My mother bought one new in 1968. Loved the mini basket for super small loads, really loved the filter on top of the agitator. Worked like a champ for years. Wish I could find one today.

Really good washers-but two things-the big rubber transmission boot can be pulled loose or torn if a very unbalanced load occurs-then when the machine tries to fill again, water just pours out onto the floor-also-if you change speeds with the machine running-it will break the clutch-it is okay to switch from Gentle to Normal-but never the other way around.
GE wouldn't be able to make them fast enough to keep up with the demand if they were to bring back the great filter flo! Govt. regulated he washers suck.
+Randy Hansen it has to do with the clutch. the older the machine got, the more hesitation on the clutch engaging. That is also the cause of that distinctive sound it makes before fully engaging. I could be fixed, but is probable not worth it because It does not harm the washer as far as I know, it is just they way it is made.
If I recall, this particular washer has three agitating speeds, if it had a ramp style agitator, it would be awesome. Does anyone think that GE will bring these washers back?
I wouldn't have thought so, even in the US aren't front loading tumble washers taking over due to the very low water / energy consumption? At least the top loader featured has a sealed inner drum that saves water (instead of it being like a colander). The original GE top loading automatic from 1947 could save the hot sudsy water for the next load, I'm not sure if this one does that ?
I know this is 9 years late but it is the left wing progressives that are pushing for all this "save mother Earth" crap. Don't matter what side of the aisle you are on.
GEs in this era were great working machines. My mom had the Sears Lady Kenmore back than. Another great machine which lasted for years. Had to replace it in June of 83 with a whirlpool. These GE s handled suds locks welll though the Sears machine not so much.

GREAT video for washing machine geeks everywhere! It's nice to see appliances be restored and reused. Thanks!
the best washer made... always loved the lint filter... helped with keeping lint off the clothes and dryer
Great washer a 1969,it's near my age im53now.🙂
the best washer ever... too bad GE doesn't make this type of quality now
Look at the power in that agitator and motor. None of today’s washers even come close to this water action.
Great washer,A 1969 it's near my age, im53now, this washer is doing great.
So gorgeous I wish I have something like this doing laundry with this washers seems very fun

I love aspects about this washer, but during the agitating stages I can't help but get anxiety over those towels being ripped apart. LOL
Para eso son las lavadoras se supone que no rompen la ropa.
Armstrong was on the moon in 1969. This washer lasted a long time
Best turnover I've seen in an agitator machine. Impressive. Equal to early Frigidaire action.
Nice Filter Flo!
We had one of these. Where is the filter ring that fits around the top of the agitator?

The BEST washing machine ever made - Todays Machines? = Complete Crap.

built to stay the GE way!
Una joya🤗😍
Why did GE washers start agitating more slowly for a few seconds when set on normal?
+Randy Hansen

Actually all of the 2 speed ge washer did this, there isn't anything wrong with the clutch. That is how they are designed.

I wish.
When washers were built, like tanks.

"That's giving the truck a good shake!" LOL!

Most Likely it's the Boot
Does this washer use springs or hooks for the inner tub to keep it balanced?
+Marshall H. (gatrwrks) springs
Are the springs in the tub?
+Marshall H. (gatrwrks) yes it is! underneath the tub
Well, they were inside the tub, and when thet fell off, the tub went off balance.
+Marshall H. (gatrwrks) oh i am not sure
That was fun thanks
this is so fab!
Simply stated......... They don't make appliances that sturdy and long lasting
anymore..........
I bet it works better now
***** I prefer Whirlpool products better

@ sSz
The new GE appliances are nothing but plastic JUNK! They don't make them like that anymore! Hope he got the (drip) fixed!!
too bad they don't make them like these anymore....
Probably The Tub Boot
I will make this in my Roblox studio
Why is it gentle agitation
💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Alguien me puede ayuda por favor. Tengo una y no se como iniciar a usar el panel de lavado.
What is the price
the motor is so quiet
f2394
r u selling it ? how much $ u want ? can u ship to me ?
Those towels weren't even moving. No turnover, just 'swish-over"
Just shut up and stop hating
It don’t gotta roll over to be cleaned
it's a shame where GE has gotten, i would / never buy a product from them again! RepupliCONS have done it in
I know this is 9 years late but it is the left wing progressives that are pushing for all this "save mother Earth" crap. Don't matter what side of the aisle you are on.
The new crap that is being made (that lasts about 5 years) is just downright poor.

Somebody's copying your video.
They would tear your clothes up if you weren't careful.
Will chew your clothes up though
Not really. Clothes were made a lot better when these machines were made....when our clothes as well as our appliances were made in the USA.
This is a bad washing machine
Why.
Nah
