That crazy about your dog. I was in my back yard on the porch smoking a cigarette and noticed something in my back yard that appeared look like an armadillo or something. This is Kentucky, no damn armadillos. Then he turned sideways and saw it was a little dog with no hair on his back side. He world let me get close, so I asked my wife or a kid to grab a pack of hotdogs from the fridge. Then i started throwing them towards him. At first, he thought I was trying to hit him until he realized it was food. 7 hotdogs later, he was eating them out of my hand. Well, that was 10 years later and he's still here.
👏👏 good on Trait & those that agree that posing questions & problems is not negativity. That what adults do. It’s part of the process. I’ve been telling y’all this for months now. Anyone telling y’all about negativity is either dumb, incompetent, childish or bought off/ paid for & wants you to shut up, enjoy the show & keep consuming. These folks want the status quo cuz they’re paid & can’t handle someone rocking the boat that someone else provided for them.

The entire fishing world was ALL IN when they showed up to a lake.......and fished. That format connected with 99% of the general public. And it was freaking awesome to watch these guys break things down and figure it out. That feeling is lost. HOWEVER....it's still fishing. And I still love watching. Just like I still love watching B.A.S.S
the feeling is lost because fishing is completely unaffordable to the vast majority.
I bought a new Skeeter this year, the price on basically the same boat went up over 36k$ (Canadian) in 4 years.
and that's just a boat. the cost to compete in the opens, tackle, rods, reels, hotels, a truck to haul it, fuel, the price of fishing is out of control.

I think the big elephant in the room with MLF and controversy is in the beginning it was sold as a no entry fee. Once they fed everyone that and then pulled it nothing has really improved.
World Wide is bigger than than the platform he fishes. MLF has stunted the growth of his brand. The only time I get to see James is on his Instagram or on a podcast. He could do more fishing The Opens or Toyotas.
It really sucks that Watsons gag order was in place before Trait got to grill him

This is the BEST podcast on the topic of bass tournament politics on RUclips, HANDS DOWN ! Obviously Watson has been recently reprimanded for telling the truth and he was somewhat more reserved than he has been on other recent podcast interviews he's done, but this was still a good interview. To give an "old fart" perspective on something Watson brought up; Watson suggested endemic sponsors preferred their endorsees fished BASS over FLW, and I think time will show they prefer their endorsees fishing BASS over BPT for the same reasons. I don't remember the year but Ray Scott wanted BASS anglers to advertise BASS's sponsors over their own personal sponsors. Winnings and exposure generated by BASS wasn't worth selling out their own endemic sponsors, so the anglers rebelled and threatened to boycott the classic if Scott continued and Scott backed down . The anglers banded together an refused to ignore their personal sponsors and endorse BASS's sponsors. Along comes Irwin Jacobs and FLW and his business plan included a bunch of non-endemic sponsor money into his circuit and this allowed Jacobs to offer considerably larger payouts than BASS at the time. Jacobs did the same thing as Ray Scott tried to do and forced anglers to promote "FLW" sponsors over their own and greed on the part of the anglers lead to the selling out of endemic sponsors. That left a bad taste in the mouth's of endemic sponsors towards FLW and rightly so, and after the economic crash in 2008 the endemics left and smaller endemic sponsors didn't want anything to do with FLW and who could blame them? We're seeing somethin similar happening to BPT right now, the economy is in the crapper, and the audience BPT is going after isn't buying high dollar endemic products like boats, trucks, electronics, etc... and non-endemic sponsors are bailing.
The family met Watson at Redcrest in Charlotte Nc and he was one of the 2 that offered to get down to get a picture with my kids before they could ask. Stand up guy hands down funny as hell enjoy watching em live. Calling it since day 1 💪 Hate i missed the live but enjoyed it.
MLF is doing James Watson dirty, Boyd Duckett is a spoiled baby in a position of authority and flexes his muscles to be the bully of MLF to anyone who gets in the way. FFS is going to be the down fall of MLF I am already sick of watching the "Pros" staring at display screens and throwing at a target.
James Watson "Worldwide" is such a class act. always a genuine, straight shooter. that's a rare commodity this day in age in bass fishing
I’m part of general public and I’d rather see folks like James speak the truth and expose the BS. Only way change can come. Set up a go fund me for James’s speak the truth fines 😂
It would have to be a very large gofundme at this point & a huge one if I were to say everything.
After watching this podcast I have a a greater appreciation for Chris and Trait. What they said about social media is spot on and the effects on our youth going forward are not going to be good for our society. I always enjoyed watching James and his no bullshit, straight shooting, fun loving personality. I now have a greater respect for him. I did not know he was a veteran and am proud to call him a brother. Anyone who writes a blank check for the sum of up to and including their life for their country elevates you to another level. I was disappointed to hear that he was only fishing another year. The MLF is not going down the tube because of James or most of the anglers. They had a format that worked and the viewers loved it. I no longer watch because of what it has become. James best of luck to you and I hope that we will continue to see you fishing for a long time.
I'm a big fan of these bilge podcasts. But I'm a bigger fan of Trait. She will say anything.
The reason the show was so great back in the day was how they would be walking you through in real time putting together patterns each day when they weren't prefishing, made it so information
It was even better to be in the boat with them and watch as they put the pattern together without any practice
No one is talking about the economy and how it will impact anglers. These big sponsors will be the first to pull money when money and times get tough. Next year is going to be a major challenge for people. 2007/08 repeat is coming but bigger.
We had a podcast lined up that would have dove into the boat market tightening up etc and how that affects everything. Bummed it didn’t get to happen
Yep something your hearing more and more from everyone is how tight money is right now.
Covid and the economy, are the two things no one is talking about,I agree. I got into fishing because of Covid. My kids and i were taking daily walks around a lake because there was nothing else to do. One day my oldest asks “do you think there is fish in the lake?” So we bought gear to find out. Now we’re all hooked, but when buying gear I did not turn to tournament fishing. I don’t know how all these equipment companies will be able to survive. How many have jumped on the reel and lure deal because of sales spiking? Boats forget about it, I can’t even afford a fishing kayak because of the price jumps. Now it’s going to crash because there’s no more Covid fluff money. I can’t even afford the budget rods I was buying three years ago now. Rods that were $115-120 at retail 3 years ago are now $170-$200. I don’t care what pros are fishing or fishing in, I look at companies warranties now. What price can I afford to be locked at for warranty rod replacement. I’ve kept to a two bait system so I can try different techniques. But after looking at next years projected prices for lures, it’s back to clearance bins and Walmart for me.
@farrzmd3038 everyone talks like this is just in the fishing industry. It's not, everyone's feeling the crunch. And also as a part of the general public I don't want pro anglers muzzled, if there's shady shit going on behind the scenes it needs to be known.

That's exactly what's wrong with Pro series in Canada , as I see it . Anglers focus on the immediate $ and not the big picture.
Yes its addictive… it is GAMBLING at the core its GAMBLING. Accept that and function on that premise and your WAY MORE SUCCESSFUL
James could start a podcast EASILY, I could drive down the road for hours and listen to this crazy nut talk about ANYTHING in the world, and then I'd get pissed off that I made it to my destination without the podcast being over 😂😂. He's got it.. whatever "IT" is... He's got it!!!✌️🤙

Documentary idea for Netflix: Deep cut coverage of the BASS - BPT - FLW split. With dramatic interviews, behind the scenes stuff, etc. Generate a huge buzz around bass fishing. All the juicy details no one knows about. And it ends with a happy ending of the two companies merging to form one superior bass fishing organization.

CAN'T WAIT ! THIS IS GONNA BE A GOOD OLE FASHION COME TO JESUS MEETING ! Now maybe everyone will understand that everything is controlled ! You don't get to be the top people in this sport and get paid to fish unless your chosen. Everyone else is just pawns ! They have to spend 80,000 to 120,000 a year in entry fee's and travel expenses, boat payments, and truck payments, insurance, food ! While people like Wheeler get paid big bucks to fish in contracts outside of the sport, and all his trucks, boats, fuel, are paid for ! WHO IS THE PROFESSIONAL FISHERMAN ! one is a gambler, and the other is a pro ! And when you go against the system and speak out they kick you to the curb, Boyd Duckett has a lot of power in the fishing industry, he can make a phone call and end James career ! When he did the last Pod cast he did the right thing by telling everyone how Boyd and Gary just ignored the Men coming together and starting a voice for the anglers, that's corruption, and that should show everyone how controlled fish is at that level. Everyone will have to walk away before it will get better ! GO JAMES WATSON !

Another great show, I know personally know how much it sucks to work a job you don't want to work. It is such a shame that the corporations have gained control of professional bass fishing (just like they have our Government ), looking forward to 2025 when the chains come off James.

best advice I have is this
the ball park in playing in is own by someone else then go build your own ball park....
Understand what you are saying. Premise is there. But understand, those who provide to the current ball parks, are the only ones in the game. They are all holding hands, and until there is a major shift with money it will be very difficult to add another ballpark to the tournament scene.
Everyone is playing for each others money, and thats the biggest issue at the Tour level. Its nothing more than poker on the water
James is a favorite for me and I think because he just reminds me of all my other brothers that I served with and from that standpoint he’s someone I could’ve wound up in a shit hole fighting for my life with and I love watching him his personality super awesome. I think he does a lot for the sport. And honestly I bet he moves more product than other fisherman however, from me personally, you guys don’t convince me to buy anything like I love the Village podcast but there’s never in 1 million years am I ever gonna go from Skeeter to Nitro? I’m sorry there’s no comparison you guys I watch you I will say this I will say this I will buy it I bought I buy the swim Bates because I use professional bass fishing as a tool for me as an amateur angler to learn how to catch better fish, and that I love and I love the fact that I’m not watching somebody’s scope do because I promise you I have a buddy of mine he doesn’t fish at all and I can put him out there on a Garmin and he can fish and Ned and put 40 fish in the boat but honestly that’s kind of like buying women on only fans, and then coaching men on how to meet girls, you knowit it it loses the magic anyway I’m getting distracted. I just want to say I think Watson is super awesome and when MLF loses him they’re messing up.
Good point about Chad. Chad is exactly what an announcer should be - an announcer first with a world-class voice and delivery. You can teach the subject matter, you can't teach the God-given talent. Tommy is the same way on the BASS side. Whats unfortunate is BASS seems to be grooming Ronnie Moore to take the job when Tommy/Zona hang it up, which would be disastrous for their product. The kid cant talk with stuttering or going on a weird run-on sentence. Cringe every time he speaks. Hopefully not the case, but BASS needs to seriously consider a change in plans or keep Ronnie as an analyst/reporter.

That may be the most popular idea for someone to develop, if MLF doesn't have some sort of copyright/intellectual property hold on it.
Set up a Cup/select style series where people get a schedule of dates to hold and that's it. Then they get a text on a Monday saying be at this ramp on this lake on Friday and they go get after it with no practice and minimal info. As pure as it gets in todays environment.

One of the best thing about the cups too was that there was no practice and we got to watch the anglers break down a completely new body of water
First time I ever met JW I was outside the expo at the Houston Bassmaster early in the morning waiting for everything to open. He had forgot his credentials and security wouldn’t let him in even though his friends tried to vouch for him being one of the premier co-anglersFinally someone was able to get him past security. But it was hilarious. Evidently security wasn’t a JMFW fan. Good Luck and I look forward watching you fish and interviews.

Bass vs MLF is the most corny sh*t ever in bass fishing. The more fishing to watch for me the better. Btw, 7 of the top 10 anglers in the world were MLF pros on bassfan at the end of last year.
MLF is owned by the same group that owns Bassfan. The algo is weighted towards MLF anglers. Their rankings are the laughing stock of the industry

I got to admit I wasn't a big fan of Watson when he frist hit the scene. I thought he was to much of a smart ass but as I have watched him on a few pod casts I was wrong I like the guy now. He tells it as he sees it and I like that.

To anyone who down plays FFS or believes it doesnt help you catch more fish, one question if it does t work that good and doesnt help why are people spending thousands on it.
Random comment idea what if mlf and b.a.s.s at the end of the year took their top ten guys from a.o.y. standings and did bass vs. Mlf and make it a annual event i think that would help with growth and brand Loyalty
Who is going to pay for it? Bass isn’t going to fund / advertise something that involves anglers from a league that tried to demolish it.
Absouletly fair didnt Necessarily think about the bitter feelings and the likely hood of both organization working together is slim

It would have to me paid for and advertise by both groups and prize for the organzation would be basically be bragging rights for a hear that they are the superoir organization
