system again but still the same problem. Any ideas?! You seem the guy to go to!! Thanks in advance!
Can the Kopilot unit be used without setting Failsafe. My radio (FrSky QX7 using ERSkytx) does not seem to have Failsafe set via the t/x. At least I can not find it any where in the t/x menu. I have previously set up a Kopilot with a FlySky i6 t/x and it works OK, even being able to set up failsafe.
good video, but i have a question nano talon evo with ko-pilot and flysky I6x do i set up a v tail mix on radio or does KP do all that even in manual mode?
Hi Lee! How many volts could this Kopilot handle? For example if i run my RX with 6V, 7.5V or so... or if I want to use servos on 6.5V or even 7V... Do you know what I mean..? I did not find this BASIC info anywhere. Cold you help please?
Hi there ! Another great video - thanks ! Can you help me with my Spektrum 6i please ? It has no 3 way switches so will I be able to configure the Zohd unit using a 2 way switch ? I don’t need Manual mode - just RTH & Stabilised modes. Kind Regards - Eddie.
Even though I use Frsky I use TAER order as the default. Probably a hangover of my Spektrum days. If I connect via an frsky SBUS receiver do I have to use AETR?
Hello, I am doing well with that controller, one question, when I raise the plane to 300 meters and I put RTH the plane returns but it lowers the programmed by the manufacturer a lot, what would happen if we put the elevator directly to the receiver without connecting it to the controller card? Do you think it maintains the height at which it was flying?
I've got one, but the plane I plan to stick it in hasn't yet arrived. The manual says you can use the RTH as a "launch Mode" by flicking it to RTH and tossing it. When the GPS senses 4+ kph it kicks on the throttle, climbs to the preset altitue and circles. At least that's what ir says it will do ... Have you tried that yet?
Hi very helpful video but i am still unsure how the RTH function works, is it on a separated channel or on the three position switch you set up on channel 5 ?
what happens when you loose transmitter signal (out of range)? does it sutomaticly return to me? or does it keep doing its last input? i know theres a failsafe, but i cant return to home from that. and if the plane is out of range, i cant TELL it to RTH, until I get that signal back...
If you are using a flight controller like this or some other one. Does it make sense to use maximum throw on the servos/control surfaces wherever possible as it might provide more control at lower speed?
@@Painless360 Might not be correct there! If you have the RTH/RAD pot set to a Fence Distance rather than RTH, when you are inside the Fence circle you are effectively in Stabilized mode in the -100 ch5 position so the throttle will be active when you have GPS lock. No autolaunch! 😜
hi, i would appreciate any help here... i am setting up a nano talon from it's standard flight stabilizer to a zohd kopilot + micro minimOSD + Antenna Tracker and i am having quite some issues with the GPS as far as i know, gps hast TX and RX that goes to RX and TX respectively on the flight controller.. if no other electronics were on the way would by simple -but i like things complicated- my question comes in two stages, the first is that the gps takes quite some time to fix and if it is connected to the osd seems to take longer, would there be any problems? the connections GPS-Kopilot is with RX/TX and for the OSD and the onboard tracking module only GPS-TX to RXs second question... can i connect to the gps RX port two TX wires (from Kopilot and OSD)? or the OSD does not need to have its TX port connected? thanks
Can you explain what fence mode is and what does RAD stand for? (in the Kopilot lite docs it says "fence mode (RAD)". I have tried emailing ZOHD but no response. Thanks.
Hi, I have a question that i can't get an answer anyware. Can I install a kopilot upside down? I have a vintage ultra sport 1000 plane (low wing) and if I install it the right side up I will not be able to see the LED status lights (need it for GPS lock). Can you help?
How do I separate my aileron inputs so I can avoid using a Y cable on my ailerons? I want to mix in crow and need to separate them. I have a Spektrum 8 channel transmitter and a 7 channel receiver, no sbus but PWM only. Thanks, Craig
Hi, just a quick question, I have a parrot Disco flying wing which met a tree at almost full speed and killed the Chuck ( flying computer thing) would the ZOHD Kopilot be a good replacement for it, ie would it work with the inbuilt servo's etc? thanks in advance, cheers Paul.
@Painless360 One question I can't find an answer for. The RTH attitude is 70m, if I fly to say 150m high in manual mode and switch to RTH will it decend to 70m on its own or just circle at 150m?
Would you know how to calibrate the esc while using the kopilot? Is it still needed or the fc will take care of it? It seems i cant perform an esc calibration when kopilot is installed.
Late question, Can I add expo and change rates using the middle (manual) switch position? alternatively, can I set rates at lower the 100 and add expo in all positions? This is an old site but I hope I get an answer from anyone.
@@Painless360 thanks. Just maidened on 250g and on balance mode the elevons barely move. I couldn't get it to turn. Nose dived and smashed the front off.
Hello! Can I only use the RTH function, without any stabilization made? Also, can this RTH mode be done additionally, as an extention to an existing stabilizer module (ie HOBBYEAGLE)? Thank you.
You can go from manual mode onto RTH and not use the stabilise function... I wouldn't cascade stabilisers. They are not designed to work that way.. Happy flying!
Hey I know you basically answered the question about multi engines, but I just wanted to clarify my guillows b17 build will not work with this correct? 4 engine and esc with ubec. Iv plugged it in and it seems weird and I have strange throttle action
This is a basic stabiliser and wasn't designed with multi motors in mind. I'm not aware of any stabilisers that have that ability but I wouldn't be surprised if someone, somewhere has made something.. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 im just wondering, as my escs are all connected together so there is only one throttle connection into the stabilizer, why it wouldn't just behave as I can connect my system 100% according the zohd instructions. Only difference is I get power to the rx through a ubec
I am really just looking for stable flights for bomb runs, so the return to home and all that isn't necessarily important, there's no differential thrust so I guess just don't understand the incompatibility
I have a question. My gps smoked. I am ordering a replacement from Banggood. I was trying to calibrate level using the sticks to bottom and center while in stabilized mode and it will not calibrate. I have tried it with two different radios. My question is does the gps module need to be installed for this procedure to work?
@@Painless360 I am using a brand new openTX radio. When the plane is in stability mode it currently wants to bank. Are you saying that I should trim out the radio while in stability mode to make it level on the radio or try to trim it with offset in mixer or inputs. ?
@@Painless360 I know how to do the setup, and went through your videos the first time before the gps stopped working. That was the reason for the question. I have ordered a whole new one. It will not allow me to calibrate level no matter how many videos that I watch, and doing the procedure exactly as instructed by you and a half dozen others. It never flashes when I put the sticks to bottom and inward and continues to want to bank to the left even though the plane is totally level. It must have shorted something and has cost me an entire flying wing already. That is the reason for recalibrating level because I had to build a whole new wing after the gps shorted and sent the plane into the ground. Thanks for all the help!
Can you configure the rth on a switch on the taranis? Also if it goes into rth can you over ride it back to manual control and how do you do that thanks
Having trouble with my kopilot. It doesn't work with esc which is 5volt. If plug in a 6volt power source into the throttle port everything works fine. If i plug any power less than 5.5 volts it doesn't work. Can you help. Wally
When the receiver goes into Failsafe, the receiver will output what you set it to. Thats why you must set it to output the Mode SW into RTH. otherwise it will not return home. The Kopilot doesn't sense sBus No Signal etc.
Perhaps Ceillian means the Tx Mode not the Stabilization Mode. The transmitter Mode (1 or 2 - with throttle on right or left) won't make any difference to the Level Calibration stick positions. However you should note that if you have to re-arrange your Tx mapping or re-order the PWM wires to the Kopilot to get the required A, E, T, R, Mode Switch order, sometimes the stick positions required are altered. It will always be 1 of the 8 possible stick combinations - throttle stick down and in or out plus the other stick to 1 of the 4 corners. Try each holding for 3+ secs till you get the blinking lights. (Stabilized Mode selected.)
I can fly it fine in manual mode every time I put it in return to home or stay ability mode the plane shoots up nose goes up and it tries to climb and that's all it does what am I doing wrong
I have the opposite problem. Flies great in Stabilise mode and RTH but immediately nose dives towards the ground when I switch to manual mode. My friend who setup his plane independently has the same problem. Pretty sure I did the level calibration correctly.
Question : I just set it up in my new Dart250 and while I had to dial down the rates in manual mode, switching to stabilize mode makes the plane completely anemic, even with rates at 100%. Any suggestions on how to change this, or is it by design??
@@Painless360 Thanks for the quick answer! Not sure I expressed myself clearly : my problem is not in manual mode. I've setup a 60% rate and it's fine. It's when I switch to Stabilize mode that, even with rates at 100%, the model is really sluggish and will only allow a very large turn radius...
@@jacquesmaries2324 I have the same problem. Almost no control when in stab mode. I guess I'll have to program higher rates (weight on frsky Q7) when in stab mode. Did you find a solutuon ?

Bought a kopilot, what an easy install, thanks. One question on RTH on frsky receiver if I lose signal how will it activate RTH? How do I set the failsafe? Any setting on my Taranis that also need to be done?
Video just up on the channel that should help with that.. Best of luck!
In model setup, select failsafe and put your three position switch channel to -100 then save. To prove it has worked, setup on the ground and while in manual (no LED) or stabilise (Solid LED) mode, turn off your tx. The LED should blink indicating RTH mode. Good luck, especially in the air.
Can you show how to set a taranis failsafe to trigger the failsafe?
Already done see my Failsafe video.. Happy flying
Painless360 what play list is it under?
Many thanks
Mike
Please see the video on that in the playlist...
@@Painless360 Many thanks. Missed this video somehow. Problem solved, my stick throws were not enough. Never thought of that.
I'm confused about how the Kopilot and the servos get their power? It seems the only input comes from the sbus (or ppm) receiver connection. I'm surprised the small (20ga) receiver wires can handle the potential draw of the high power servos.
5v comes from the ESC connection as it does with a reciever.. Happy and
I know this system is made for fixed wing units but I want to put you outside of the box and know if I could use it on an RC boat.
I'm not talking about a speed boat, I'm talking about the kind fishermen use for deploying baits and chumming. (Carp fishing)
I want to be able to deploy larger baits long distances in the surf and when it's done dropping the bait or chum, simply return to where I launched from. I saw one a long time ago called the KON TIKI (I think)
I want mine to be large (3ft long X 18" wide +/- & 12v) with a troll motor for propulsion.
Heck it could be like a submarine too. Waypoints would be awesome!
Thanks in advance!
Manuel Z
It don't think that would work, there are boat setups in the Ardupilot project so I'd look there. Best of luck!
Nice video. Can kopilot support flaps on a 4 channel fixed wing?
No, best of luck
Thank you, great information. You answered most of my questions as well :-)
However, I have one additional question. what type of planes it is suitable or not - those twin motor planes with differential thrust to provide a rudder control effect.
Because, I also learned that, when using the Kopilot, we are not supposed to use the TX mixing configuration; so how could I setup the differential thrust, that can working together with Kopilot?
Or, it is not suitable at all.
Appreciate your comment and feedback.
Thank you.
It only has one throttle out so not ideal for twin engines...
When RTH is triggered it'll fly itself, irrespective of the other control positions.. Happy flying!
I have a question. Does the Kopilot re level on each power up based on where you set it on each power up? or can you level it on the bench and it will save that information? Thanks for your time and work.
It is saved.
Hi. Thanks for all Your videos!! One question - Is it working as autolevel as well? Or stabilizer only? Thanks.
I wouldn't fly without a failsafe, that is how flyaways happen. Best of luck..
good video, but i have a question nano talon evo with ko-pilot and flysky I6x do i set up a v tail mix on radio or does KP do all that even in manual mode?
Check out the setup video where I show all of the steps. All of the mixing for the model is done on the Kopilot.. Happy flying!
Hi Lee! How many volts could this Kopilot handle? For example if i run my RX with 6V, 7.5V or so... or if I want to use servos on 6.5V or even 7V... Do you know what I mean..? I did not find this BASIC info anywhere. Cold you help please?
I've always run them on 5v here. The fact that they don't mention other voltages is a good indication that it isn't supported. Best of luck!
Two position switch will select RTH/launch or stabilised... Best of luck
@@Painless360 Many thanks for quick reply Buddy - most helpful 👍
Even though I use Frsky I use TAER order as the default. Probably a hangover of my Spektrum days. If I connect via an frsky SBUS receiver do I have to use AETR?
Yes, see the playlist for a video on that ... best of luck!
@@Painless360 Thanks. Found my answer in ruclips.net/video/qAAFfnQBlK0/видео.html Perhaps its time I changed to a default of AETR.
Glad you found it. Lots of stuff on the channel and in those playlists.. Happy flying!
Trying to make it work with Spektrum....
If the normal rx is pwm or sbus (as covered in the video) it'll work.. best of luck !
I've never tried but I would guess that wouldn't work very well. Best of luck with it.
Awesome reviews on this piece! Very helpful! Can it work with graupner receivers?? Hott GR-12L
If it talks sbus..
@@Painless360Thanks for the speedy reply!I know they support SUMD ..... not sure of SBUS, I will get a look at the manual on a break. Thanks again👍
I'll be making a video on that.. stay in!
Hi very helpful video but i am still unsure how the RTH function works, is it on a separated channel or on the three position switch you set up on channel 5 ?
It is on CH5. Launch/RTH, manual and stabilise... Happy flying
@@Painless360 Perfect thank you for taking the time to answer my message.
what happens when you loose transmitter signal (out of range)? does it sutomaticly return to me? or does it keep doing its last input? i know theres a failsafe, but i cant return to home from that. and if the plane is out of range, i cant TELL it to RTH, until I get that signal back...
See my video on setting Failsafe. I'd always set the Failsafe for rtf
If you are using a flight controller like this or some other one. Does it make sense to use maximum throw on the servos/control surfaces wherever possible as it might provide more control at lower speed?
I don't limit throw in the same way with an FC. Only make sure the servo can't be overdriven..
@@Painless360 interesting, thanks!
I'd like to use it on an old easystar, will it work with rudder and elevator only?
wish BG took amex , no other vendor in the states has it.. guess use s8r and gps in open tx.. believe i saw a vid on that somewhere ,,
The SXR stabilisers are not great.. Nice idea but terrible implementation and no GPS mode.
@Painless360 will this work with Caddx / DJI Remote?
It should work fine with the DJI FPV controller as its sbus. Just watch the channel order.. Best of luck
Since "launch assist" requires the flight mode to be in RTL, does launch assist still work if the RAD/RTL pot is set to RAD? Thanks.
Should do. I've not used a Kopilot in anything but RTL setting here's.. Happy flying
Does this support TBS Crossfire?
Apologies if already addressed.
If you google 'crossfire kopilot painless360' you'll find my video all about it.. Happy flying!
hi, i would appreciate any help here...
i am setting up a nano talon from it's standard flight stabilizer to a zohd kopilot + micro minimOSD + Antenna Tracker and i am having quite some issues with the GPS
as far as i know, gps hast TX and RX that goes to RX and TX respectively on the flight controller.. if no other electronics were on the way would by simple -but i like things complicated-
my question comes in two stages, the first is that the gps takes quite some time to fix and if it is connected to the osd seems to take longer, would there be any problems? the connections GPS-Kopilot is with RX/TX and for the OSD and the onboard tracking module only GPS-TX to RXs
second question... can i connect to the gps RX port two TX wires (from Kopilot and OSD)? or the OSD does not need to have its TX port connected?
thanks
Not sure. I've never setup something like this. Best of luck
Another excellent follow-up video.
Thanks for all the information and help 👍!
Can you setup the flight modes on a 2 position switch with stabilized & RTH? Trying to help a new flyer and he doesn't have a 3 position switch.
Depends on the radio. I have videos in the Opentx mix school series... Happy flying
Fantastic, Lee! Thanks a lot! 😊
Can you explain what fence mode is and what does RAD stand for? (in the Kopilot lite docs it says "fence mode (RAD)". I have tried emailing ZOHD but no response. Thanks.
Stops you from flying too far away. I'm guessing rad =radius... Happy flying
I have one of these but can only get it to work with S bus, PWM not working for some reason, any ideas please, cheers, Les.
No idea, what troubleshooting have you tried?
Hi, I have a question that i can't get an answer anyware. Can I install a kopilot upside down? I have a vintage ultra sport 1000 plane (low wing) and if I install it the right side up I will not be able to see the LED status lights (need it for GPS lock).
Can you help?
Nope, you can't.
In its RTH or Geo Fencing modes I have no throttle before launch. Is that natural for the Kopilot?
Check the playlist.. The next video will answer the questions..

Almost anything would work. You'd have to re-wire the servos. I'd look at an Omnibus build (see my Arduplane/Omnibus series) or a KoPilot..

@Painless360 One question I can't find an answer for. The RTH attitude is 70m, if I fly to say 150m high in manual mode and switch to RTH will it decend to 70m on its own or just circle at 150m?
From what I've seen it'll descend to the RTH height. Best of luck

Would you know how to calibrate the esc while using the kopilot? Is it still needed or the fc will take care of it? It seems i cant perform an esc calibration when kopilot is installed.
I'd calibrate it using the receiver and then connect it through the KoPilot.. Best of luck!

Hello! Can I only use the RTH function, without any stabilization made? Also, can this RTH mode be done additionally, as an extention to an existing stabilizer module (ie HOBBYEAGLE)?

Hey I know you basically answered the question about multi engines, but I just wanted to clarify my guillows b17 build will not work with this correct? 4 engine and esc with ubec. Iv plugged it in and it seems weird and I have strange throttle action
Also do you know of any stabilizers that would work with a 4 engine bomber?
Then that should work.. Best
Hello Lee, If I use Kopilot sbus with Frsky X8R, can I use any of the 8 PWM channels or am I limited to the one aux channel on the Kopilot?
The KoPilot only needs 5 channels so you can use the other 3 for whatever you want (use the PWM outputs)..
@@Painless360 Thanks for the speedy reply, I'm putting it together in the garage.
does Kopilot have GPS telemetry in case you crash so you know where to go to recover your plane?
No
Mine won't arm in stabilised mode. I've calibrated the ESC in manual mode and the motor will spin. Is it faulty?
Have you done the calibration andradio calibration? I noticed I had same issue until I re-calibrated both radio and kopilot

I have a question. My gps smoked. I am ordering a replacement from Banggood. I was trying to calibrate level using the sticks to bottom and center while in stabilized mode and it will not calibrate. I have tried it with two different radios. My question is does the gps module need to be installed for this procedure to work?
I'd calibrate the ESC directly from the receiver if possible...
@@Painless360 I am using a brand new openTX radio. When the plane is in stability mode it currently wants to bank. Are you saying that I should trim out the radio while in stability mode to make it level on the radio or try to trim it with offset in mixer or inputs. ?
Please see the setup video i did for this thing. I cover all of the steps there.. Hope it helps..

How do you rate the NX3 gyro unit from Bangood really cheap but is it good
I've not used that one.. Happy flying
when i am in rth mode the nano talon goes full up elevator and the ailerons are a bit jiggly, any thoughts?
It'd an emergency mode designed to try and get your model back. There are set PIDs for RTH do it won't be perfect for sone models. Happy flying .
When you have a failsafe will it automatically switch to return to home?
Yes. Use SBUS and it will work fine. Best of luck
When the receiver goes into Failsafe, the receiver will output what you set it to. Thats why you must set it to output the Mode SW into RTH. otherwise it will not return home.
The Kopilot doesn't sense sBus No Signal etc.
Can the kopilot be used with a flysky fs-i6 controller and receiver?
If it has pwm or sbus output, then yes (see last video inav playlist)...
Does it self level the model if you let go of the sticks ?
In STAB Mode yes it does.
Mine is in Mode 1 for the controller setup. I can't figure out how to get it to Mode 2 controller.
The KoPilot expects the channels in a very particular order, sounds like you need to change it on the radio so it's right.. Best of luck!
Great stuff, thanks for the video!
Will the Kopilot work with the Spektrum SPM4650?
Not sure. See my video on the common connections - I always an SBUS Rx here.. Best of luck!
I can fly it fine in manual mode every time I put it in return to home or stay ability mode the plane shoots up nose goes up and it tries to climb and that's all it does what am I doing wrong
Please see my setup guide. Sounds like the level isn't calibrated..
I have the opposite problem. Flies great in Stabilise mode and RTH but immediately nose dives towards the ground when I switch to manual mode. My friend who setup his plane independently has the same problem. Pretty sure I did the level calibration correctly.
Hi would this work on a gas/glow engine set up?
I've not tried it but it seems to be aimed at electric..
Question : I just set it up in my new Dart250 and while I had to dial down the rates in manual mode, switching to stabilize mode makes the plane completely anemic, even with rates at 100%. Any suggestions on how to change this, or is it by design??
You can have the rates only effect the 'manual' mode on the Tx by setting that up in OpenTX..
@@martincloutier1399 at the contrary, on two different planes so equipped, bank is too steep when on stab mode or RTH, and instead of circling in RTH, it turn alternatively one side to an other at high bank.
Does anybody know if the Kopilot will conflict with my Orbit RTF...will the 2 stabilizers conflict?
Only one stabiliser at once... You can't use two at the same time...
