Honest and open viewpoint on the fishing industry. There are those social media personalities in fishing that preach about what’s wrong in the industry and that they’re somehow morally superior to other anglers. But when you look at who they advertise for and let sponsor their videos they are as much part of cashing in on that part of the industry that they’re complaining about. It’s interesting to hear what all goes on behind the scenes that most of us never hear about.

I'm in Weatherford, tx. Im 44 and I got addicted to Googan videos because they were all googans (until they added lfg), don't get me wrong I can catch them but I'm a googan. Think about this, when you were a kid, did you watch Bill dance and Jimmy Houston to see them use the same spinnerbaits and crankbait or did you watch to see if Bill would set the hook more then 5 second after you saw it on TV, or did you watch Jimmy to hear him talk and kiss fish wearing a black leather jacket. I'll be honest, millikens videos teach a lot so I watch his vids to learn, but I watch the googan guys all for different reasons. I think it's been cool watching how they each have evolved. Apbassin videos are better than ever right now. I mean I can catch bass so show me some GTs and big Lakers, show me how to kill chicken and make bows and put a hot cubana woman in a bikini on your boat and guess what, IM watching. I think y'all get my point. Sorry for the rant but it drives me crazy when hear people talk bad about them. All these 40 year old guys be jealous as shiiiitte.

I think Rob is a smart businessman and not catering to the 5% of the fishing industry is great. The formation of the Googans was basically a way to make sure they weren't undercutting each other on sponsorships.

My hands are scarred and calloused, fingers always sore or wrapped in bandaids. I just want to fish. It’s my passion, it’s what I do. To get a chance to sit and learn from guys like Rob, Chris, to learn how to change my work focus from building things from steel, to doing what I love, wouldn’t seem so impossible in today’s economy and marketing changes. When it comes to Googan, I played for the other team.
I watched the Jon B pod and that put a crack I my prejudice.
Now this drop - and I find myself no longer a hater.
    No small effect you two.
I'm so new here that the paint is still wet. I enjoy the whole concept.
I'm thinking that someone will pick this up. Maybe Andrew will find a slot. The story is the hookset,
I think the Tool in the Lake Fork swimbait was justice to the whole atmosphere.
So thanks for opening my eyes a bit. I'll start giving them a fair shake

It’s crazy that your sitting here talking about the ad space. I have consumed fishing content for a long time. I literally ask myself all the time which product I should invest in. I learned a long time ago to stop watching fishing ads on the tv show during tournaments or the magazines because I would end up buying junk! It wasn’t until I listened to my son who is 21 and started watching RUclips content that I could see the products being used and started to buy better products!

I actually gained respect for Rob by watching this episode. Unlike most, I respect Milliken & Googan, as they have both excelled outside of the box. I’d like to hear the story from Rob about the hard bait prototype story in full. Personally 6th Sense hard baits seem to catch more fish than Googan’s, but that Bandito bug was a banger for sure.

I remember the 1st video i watched of Lunkerstv was him fishing off a 17 or 18 ft skeeter with a baitcasting reel on a spinning rod upside down and he thought it was correct. I subbed immediately and figured he was a channel that would either blow up or fail miserably and i was going on the ride

To just continue with Rob's honesty. Even with all the success you've had, Chris, and all the connections you've built recently, it seems you're still finding it hard to grow on YT. I think that just speaks to a point made in this pod that the industry aint getting much bigger! It's time for some HUGE changes.

I hope Bass Mafia/Googan can excel with amazing products and grow. I fear that a cut-throat attitude in the market may get in the way of what the ultimate goal is for the consumer. We just want to catch fish. Lures that work, and tools that make it easier/more enjoyable. I hope the company keeps that balance and doesn't spiral out of control.

Another insightful podcast and Trait is a pitbull. I watched Rob, Jon and Andrew before they blew up. Then they blew up and threw there channels I found Millikan and 6 Sense. And theses 2 companies were the 2 new up starts in the industry. I do remember Milliken cutting both 6 Sense and the Googan brand hard baits in half. They were both very similar outside and inside. And the way the video framed Googan Squad as basically bait stealers. I did not see anything from the Googans so I sided with 6 Sense and pulled away from the Googan brand. And of late started watching JonB again. And if it was not for the Bilge podcast that has turned me around on the Googan Brand.

Love the googan soft plastics. As far as the squad gos some I like some not so much but same gos for pros. Everyone has that go to bait when the bites tuff, for me it’s the green pumpkin bandito bug! Yes it’s not the most durable but I don’t care! I’m catching fish. I also use it for trailers on a few different lures. Great podcast thanks

Rob's YT style has always been a bit to all over the place for me. One minute he's flipping storage units, the next he's hunting with a gold AR, its like ok guy we get it you're busy. I will say for this format its great to hear him talk about business and the absolute hustle it took to make Googan the brand it is today.

I met Rob earlyyyyy on. Jon B and myself were on here pretty early 2008-2009 days when he was j0j0barz33. What Rob and all those guys did was exactly fill the void. They executed perfectly. They will go down as the OG of the fishing RUclips community when this thing really blew up. I love this un-edited, un-blurped real content from Rob. Hate this guy or not, he built an empire. Much love Rob and much love Chris and Trait for this podcast. Good stuff.
