Another awesome squirrel video looks like the double baffle worked a treat but man they are persistent little critters aren't they? Sorta like mini Terminators LOL!!!
I have problems I guess. 🤣 Everytime you put out a new squirrel video you can Gaurentee I'm going to watch it more then once. 🤣 I don't comment Everytime anymore because I've noticed when commenting thats the only time my channel gets looked at. I want my channel to be looked at when my new videos come out, not just because I show support. Can't wait for more shenanigans!!
lol well we already knew you had some problems Dave :-)! Couple weeks after filming they still slide down that darn PVC and get throwed by baffles about 10x a day....one could argue they think its fun??? ha
Hi Chris, I must have problems as full watch. I love watching your continuing battles with the squirrels. One question, Do you sleep with one eye open in case the squirrels gang up together? LOL. Take care Chris. Cheers, Huw
Maybe if you put a single baffle above the bird table, but put it 'wide at the top' instead of narrow at the top. That way, they would have to climb up and over the rim to get to the bird table? Great video my friend . .Enjoyed . .
I watched so many vids of Squirrels vs Feeder and the conclusion is that your version of Squirrels are more savage than others... At least +500% savagery in them :P Keep em coming
oh my too funny! yes you do have a ninja squirrel there! LOL! When you put the baffle on the bottom I could just see those squirrels shaking their heads & saying, "Beaten by a baffle" Love your vids!
hahaha dude I kid you not he tries at least 20x a day....every day! Hasn't made it yet but I won't be surprised one bit to walk outside and see him in the feeder w/ either a big grin on his face....of his middle finger pointed at me....or both lol
Yup...they are truly amazing in-flight...their head immediately locks in on landing place and never moves...they flatten their body out to increase drag and have a parachute effect...and they use their tail for a rudder...perhaps I've studied them too much haha
If your baffle was wider or your feeder was thinner it would have worked with only one baffle. My granddad's rule of thumb is if the squirrels are coming from above and you have a 1 foot wide bird feeder you want a 2 ft wide baffle. For example when we had bird feeders made out of two-liter bottles we used a modified punchbowl as the Baffle. When we had bird feeders made out of dinner plates we used trash can lids as baffles
But the question I have is.... while all of this jumping was going on, how much enjoyment did you get watching your birds feed? We ended up with our feeders on metal poles from the ground with a healthy slathering of Vaseline and hot red pepper powder. They learned quickly it was not worth the pain and eventually they went to better hunting grounds.
Being as I have a total of 8 other bird feeders setup with baffles....I got lots of enjoyment watching the birds on those feeders as I performed my tests. Thanks for asking....have a good one!
Just a thought - a single baffle, inverted sitting on a collar round the pvc would stop them. As a squirrel tried to get over the rim, the baffle would tip and eject the beast. Possibly even more hillarious footage! I enjoyed the B-roll footage. PS. When it rains, the water collecting in this would be another deterrent.
Yup I agree that may work! I was working with commercially available baffles...not sure why they use this particular size but they do :-) Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
I use these cones but I installed them on the Jacob hooks that I hand my feeders from. They are about 4 feet from the ground. My feeders are in my yard away from trees, fence, house, poles, or anything else they can jump from and land on a feeder.
You are correct sir....this was also another experiment testing how 'high squirrels could jump. The squirrel you see in the feeder jumped from the ground...the magic number from the feeder to the ground is 47"...you can watch here if interested :-) ruclips.net/video/K7mL0BYvIdw/видео.html Have a great weekend!
Howdy...I'm sure other methods would work too...but this one is 100% effective 3 months in...not reason for me to make any changes haha! Thanks for stopping by!
There's a video on RUclips of a squirrel jumping off of a pretty tall skyscraper and landing safely. Their bodies basically turn into parachutes that allow them to glide to the ground.
I've found they can jump up to 46"...anything higher than that is a no-go...for grey squirrels that is! Larger baffle would indeed work I think...but I was testing commercially available baffles...thanks for stopping by!
My pole feeder is not near a tree - my squirrel baffle works because they have no where to jump from and its attached to pole. I did invest in some cages to put around my feeders and I only put white millet and safflower in my open feeder. Squirrels do not like safflower (chipmunks do, however) I feed my squirrels. I toss peanuts away from the feeders for them to find both shelled and unshelled.
time stamp 8:45 you had a squirrel on that feeder despite the double baffle. We don't have squirrels. I think they're cute. Maybe if you give them some food on the top baffle (reversed) upturned, they may leave the bird feeder alone. Maybe.
Have you considered replacing the chain (which is effectively a squirrel ladder) with either some fencing wire or other high-tensile but very narrow wire that isn't thick enough for them to grab onto? Maybe also check out Chris Notap's channel for how he solved it with a different style of feeder.
I would think that would work, especially below the baffle. It seemed a few squirrels were able to grab the chain as they fell off the baffle. They shouldn't be able to grab a thin metal wire.

hahaha we all know you have an issue or two doc :-) Thanks for stopping by brother...appreciate you!
Pellet rifle.
Of course we watched all the B-roll! Of course it was hilarious! Of course we have problems!!!😂🤣😂
hahahaha I agree with all of the above :-)
Full watch, including the B roll! what really amazes me is the distance they can fall without getting injured.
They land light as a feather from any height :-) Have a great weekend!
Nah they're roadkill
Another awesome squirrel video looks like the double baffle worked a treat but man they are persistent little critters aren't they? Sorta like mini Terminators LOL!!!
They are amazing little creatures for sure...and make for some entertaining videos ha! Have a great week Patrick!
Howdy Chris- those squirrels seem to be trained to perform for the camera lol. Love it! Take care and God bless y’all
Lol they getting there Mr. Paul...still a little work to do :-) Have a great weekend sir!
The squirrels will always find a way 🤣🤣 You have some of the smartest and most athletic rodents that I have seen.

That squirrel deserves its own feeder after those spectacular ninja moves in the beginning... Lol... 😂
They are well fed trust me :-)

Very interesting. Those ninja squirrels will figure it out. Take Care.
Yessir they usually do haha!
I hadn't known how much I missed the pleasing sound of a squirrel hitting the ground. Thanks for the memory.
Our pleasure!
Hi Chris, that was good brother! Them squirrels 🐿 gave it hell! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for stopping by brother...have a great week!
Crazy you had to add the second baffle ! Resilient little buggers
Not only did I have to add a second baffle but I actually bought a second baffle at the same time b/c I suspected a single one wouldn't work hahaha!
Knowing how much bird seed a squirrel can go through, I got a real sense of satisfaction watching those squirrels fall to the ground. 😛
Seed hopper of birds so beautiful.
Thanks for visiting!
Great video man! Many thanks. I couldn't stop laughing! You beat them!
You have to give the little buggers credit for their efforts!
Agree completely!
They are persistent.
the slow motion is hilarious! I had to stop the video a couple times, because I was laughing so hard!
I seriously need to make Jessie set some stuff up for our squirrels. Give me something entertaining to do during the day 😂
Yes!!! You surely need something to keep you busy in between your 15 daily naps :-) haha!

A good nature study in semi-domesticated rodents! Honestly, I enjoyed it! Thanks
Haha ninja squirrel is back
Man you love teasing them! Looks like the double overhead and the single one below get the job done.
With both it’s basically a bird feeder 😂
They are fun to watch for sure :-) lol....yes we're trying to get the 'specs' on the perfect squirrel proof bird feeder
They are so very industrious for sure.
thanks for the stats. currently having the same issue so I will try both ideas!

Now that's a GREAT idea!!! I've gotta try that :-)

what about making the overhead baffle with a greater diameter? then maybe you wouldn't need two?
Yup I agree that may work! I was working with commercially available baffles...not sure why they use this particular size but they do :-) Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

not sure but sounds like a fun video :-)

@ 8:43 you have a squirrel eating the food sitting under the double baffle!

Kudos for picking that up by the way...first one in like 20k views :-)
Also noticed that it seemed to be lower than what it was in the beginning.!! Great video!
You need a baffle umbrella that'll go a lot further out & a couple of them. 1 near the top, 1 right above the bird food.
Howdy...I'm sure other methods would work too...but this one is 100% effective 3 months in...not reason for me to make any changes haha! Thanks for stopping by!

They are my cats the always seem to land on their feet watched all I thought it was great my friends

Been 3years, does it still works or did the squirel acquired new skills?
Is the feeder high enough off the ground to prevent them from jumping up to it?
Yup...I have another video figuring out the right height...thanks!
Did you purchase the baffles on line or make these?
Tractor supply
Seems like they could just jump from the ground right in. Did any of them try?
You have enough squirrel activity that would make a great gumbo!
Indeed :-)
I would have liked to see you on the ladder hanging it up. How many feet high is it?
I like the plop sound they make when they hit the ground!
I can't believe they can't jump up from the ground.
Larger baffle.
I've found they can jump up to 46"...anything higher than that is a no-go...for grey squirrels that is! Larger baffle would indeed work I think...but I was testing commercially available baffles...thanks for stopping by!
Baffles can work except around your place where they have been training for American Ninja Squirrel for years.
lol good point :-)
I’ve had great luck with using spray glue and stick board glue on the cone!
Smart squirrel
I might have problems.
lol as do we all :-)
My pole feeder is not near a tree - my squirrel baffle works because they have no where to jump from and its attached to pole. you have to admire the determination of a tree rat

Squirrels are funny, falling squirrels are even funnier, they are persistent
I believe a single baffle on top would work if it were 18" to 2 foot wider than the feeder.
Pretty cool. I'm still waiting for the compressed air squirrel shotgun lol
lol now that make my brain spin for a minute :-)
👍 yup
