My mom would have killed for this video in 1993. I had two of these as a kids and broke both of them. She would 100% have watched this and fixed them right up.
Great repair. I have bittersweet memories with this toy. I never knew it existed until years later, when I saw a kid playing with one at a fair. I forget how old I was at the time but I told my mother I wanted it, and was told I’m too old. In hindsight she was right for the time but here I am at 46.
Another excellent repair, Dave! That Real Ghostbusters line was so well made. They gave us awesome figures, Ecto-1, the firehouse, proton packs, ghost traps, etc. It was everything you needed as a child and fan to immerse yourself in that world. Such a wonderful toy line!
Really cool toy trap. I love it. And your restoration as well. Perfectly done. Push the button. Don’t you look into the trap when it’s opening. Open - close - open - close. I could do this allday long. The day is structured.
@@toypolloi I love to see you do these kind of fixes. They might seem a bit basic and straight-forward, but to many toy collectors lacking your confidence and experience, these sort of things can be intimidating to some. Seeing you actually go through these motions and come out with such amazing results is very encouraging to the toy collecting community interested in preserving their childhood toys! Thanks so much for all you do!
Great work! I still have mine from my childhood. The hole on the handle let you attach the trap to the proton pack (but then you had to carry the blaster on your hands 😅). I have the ghost trap made by Jocsa here in Argentina. The actual trap shares the same mold, but the pump is very different. Our version was just a piece of yellow silicone that broke very easily. Still, it was a great toy. I always liked it's design
Nice one man. Good to see the trap given a new lease of life. I had a slight panic when you were removing the side sticker, so thanks for not ripping it 😅
That shape on the end of the tube looks like what some refer to as a fish mouth. If you can find a 20mm hole saw and manage to drill through the center it will give you that shape. Probably harder than what you did but figured I would share.
Hou should look into a cheap airbrush setup. It'll save you money after buying a new rattle can for each project, and you can custom mix your colors with the hobby paints you already have and some water based airbrush thinner
Good work as always TP... Not sure why you didn't put ends on the new handle to seal the tube up, when the original is clearly meant to be "solid"... minor quibble, but not it's like you to vary so far from the original design....
Dude, I dig your style. I love the wargames reference. Definitely subscribing. I would be happy to let the ads play for you man. Ha ha ha. could you tell me more about that handheld blue drill that you had.? Please and thank you.
I I am certain I watched this before. Just after the video about getting the drill. I knew exactly how the fix was going to go. I’ll put it down to wired parallel time lines merging. It’s the only explanation.
Pritt stick isn't a special decal adhesive right? It's just a good old fashioned glue stick? The stickers are coming off of my Transformers Metroplex and I'm not sure how to glue them back down.
Hi Toy Polloi, Very sorry to bother you and my apologies for asking this question in this way. Especially as my question doesn’t relate to your recent video. I was hoping you might be able to either provide some assistance, advise or point me in the right direction. So… I am a fan of the vintage Bandai inspector gadget toys (inspector gadget mobile and the mad mobile). I know that you have a supplier of the transformer stickers or in many instances create your own replacement stickers for vintage toys. I was wondering if by chance you would happen to know of a supplier for the inspector gadget stickers? I would try and create my own stickers, however unfortunately I am not very good with the graphic designs software, which unfortunately rules out me creating the stickers myself. Also these toys suffer from many common breaks or missing parts. Would you at all consider perhaps doing a special on the repair of these inspector gadget toys. My apologies again for bothering you and thank you for your time and any suggestions which you might hopefully be able to provide.
No problem. I have to say I don't know of anyone who makes stickers for that. It's not a toy line I've ever looked into. If I find one I may take it on as a project, could be fun. Cheers
" Who You Gonna Call?! "
Dave at Toy Polloi, of course! 🤣
👍🤣👍
That Japanese hand drill is one of the smartest purchases ever.
It's such a useful tool.
My mom would have killed for this video in 1993. I had two of these as a kids and broke both of them. She would 100% have watched this and fixed them right up.
Honestly, I think that the color on the handle is just fine. You're always so imaginative.
Thanks 👍

You are never too old to get one!
@@toypolloi truth! I have the various better traps which have been made in the past several years. But none hit that nostalgia bullseye like this one
That was a simple fantastic little toy, it works and it's got glow in the dark features!
Glad it got a new lease of life, great work Dave 👏🏻
I love it so much when you tackle a ghostbusters project!
Glad you enjoy it!
10/10 repair job! Knockin' it outta the park as Usual Toy Polloi!
Wow, thanks!
Bustin makes me feel good.
Using a cassette case for the stickers is peak
Is that a good thing 🤷

That looks GREAT! Much better color match than I'd expected from a can. Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love seeing the Handy Drill in action.
It is so useful.
Nice work, Dave!
Your ghost trap looks great!
Thanks 👍
What a great tune that was at 15:28. 👌
Man, I love watching your videos. 💯😎👍
Glad to hear it
One of your best Dave I reckon!!
Thanks 😊

A masterful repair. 😊

Really nice fix!
Thanks!

Hey Dave
Great fix and fun video.
Thank you for sharing.
Take care and Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP 😊
Awesome

Amazing 😻
I may sound like a simpleton, but drilling the holes to clip off the bits blew my mind
Glad you learnt something new. It's useful way of getting odd shape cuts going.

Thanks. I try to fix things with tools I have to hand. Seemed to work out close enough. Does the job anyway.
I have the cartoon gb pack but never came across a trap for the right price. The belt clip gimmick is really neat, I never saw that in any photos.

It looks great Dave! Have you ever used Worbla thermoplastic for any of your repairs? It looks like a versatile material.
I know the stuff and have seen people use it for cosplay. I've never tried it on toys.
@toypolloi I watch a doll artist and she often uses it to make small accessories and shoes.
After looking at photos of the original toy, I wonder if you could use a long, skinny plastic funnel to form the tapered handle.
If you can find one that fits.
Good work as always TP... Not sure why you didn't put ends on the new handle to seal the tube up, when the original is clearly meant to be "solid"... minor quibble, but not it's like you to vary so far from the original design....
Was that a cassette tape case?
Yes
Have you shown the finished article on toy polloi 2 previously?
Yes, it appeared in an unboxing over there.

All good I kept going through your stuff and I found the video on the drill. Great work, man!
Welcome aboard! Looks like you have found the video I made on the drill. Cheers
I was surprised that you didn’t add led lights to the ghost trap while you had it apart…….maybe on a future project?
This was a repair rather than a custom. Keep your eyes peeled for Halloween though 🎃
Is this a re-release of this video? I could have sworn I'd seen it before.
I've never had this toy before. So it's all new to me.
I I am certain I watched this before. Just after the video about getting the drill. I knew exactly how the fix was going to go. I’ll put it down to wired parallel time lines merging. It’s the only explanation.
Question: how many ghosts can i store in the trap, toy wise?
Pritt stick isn't a special decal adhesive right? It's just a good old fashioned glue stick? The stickers are coming off of my Transformers Metroplex and I'm not sure how to glue them back down.
Nothing special. It's water based so very gentle. Works perfectly.
@@toypolloi Thank you so much!😁
What about the ghosts that were already in the trap when you opened it, where are they now?
My house is overrun with them 👻
But Dave, does it work? 😉
I miss when toys were screwed together.
Same. Old toys are designed to be fixable. Modern toys just aren't.
The original handle let the trap hang on the toy proton pack neutrona wand hook
There is a clip on the underside for that. The handle is just a handle as far as I know.
Oh, now I see what you mean, so yes that is used as well.
