Finally someone “yes you Lee” has read and understands the intent of this feature..
I’ve seen maybe 50 different ppl on yt autolaunching the plane using the “shake to wake” method that is rubbish. You’re the only guy who has been game enough to just throw it and let the min accel trigger it and after the set delay the motor takes off :) bravo

But how well does it work for wing tosses? Would it be better to “fake toss it” to get the motor started then toss from the wing of something that you can’t grip the bottom of?
think the purpose is to start the motor after it passes your hand (have some prop scars on my indexfinger :-p)
It only starts when it detects it's been thrown. Works on wings too...
This feature of the Kopilot is AWESOME!, I have done a whole 5000mah battery just landing and launching for fun its that good!.
I've done that before with a little 1/2a racer back in 78. After I found the plane I moved the on/ off switch away from my thumb. 1.5 hours of searching for my only RC gear at the time.
Very nice . However if you are placing throttle to 100 will it be flying at full tilt for the auto launch and it's loiter? or will it use the necessary rates to accomplish the tasks? Thanks painless and great video as always!!!

It takes quite awhile to start though, I tried it out today and had two hard crashes because of it.
Probably two bad throws, threw it at too steep of an angle or so, but I wish it should start as soon as it leaves your hand.
Had to launch it manually to get it in the air.
I hoped that they would have brought out an improved version of this by now as that delay can cause a 'nose in' on a bad throw, especially if the model is heavy. I use INAV for most of my larger, heavier models rather than Kopilot... Best of luck

@@Painless360 Yeah that’s one of the really good features of INAV; the ability to configure autolaunch to your heart’s content.
Lee, that work with your light weight ZOHD dart 635mm wing span model, in heavier one you need to give it a shake to activate the throttle. if the push is not strong enough, you will crash !!!

Ah that's great to hear! I had to hard crashes with my Zohd Evo today because it too a long time for the auto launch to kick off!

hi mate I have just installed my Zohd Kopilot lite and was wanting to use auto launch function,but Im not to sure how to set it up as the manual doesnt really explain in detail,I have set up a 3 way switch on channel 5 for stable mode manual mode and RTH mode,but when I have put it in RTH mode and the plane is connected to GPS the throttle works,but if Im going to use auto launch and I put the switch on to RTH mode the throttle shouldnt come on when I move the throttle stick,because I need to set the throttle to 80 to 100 percent,it should only come on when the plane has been launched and the flight controller senses the plane moving greater the 4 m/s,so im not sure what setting I need to change
Get a GPS lock, go into RTH mode and then chuck it.. See my video on it.. Best of luck

That is normal and useful way to check that you are in RTH/launch mode.
@@Painless360 Thanks for that. I also trimmed the plane in manual mode. Then put it I. stabilise mode and did the calibration. All 3 lights blinked then went back to solid. Re-powered the craft switched between manual and stabilised mode and the servos slightly move. Did it a couple of times. Does it mean it’s not saving the Trim settings? Thanks

I am new to rc planes .. I recently lost my first 500mm cub 500 only a £80 loss so a small lesson for going to high and far. I have bought a new plane FMS super ez V4 do you think this is a good feature to have for a beginner . I have also purchased a tracker unit from Vodaphone so I cannot lose this plane in theory Any advice greatly appreciated on the ZOHD
This ZOHD is not a replacement for making good choices about where to fly, the model to use and lots of practice on a simulator (where lost models and crashes are free). If you're new to this then check out this video - ruclips.net/video/OaKqAng-BVE/видео.html Best of luck!
Painless360 I have subscribed thanks for the reply 👍🏻 I have spent many hours and time on a sim and I was flying fine on both sim and in the real world . The truth is I went way way to high for to confident I think the battery died. I live on a farm in Gloucestershire I am lucky enough to have tons of space to fly. I was advised the super ez was a good plane it comes with a FMS gyro and I’m using a fsi6 x transmitter. I am not new to RC I have had cars for years I’m new to flying, I will watch all of your videos for a beginner and see how I get on setting up the plane I think is the hardest bit I can fly so to speak but just within my ability I need to remember I’m fresh . keep up the good work i will try figure the settings for this plane expo is critical for a beginner I’m thinking to soften the controls or is it with a gyro so many questions 🙈
yeah I just saw Andrew Newton's video yesterday and I was like how come you're the only person that's telling us about this feature why is it hidden?
I was the first to try it so have a lot of experience with it. The manual needs a re-write to make this feature clearer..
There's nothing hidden about it, as its shown clearly in the manual under Mode Description
I consider myself a very experienced RC flyer(20 years). I have many different types of planes, quads, helis. For the life of me, I cannot get this thing to launch using the zohd autopilot - many crashes- manual, stabilized, or RTH(I watched your videos for set up ect). I know this is limited info, has anyone else had this problem?
I'm in the middle of making an updated setup video on this thing as I had to talk a Patreon through the setup (who then the model maiden-ed perfectly).. Check out the playlist in the next few days..
