This song has a special place in my heart. First time I heard this the summer going into 8th grade. My Dad and I drove to South Carolina to visit my grandfather. I remember at some point during the drive I had passed out and woke up to my dad singing along as this played on the radio. My dad was always a pretty decent singer, but I remember he sounded great singing this song. I remember just watching him and admiring him so much. We had a really tough relationship for a long time but I moments like that reminded me how much I loved and admired my Dad. Nothing about the lyrics or anything else, but that memory will forever be attached to this song.

The first time I heard this song was in Huntsville Alabama at a club with some friends in probably 1975 or 76. I asked a beautiful blonde to dance and I listen to this song often because it’s a good memory.

Neat trivia: Did you know this song's vocals were recorded at the famous Caribou ranch (Elton John & Chicago) because Rod couldn't hit the notes high enough in the (sea level) LA studio? The 8000ft Colorado altitude allowed him to sing an octave higher. The original version is on his box set.
