They tried to sweep Sprague under the rug and got caught. Now they act like nothing happened. Bottom line is the organization is just as crooked as he is.
There are great people within the organization. I can speak to that. Known them for a long time. Some of the ones with the broom are no longer there for sweeping. Why I’ll be interested to see how this one plays out
Since it’s catch weigh and release they aught to stop fishing during the spawn and start fishing lakes that are past the spawn. I think it would be better to see more fall and early winter tournaments.

i was fortunate enough to be a boat official with James at Douglas/Cherokee and then at Guntersville. Wonderful time. Great guy, straight arrow. Knows the rules and follows them. If the anglers are found to be even in the gray area of the rules they should be immediately banned from fishing. they should be made to re qualify if they can come back. Tired of hearing this cheating. deal with it. and deal with it harshly. Both tournaments i was an official on i say no infractions, my anglers were above boards and made sure to follow the rules and went the extra mile to show that they did. it just goes to show that a very small percentage ruin it for everyone.

Seriously, you brought up two weeks in row the need to have bass media outlets and tournaments talk more about the penalties, infractions, and possible punishments. I think you are right, on both the need and reasons why it doesn't happen, but I think it starts with podcasts like yours and other fishermen in the sport pushing for more openness. So I think you, and others like you, will help this happen. I have a lot reasons why I think it will take guys like yourself to continue and others to join in, but I will not waste anymore of your of time. Thanks for the show. Great Topic. The growing part is hard when MLF or Tournaments Organizations charge so much to join to fish. A year membership for $75 - $95 is a bit much plus the tournament fee to fish. Like you guys say its all about money anymore.
It’s Crazy now how many ( pro ) anglers there are. Things are getting out of hand in our beloved sport. I believe it needs simplified. Infractions = being band period shit needs cleaned up. I love fishing I live for week day Tuesday Wednesday nighters and opens when I can afford them and have the time off. The fact that cheating is held at such a low regard these days is Sickening. The major channels and tour promotion, and production agencies, don’t want a black eye so they keep it hush hush. Well I think the overall community and fans are at a point of disgust. I think most people, myself included, would adhere to rules I know for any fishing contest that exist. A cheater won't pay attention to anything that can't be seen.
If your in suspicions of cheating or guilty . You should have to sit out next upcoming event if they are close together pending investigation and legal action if needed if the next event is a ways off and you have since been found innocent or guilty and served your punishment. Then you should be back eligible for the next event .

How this "league" is even a thing at this point is absolutely beyond me. Once upon a time ago, people cheated the casino by taping a string to a quarter and reusing it to win money from their slot machines. Now they're doing it with fishing line and the same fish! LOL Sheesh!!!
Been a BM Marshall a few times and too put them in a position to look the other way is just not right... This last time I was with an angler and actually told him please do not go fishing in there cause I do not want to report you. He apolized and backed off.

The officials are just as much at fault as the anglers. They shouldn't be weighing fish they didn't validate were hooked in the mouth. The officials knew some of those were caught twice based on the location and weight. Fact is the boat officials are volunteer fans who are just there to weigh fish and call the obvious. Officials should be held accountable as well. Kick em out if they can't officiate to the rule book.

Let’s face it. It’s a hobby for most of these guys. That’s why they pushed so hard to NOT fish in the fall. They want to hunt. Fine, but are you a “pro” angler or a “pro” hunter? They should have to fish spring through fall if they really consider themselves “pro” fishermen.
I'm gonna guess when it comes to sight fishing there is a lot of accidentally foul hooked fish that are weighed in , in all circuits of fishing not all people are honest and there was some fishy no pun attended stuff that went on at Cayuga
I don’t understand why it is so hard to get ahead of all this cheating. Simple if you get caught you get kicked out. Everyone wants to “ grow the sport” you don’t have a sport without rules. They are going to destroy the sport before it gets grown. Sounds like the people “ growing the sport” are a bunch of liars and crooks. Just have some morals and integrity and do it right. They are teaching these young anglers that is doesn’t matter about rules just do whatever it takes to make money. Think the organization that takes the integrity of the sport for real and steps up and does it the right way will be the one that comes out on top.

I'm gonna guess when it comes to sight fishing there is a lot of accidentally foul hooked fish that are weighed in , in all circuits of fishing not all people are honest and there was some fishy no pun attended stuff that went on at Cayuga
Anyone from top to bottom if they are caught blatantly cheating they should be immediately dismissed from the trail period end of story.

I don’t understand why it is so hard to get ahead of all this cheating. Simple if you get caught you get kicked out. Everyone wants to “ grow the sport” you don’t have a sport without rules. They are going to destroy the sport before it gets grown. Sounds like the people “ growing the sport” are a bunch of liars and crooks. Just have some morals and integrity and do it right. They are teaching these young anglers that is doesn’t matter about rules just do whatever it takes to make money. Think the organization that takes the integrity of the sport for real and steps up and does it the right way will be the one that comes out on top.

It’s a shame “rules” are getting tighter and looked upon more because some jackass wants to ruin it for the rest of the honest field. MLF is the “Days of our lives” in the fishing industry.
This year, BASS has been the “days of our lives”. They both have lots of drama though.
